One of the best campgrounds I've ever been to. Super hard to get sites, though! Had to wake up at 6:45am 6 months before to do so. Totally worth it!

Site had zero shade, but the size was nice compared to others. Most of the sites are pretty small. This site was in the very back of the campground which was a long walk to the entrance where the shuttle picks up. Bears do come through this campground.

As always, a great stay. First time riding bikes through the valley. Stopped and asked a man working on the yard of his grey bungalow near a meadow, Whats a guy gotta do to get this spot?. He chuckled and replied, Work for low wages. Amen to that, brother. What I wouldnt give. Keep up the great work, team.

Great night and stay at Upper pines. Quietness and proximity from trails.

The current reservation system creates a frustrating and inefficient camping experience. Because reservations open so far in advance, people feel pressured to grab any site they caneven dates they cant actually usejust to have something. This leads to wasted campsites, as many are willing to eat the low $36/night fee if plans change, while others who genuinely want to visit get shut out.For my recent 5-day trip to Yosemite, I was forced to book a different campsite every night, scrambling to stitch together whatever was available. Each morning, I had to tear down camp, pack everything up, wait for the next site to open, and set it all up againwhile trying to care for my family in the middle of this exhausting shuffle. This isnt a vacationits a logistical grind. It also adds more work for campground hosts and causes confusion and unnecessary conflict between campers due to the constant turnover.This system encourages hoarding, not fairness. To improve it, please consider shortening the booking window to 23 months and slightly increasing reservation fees. These changes would help limit speculative just in case bookings and ensure more sites go to people who actually intend to use them.

Enjoyed our Upper Pines Campground site - good campers in the campground, quiet, and plenty of water in the river and scenic waterfalls.

Nice campground. Bear boxes were big, plenty of bathrooms, and the sites themselves had enough room. Good proximity to Glacier Point for some classic climbing objectives (The Grack) as well, the approach was only 20ish minutes.

Great location, clean and well maintained. Spaces for rv's to back into are a little tight between the dividers. Other than that its a great choice.

We had a smooth and fun visit. Since it's hard to book sites, we ended up staying at three different campsites at the same campground, the rangers were used to this and switching was smooth and easy. All the rangers were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the shuttle service and benefited from being able to get groceries at the local shops (I had forgotten to bring cooking oil...). The bear locker provided at each campsite was large enough to hold all our food with no issue. It was hot in the afternoons on the days we visited, but we stayed cool and comfortable by hanging out by the river -- the temperature was great there and surprisingly no mosquitoes! We did pick up three ticks one time we walked along a non-boardwalk trail in the valley, so recommend tick-checking if you walk somewhere with grass hanging over the sides of the trail. All the ticks we saw were dog ticks, which do not carry Lyme's.

Just returned from an incredible 4-day stay at Upper Pines Campground and I'm already planning my next trip back! This campground truly exceeded all my expectations.Location & Views: The setting is absolutely breathtaking - you're right in the heart of Yosemite Valley with stunning views of Half Dome and the surrounding granite cliffs. Waking up to those iconic formations every morning was pure magic. The campground puts you within walking distance of so many trailheads and Valley attractions.Campsite Quality: Our site (#239) was spacious and well-maintained with a perfect balance of shade and sun. The picnic table was solid, fire ring was clean, and we had plenty of room for our two tents. The sites feel private despite being in a developed campground, thanks to the natural vegetation barriers.Facilities: Restrooms were consistently clean and well-stocked throughout our stay. The bear boxes are huge and easily accommodated all our food and toiletries. Water spigots were conveniently located and the garbage/recycling stations were always tidy.Staff & Management: The camp hosts were friendly and helpful, offering great local recommendations. Park rangers were visible and approachable. The reservation system worked smoothly and check-in was efficient.Only Minor Note: As expected, it can get busy during peak season, but the natural beauty and amazing location more than make up for the crowds. Book early - this place fills up fast for good reason!Upper Pines delivered the quintessential Yosemite camping experience. Can't wait to return and explore more of this incredible park. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to immerse themselves in Yosemite's natural wonders!

Whether tent or RV camping, this site was wonderful. It came with a picnic bench and fire pit, and there was a small, ice cold stream that flowed through the back of the site to cool your feet off in after a long hike. We were a party of 6 with 3 tents and 2 cars and were able to fit all within the designated site. The only downside was the light that spilled out from the neighboring bathroom at night and into our site. It wasnt enough to keep a person up, just enough to take away from the all-outdoor ambience a bit :') Still would stay again!

We loved our stay in Upper Pines campground. The campground was full, and there were LARGE groups (6-8 and more) around us but we still had plenty of private space. I was able to walk to Yosemite Village, Yosemite Falls, Curry Village, and Vernal and Nevada Falls. Upper Pines is a great location and the Merced runs to the side of it. We went rafting this trip, last time I came we had inner tubes and floated the river. Good proximity to Curry Village if you need wi-fi or supplies from the store. Our campsite had a picnic table, bear container and fire pit and was well shaded during the day, which was an added bonus as not all sights have shade. We were in 14 in the first loop. Restrooms were close by, and the trash was just up the road a little bit.

Stunning views and friendly rangers and hosts. Being able to take all the hikes from my campground was so convenient. My specific site 40 was right next to the bathroom and shady during the day. Amazing experience

We camped here for three nights and had a wonderful time! This site sits along the Merced River with small runoffs, and some areas of stagnant water. While beautiful it did make for lots of mosquitoesI wonder if other spots away from the water had less mosquitos. This site sits away from most of the crowd which is nice. We camped with our Coleman 17b trailer which runs about 21 feet long. On the website the description says nothing bigger than 19 feet, but when I entered our trailer size this was an option, so I went with it. It fit just fine but we had to park our truck (8 foot bed with cab) at an angle between the trees, not too bad since we had cameras but I can see this site being difficult for larger vehicles with no cams.

Great campground, amazing views and nice trails.

Very basic campground but right in the heart of everything. The free shuttles are brilliant and really help with getting around, especially if you have young children like we did! Upper pines is a great location for certain trails such as the mist trail and mirror lake trail.

Even though this is an RV site, there's room for multiple tents. There is space to the left and right of the driveway and if needed behind in the middle area for 2-3 tents. Restrooms are nearby and convenient. There is shade in the evening but not in the morning. The sun hits you around 8:30am but not a problem if you're there for early activities.

Good campsites, the men's bathroom has no hand soap, but the women's restroom (according to my girlfriend) has soap dispensers on the wall. The campsite next to us was empty for 3 days! and it wasn't re-listed on the reservation site. I noticed a number of other campsites going unused - what a shame, you need to fix your system so that people can use the campsites or offer them to walk up campers.No cell service!

Great - but the NPS - should ban generators. A guy next to us had a leaf blower too. Kid you not.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
