Upper Pines Campground is a nice location for it's proximity to the river and easy access to Curry Village. Bikes are a must for everyone in our group because biking everywhere is so convenient and is always the highlight of the experience for the kids. On this visit we drove to Glacier Point. The view is worth the drive. Some in our group hiked back down to the valley from there (about 5 hours) while others did the shorter excursion at Sentinel Dome/Taft Point. That was just over an hour.In terms of the campground, we were very surprised at the fact that the bathrooms were so small compared to the ones we are used to in Lower Pines where we usually camp. One stall for the men. Two stalls for the women. And one of the sinks wasn't working. The campground was full...and these bathrooms were just not sufficient.

Excellent

Upper Pines in the late winter/early spring is delightful. It's much less crowded -- like the park as a whole -- than in the summer. So it's quieter. Our site (# 5) is an excellent one. Any site on the outer side of a loop is better than the opposite, because there's no one behind you, and no one walking through your site.

Why do they not clean out the fire pits?? Why do they not clean the needles and leaves out of the parking space for each campsite??

#5 Site is near the entrance. You might think that would be a problem, but it is not. The site is spacious. Two or three tents, no problem. Two cars fit easily. Easy access to Mirror and Mist trails.

This site was big enough for a few tents and car. Close by to the ranger post and restroom. Restroom is clean, heated and always has tissue and hand soap . T mobile up to 3G.I will be back again sometime. Peaceful place.

Fantastic location, as always. Enjoyed visiting in mid-November when the crowds are gone. Sure, it was colder and rained a bit, but the hikes are still great and uncrowded.

Upper Pines is a great place to camp in order to spend an amazing time in Yosemite Valley. The sites are clean and well maintained. Bring bikes to get you around Yosemite Valley without having to rely on the shuttle.

Love camping in the valley and climbing! Feel so lucky to have gotten the spots. Only detraction was the massive RV camped right next to us running their generator. Thanks

BEAUTIFUL location nestled between granite peaks! Close to the river and trailheads. Amenities: fire ring, bear vault (use it!), bathrooms with flushing toilets, & running water. Only downside is the noise from people with RVs/campers running generators, although they did all respectfully adhere to quiet hours!

Upper pines is close to Curry Village, Happy Isles and shuttlebus stops, yet one can walk to secluded area quickly.

Location of the camp was great. The camp was clean. Certain spots are very uneven and hard to maneuver to get into and we had a small 21 feet Rv. The camp fires fouled the air to the point of not being able to breathe.

Site 123 was my least favourite with everyone walking through your site to the washroom. The bathrooms need some serious TLC but more specifically soap dispensers NEED to be installed. So much is preached about public safety and yet a basic hygienic need is not even provided.

The park seems understaffed. Speed limits are not observed by visitors or staff. Campfires allowed even though the valley is choked with smoke from nearby fires. Staff in kiosks removed from duty due to poor air quality. Makes one think the decision was influenced by firewood sales. There seems to be a big problem with reservations. Many sites vacant but unreservable.

Great and nice campground. Restrooms were not very clean, facilities very old.

good, but the site could take a little leveling.

Upper Pines is the largest of the Pines campgrounds in Yosemite Valley, and the only one open year-round. If you can get a campsite on the outer side of one of the loops, those ones are best because you get some privacy and theyre quieter. The only thing that can be a bit disconcerting in the winter months we were there in March is that it gets darkish in the campground quite early. But thats just a reason to sit around your fire pit. But those late winter/early spring months are one of the best times to go because the falls are flowing, the mountains are beautiful, and the crowds are absent: e.g., we spent ten minutes completely by ourselves at the Yosemite Falls viewing area.
