Upper Pines is a nice campground for most of the year. However, it is located in an area that receives very little sun in December. Both North Pines and Lower Pines get more sun but alas, they are closed.

Wonderful wonderful! The campground is right at the heart of Yosemite valley!

We stayed at Upper Pines during our Half Dome trip! Was only ~1 flat mile from the trailhead, which made planning super simple! Great access to Merced River and bathrooms were clean!

Easy campground to Navigate, bathrooms were good enough and a place to rinse dishes was nice. I thought there were showers but I was wrong. Great views and nice easy walk to the meadow from the lower numbered sites. Got to see Yosemite for my first time and it snowed, absolutely beautiful.

Great spot!! Ample space for parking, very clean picnic/fire ring area, and a quiet, private spot for the tent. lots of trees all around. easy access to restrooms/water, unbelievable views and a short walk to the river. 10/10 had an incredible experience wish we could have stayed longer. cant wait to return

I've been to Yosemite Several times and each time we have always camped at Upper Pines due to its close proximity to Yosemite Store just in case we need to get more wood or other essentials. Campground is always clean and bathroom and well maintained, highly recommended, only downside is reserving a spot, i had to reserve it 6 months in advance, i was lucky because i hear from other campers they had to do it 1 year ahead! very popular spot but worth it!

We had a great time. It was our first time camping in Yosrmite Valley and it was late October so everyone had campfires going and it was quite smoky. We were okay but if someone has breathing issues it could be a problem. I think because of the drought the potable water taps were not working. Luckily we brought plenty of water and were also able to pick some up at the well stocked store. We had a really great time and found a variety of trails that could be enjoyed by my 8 year old granddaughter and everyone. It is SO beautiful. Breathtaking. It is an honor and great privilege to be able to stay in the valley.

We had a nice campsite but they crammed a lot of campsites into a small area so your neighbors are pretty close. Bathrooms had no soap.

The best place for a California Sierra Nevada family vacation in my book.

Upper Pines is a perfect location for the night before a backcountry hike from the Happy Isles trailhead because it’s even closer than the backpackers’ campground … and it has water to fill your water bottles. The campsites are shady and far enough apart to give you some privacy. The staff are helpful. When we arrived, there was a squatter’s tent on our site, so they found us another one. This was our fourth time camping there and we will definitely be back.

The utilities was very clean and there are workers who take care of the place. Thank you!

I had spot #27 and had the line of sight view to Half Dome - one of the best experiences so far. I would say this camp location is a nice "off to the side" from the valley, but not too far where I feel excluded from the valley. Restrooms were decent and not trashed. It is passible for a camp site. I also definitely appreciate it for always being warm.

Although the camp ground was only 25% full, due to COVID, our camping spot was underwater, and it was a handicap spot. When we told the ranger, he just shrugged. It would have been nice for us to get another spot since there were plenty available. We toured the whole area and nobody else was having the same issue. The site has a low spot that keeps water from draining, so needless to say, we were walking in two to three inches of water all the time around the vehicle and trailer. We didn't let this dampen our spirits since Yosemite in the winter is awesome, and the added bonus of very few people was a huge plus.
