Campsite 44 - I really enjoyed Upper Pines Campground. Site 44 was good but the paved pad was a little rough and not flat, so I needed to use my levelers. The restrooms were clean, although no handsoap is provided so used my own. I liked being so close to Curry Village for supplies, many hiking trails and sites to see. I'd like to say how grateful I am to the Rangers working the check in booth at Upper Pines Campground, a female and a male. They were both so nice and full of information. The female was extremely helpful and explained how to handle my food in my camper van. I had read so much about the Bears and she really put me at ease with all the information she passed on to me. I was so appreciative of her. She went above and beyond for sure. They both were very helpful and just made my whole experience that much better. Thank you Park Rangers.

Great site overall. Not too close to the bathrooms but not too far. The space offered to this site is quite large. There is heavy tree coverage, so if you have a camper van with an awning, then you won't be able to fully extend the awning if the van is backed in. You won't get a stable Starlink signal either. I was able to make calls on AT&T. Those are first world problems it's a terrific site.

My campsite was next to the large RV and they ran their generator 7am to 9am, 12pm to 2pm and 5pm to 7pm every day for 4 days. I understand that is allowed per campground rules. They spent their time watching TV during this time. However, THESE RULES NEED TO CHANGE! Allow only 1 hour periods. The other issue is camp site encroachment with tents to close to my tent. People stay up to midnight intoxicated and taking to loud and finally falling asleep sorning to loud. Final issue was the theft of my camp stove.

Upper pines was simply the best. We stayed three nights in our RV. Dump station is right next to the campground and there are two shuttle bus stops nearby, which makes it easy to get around. It was fully booked but still so peaceful after 10pm. The pizza deck at Curry village is super popular, so order yours early.

Upper pines was a great camp site, half done can be seen by our campsite and we saw some climbers scaling a rock formation. It was also close to some hiking trails and not to far from curry village if we needed anything. Th only con about the camp site was that the bathroom was out dated and in the womens bathroom, there was one stall that was out of order so one one stall was being used. That same bathroom also didnt have the outdoor spigot not working, so we had to walk to another bathroom to get water. With all that being said, Yosemite was beautiful and cant wait to go camping again there. It was always peaceful and quiet at night especially since we were tent camping. We loved it.

Your reservation system does not work there were about 1/3 of the campsites empty for several days in a row, people didn't show and didn't cancel, yet the campsite was never made available. Also about 12 campsites are not available supposedly for high water flooding, yet now in mid July, these campsites are still not available, long after high water. A better system would be if there is 500 campsites the first 500 people to log in on the reservation day get a campsite, the particular site will be chosen or assigned upon arrival. Handicap sites are not available to handicap people without the handicapped person going to the office and asking for the site and everything, dates, and number of days, has to match, and then you can trade sites with the non handicapped person who is occupying that site, this dose not meet ADA requirements for accessibility, California State campsites always have a handicap site available. The free shuttle was next to useless, it was supposed to be running on a 15 min schedule but was more like 45 min, with that long await in-between many more people would arrive to get on the shuttle, not all people would fit and they would have to wait for the next bus with the same result, a friend had to wait for 3 times. You have created so many convenient parking lots that it it is now easier and better to drive and park wherever you want to go and not deal with the shuttle. Food service is terrible and inexcusable, people are in the tent cabins or other lodging and have no cooking options, yet food was only available very specific times at different locations. The reason given was "that nobody wants to work" which I think means at the wage you are offering nobody wants to work. A summer spent working in Yosemite was always a dream job if you could get it, what has changed so that is no longer the case?

Amazing park, amazing staff. Camp hosts and rangers in the park were extremely friendly and helpful. Went above and beyond to help us during our stay. I will be planning to return next year for a longer stay to enjoy more of the trails.

Site 44 was the only one available. It was nice and spacious. It was on the first loop which is a much shorter walk to Curry Village. Nice to be far enough away from dumpster lid banging and restroom traffic, but close enough to use.

I usually camp at Upper Pines multiple times per year but not usually this early in the season. I came to see the Fire Falls and if you decide to come this time of year make sure you are bringing enough layers (thermals, wool mid layer, puffy, etc.) and have warm camping gear if you are staying in a tent (4 season sleeping bag, good sleeping pad, preferably a 4-season tent, etc.). If you plan on making a fire at your camp site, do not forget to bring a lot of fire starter and wood as it gets very cold at night (dropped into the low twenties while I was there). There could be snow on the ground and on hikes so make sure to bring waterproof boots and pants as well. During most of February there will be a ton of people visiting to potentially see the Fire Falls. You can only park about a mile away from where you can see the fire falls so be prepared to walk with all your gear if you are there to see the phenomenon.

Bathrooms very clean. Would have liked to be able to shower somewhere in the park during my stay. It rained and snowed during my stay in December and many of the campsites were underwater.

Great area. Great park. Way too crowded. They need to open up more campgrounds. A ranger told us there used to be two more campgrounds upper and lower River but they were closed well over a decade ago due to a 100 year flood. Come on they’re campsites, if they flood every hundred years what’s the big deal. Open them back up.

Rangers and facilities great. Smoke impressive. Scenery not so much, which is odd for Yosemite valley.Second chance to go to the valley in 40 years. We had it to ourselves, but couldn't see what we had. Still worth the drive from Alabama.
