This is a WINTER season review of the campground. Bathroom is warm and well cleaned. Many of the sites were flooded due to poor drainage and no snow removal. The fire rings had not been cleaned out so they did not have great airflow. Be prepared for generators running constantly during "allowed" hours. Outside of those windows the noise level is decently quiet. Shuttle bus is pretty close so easy to get around the valley floor on foot even in winter. Great views with some sun reaching through trees here and there. Overall better for trailers than tents due to the drainage and noise levels from the trailer folk.

Great to camp right in the main park valley, close to many trailheads and shuttle service! Campground is surrounded by beauty - one of the best I've been to.

We stayed at the RV campsite and loved it, well located in the middle of the valley, close to the village, with a place nearby with fresh water and dumpstation.

Loved our stay. There was some confusion by the host on where was would be available but aside from that the site was great.

Stayed at campsite #24. Which had tons of room. You could easily fit 4 tents. Also had a great view waking up next to north and half dome. Curry village, and multiple trails were walking distance from our campsite.

Restrooms are heated. Rangers drive around often to make sure unattended food is stored properly and not getting eaten by ravens.

Yosemite in the Fall is pure heaven. Rangers and hosts were very friendly and helpful. The availability of campground reservation staff was limited (hours open) making inquires difficult.

Loved our campsite #24 for our first time at Yosemite. There was a nice spot to put our single tent and plenty of space to spread out. We hiked Mirror Lake and the John Muir + Vernal/Nevada Falls trail which were also nearby. Super close to Curry Village as well. Signal strength on T-Mobile was better than expected, I had zero issues with my carrier. Overall would be glad to have this spot again next season :)

A beautiful campground, close to the wonderful hikes in Yosemite Valley.

Hike the trail up to Vernal and Nevada Falls. Well worth the hike! Avoid the park stores, very pricey compared to other NPS stores.

It was really nice to stay in the valley and wait up so close to everything. The place is pretty cold during the fall due to short expose to the Sun, and a lot of condensation occurs during the night. Definitely go prepared.

I was unable to cancel reservations two weeks before arrival. No way to get ahold of rec.gov have not received refund more than a month later.

Great location. Was a little disappointed with the amount of empty sites that were “reserved”. It’s unfortunate that people don’t sho, but don’t bother to cancel their reservation so someone else can enjoy it.

campsites quite crowded for social distancing. Seems like rather than spacing out the campsites, half the campground is closed rather than every other site.

First time camping in upper pines in 5 years. Its truly heartbreaking how many campsites theyve added to the site. Its weird to have neighbors so close to your site. You can clearly see how they cut the sites in half to accommodate the increase in demand. I understand why they did it, I just wish they didnt. I would prefer to only get a spot once every few years than to camp in an overcrowded site. As a result, the womens restroom broke down. Only 1 stall open and the other leaked water everywhere. Im glad I brought emergency restroom alternatives such as the Travel John urinal to be able to use in the privacy of my tent w/o having to stand in line to use 1 stall in a gross bathroom. I always preferred to use actual restrooms when available but the overcrowding makes it difficult for a park of Yosemite popularity to be maintained by the limited staff. Would not mind paying more for camp sites if it would help with overcrowding even during off season. Overall, location was great and close to some of my favorite trails. Overcrowding sucks and I wish people would be more considerate of other campers and respect the designated campsite area.

Upper Pines Campground in Yosemite National Park allows campers to camp in the park and enjoy the park experience. The campground is functional for that purpose. However, the sites are rather small and the facilities appear to not have been updated in a long time.

Lots of other people around but everyone was very respectful and the number of people really did not take away from the beauty and experience of the place.
