This is a beautiful campground with stunning views of El Capitan and Half Dome. On a clear night, the sky is absolutely breathtaking. On a full Moon it is surreal. This campground offers clean restrooms, drinking water fountain, and parking spots, and there are plenty of nearby trails that you can easily reach by shuttle.

No showers. Park rangers very nice. Loud neighbors. No hand soap in bathrooms. Could be better at enforcing quiet hours. Nice that it is walkable to curry village. But ten showers for like hundreds of people is rough!

We loved our stay in Upper Pines campground. The campground was full, and there were LARGE groups (6-8 and more) around us but we still had plenty of private space. I was able to walk to Yosemite Village, Yosemite Falls, Curry Village, and Vernal and Nevada Falls. Upper Pines is a great location and the Merced runs to the side of it. We went rafting this trip, last time I came we had inner tubes and floated the river. Good proximity to Curry Village if you need wi-fi or supplies from the store. Our campsite had a picnic table, bear container and fire pit and was well shaded during the day, which was an added bonus as not all sights have shade. We were in 14 in the first loop. Restrooms were close by, and the trash was just up the road a little bit.

So close to all the places you want to see. We walked to the Ahwahnee, most of the way to Mirror Lake. Saw a pileated woodpecker and a coyote crossing the bike path, and a hawk flew from tree to tree in front of us. Great spot.

Love coming to Yosemite. Have stayed at Upper Pines Campground on numerous occasions. No complaints. The only issue we had was with checking in officially as the times for the Kiosk are 10am to 4pm. We arrived later in the evening as we were backpacking and got back to the valley well past 4pm. We then left early morning for a long hike and could not check in as the kiosk was not open. We then came back well past 4pm again.

Upper Pines is one of the best campgrounds we've ever stayed at. It's a great home base for anything you could ever want to do in Yosemitefrom day hiking Half Dome to hanging out with your family. Great spots, clean bathrooms (no showers, though!), and generally friendly people. My ONLY COMPLAINT is the growing number of power generators running at (what feels like) all hours of the day. There ARE quiet hours and generator rules, but they aren't followed very closely and it really takes away from the serenity of the park. Imagine getting back to your campsite after hiking Half Dome (which my wife and I were blessed to do this year!), sitting down for an early dinner at 6pm, and having to yell to hear each other over your neighbors generators (there were three running at the same time). Don't know if I've ever been more annoyed (myself and the campsite next to us clapped when the last one turned off).

Site 14: River and Restroom were walking distance and the view was beautiful to wake up to. Camp itself was near curry village, Yosemite village and most of the dog hiking trails.

Very bad experience. My space was covered with ice, yes ice not snow. I couldnt use it. I had to drive back to San Jose late in the evening because I felt unsafe staying overnight. There was no ranger in the campground.

Exactly as described. Arrived late while crossed and all info needed was available still. Clean area.

Everything was great. Easy access to restrooms and everything was clean. The Park Ranger in the front by the name of Daniel was amazing too.

The campsite was great and easy to get to. The site is near mirror lake, the start of mist trail, and the base of half dome. The restrooms we were near were okay. The water was super cold and the toilet paper would rip every time you tried to grab some.

Great campsite. Big space and accommodates 2 parking spots. Bathrooms and running water available Only complaint would be no showers and garbage sites are in one location. Other than that, the campground is worth it.

A possibly once-in-a-lifetime experience to be there with so few people. I'm amazed that anyone has anything to complain about. The camp host and rangers are super-friendly, the campground and bathrooms are clean as a whistle, everything is so quiet, there's a ton of room everywhere including the beach by the Merced and it's within easy walking distance of Happy Isles. Sure, there are generator jerks, but that's part and parcel and will happen anywhere. This was a weekend my family and I will remember for the rest of our lives.

I checked in at the ranger station, the ranger was great. It snowed the first night about 4". I took photograph early the next morning, WOW! what a scenery... I cooked breakfast and hiked the mist trail, not many foot prints. I love winter camping. I met a couple from Brazil here to hike and four men just graduated from Georgia Tech vacationing together before they start their jobs across different parts of USA. I camp just to meet, talk and hike. I love Yosemite...

Upper Pines is exactly what you expect and what you probably need in a camping get away in one of our nation's treasured parks. It's a car camping campground so you are in close proximity to your neighbors. There's bear boxes at each site. They are plenty big for a family. The earth is soft enough for tent stakes. The bathroom has 3 private stalls and 2 sinks. Water is cold. Managed to get clean with a dishpan and a little soap as I was tent camping, not in an RV. Washed clothes this way, too. Trees are tall and beautiful. Plenty of shade. Beautiful views of the moon, stars, and mountains. You can walk one campground over to the store, food, heated bathrooms, visitor services. Or, you can drive. Never had a hard time with parking but we are early risers and it definitely filled later in the morning. We took pay showers at Housekeeping Camp; worth it! No problem with checking-in the next morning since the rangers were gone by the time I made it to my site in the evening. Heard and saw rangers sweep through the park 1 time at dusk and again late in the night. Enjoyed my stay:)
