This was an amazing place to see and experience. I hope to go back soon and try the kayaking through the canyon.

If, you want to escape the noise and the hustle and bustle, this is the place. Clean rest rooms and nice campsites. Abundant wildlife and friendly staff. I will be back.

Great camping experience. LOTS of wildlife at the campgrounds, but didn't run into any issues.

This is a great campground--well attended and clean. The wonderful nature trail leading to a small ridge overlooking the Rio Grande is spectacular, especially at sunrise and sunset. There's tons of wildlife to watch. Sites had either shade structures or cottonwood and mesquite trees for shade, which you need because it was in the 90s even in mid October (about 10 degrees warmer than the weather app prediction, which might be for the Park Headquarters in the Chisos Mountains). The campers were all considerate of the Dark Sky designation, keeping evening lighting to a minimum so the stargazing was fabulous! We stayed 6 nights and loved our time there.

Some nice campsites

We were booked for site 90 but were able to move to site 85. If you have an rv larger than a tear-drop camper, you will NOT be able to fit into site 90. No matter what Recreation.gov says or the pictures show, it is not doable. The camp ground was great though, lots of wild horses roaming through daily. Big Bend Park was awesome. Two must do's, Windows Trail and Santa Elena Canyon Trail down to the Rio Grande River. Night time star gazing is amazing as well.

Was in Big Bend for only three nights but managed two solid days of hiking. The trails were well marked and maintained. The views both during the day and of the night sky were spectacular. The park is vast.

The camp host was welcoming and gracious. Facilities were clean and great access to park sights.

The mesquite nettles in the grassed area made it difficult to pitch a tent. The loose livestock was kind of cute, but annoying as the horses grazed right next to our tents during the nights. The price of the campsite was especially good and even better with a Parks Pass.

The site was well maintained. I liked having the ranch animals walking through the campsite.

Terrific hosts! Kept areas clean and maintained communication with campers. The store staff could be a bit friendlier though.

I was there in late September early October. It was very hot during the day and late into the night. If you're in an RV I highly recommend you get an electric site. If you're in a tent i'm sorry. The store at the campground does have gas and laundry. Horses and donkeys are frequently seen in the campground. The donkeys have bells on them. They can wake you up at night. There's a trail that goes off the back of one of the campsites.It's a nice little hike.Highly recommend doing it early in the morning.Before it gets too hot.

We absolutely do not understand that in such a place there is no cold water shower - very tired and sweaty after the whole day, we arrived after 6 pm and there was no possibility to exchange dollars for small change

Unfortunately it was extremely hit while we were there so we didnt get to do much hiking. We mainly just drove through the park and stayed one night with our camper. We only stayed one day because it was very hot in the camper at night. But Big Bend is gorgeous and amazing. We just picked the wrong weekend.

It was very very good, you have bathroom clean and water to use and drink very close to the campground it was silent and you feel safe. Rangers were allways aware. Keep in mind that the only thing is that its too hot almost all of the year
@JodyR3849821 · Camped on Jul 20, 2025 at Campsite #11
The sites are big and have shelter. We had horses and donkeys in our site (ranger said they come over from Mexico). We had the whole site to ourselves with it being so hot. The trails from our site were great. Bathroom was clean and the utility sink was a bonus for dishes. Would stay again (just not in July)

Rio Grande Valley in the summer is HOT. The showers are $2 for 5 minutes, which is reasonably doable. Great site for stargazing! Recommend bringing a generator or at least power banks as there's no power to charge devices.

Although we had a short, overnight stay, we had a fabulous time. The trail to the overlook and Rio Grande are short and relatively easy, and the views are well worth it. Be prepared for lots of biting insects- cover as much of your skin as possible with clothes and use lots of bug spray- even so, expect some bites. Also be aware that wildlife is very active in this campground; we saw several javelina and were kept awake most of the night by wild horses (we didnt mind that too much- it was a very cool experience). The night sky is unbeatable.

Area was great. Refreshing. Always reenergizing to be out there with nature. Unplugged. Off grid.

Beautiful campground. Some shadehorses, donkeys and javelina. Water available. Ice and gas at store!

The campsite was great with a structure over the table that provided shade. The area is imposing. Bring your binoculars and telescope.
@EvanGFF05D683B · Camped on May 29, 2025 at Campsite #84
Spacious campsites and many with good shade. Lots of animals to spot; everything from deer and javelinas to vermillion flycatchers and cicadas.However, the unfenced and adjacent ranch land means there is lots of donkey, horse, and cow manure all over the campground - and there was plenty at our site. Donkeys roamed the campground for several hours one night and two were wearing bells, so between the clanging and the braying of the donkeys, it wasnt terribly restful.Village store is well stocked, has working WiFi, and the store/gas station is the only place in the park where you can add air to your tires.

The campgrounds are well maintained including the individual sites, public areas and bathrooms. So quiet and beautiful. The staff were all so helpful. Well definitely be back.

Great campground. Park representative very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Originally hesitant about location at one end of park, but, in the end, the location actually worked out perfectly for my wife and me. Would easily and readily recommend to anyone. Definitely recommend the Boquilas (SP?) canyon hike and the Borillas (SP?) border crossing.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
