Great site. Worked great for a large 6-person tent plus garage that fit nicely between the paved pad and the shrubs. Very close proximity to site 16, which was great for traveling with friends. May be less than ideal with loud neighbors. Charcoal grill is in a weird spot but we never used it. This site would not be recommended for a pull through trailer and is definitely best for tents. Lots of foot traffic from the nature trail but the quick and easy access to go to the nature trail view morning, moon, and night is a huge plus. Short walk to bathrooms, water, and trash.

Loved the camp site. We chose the non-generator part of the camp which is in a more secluded area among the bushes. Our site had a covered table (all a bit low, but who's complaining). The nights are very dark and we had the best sleep because of that. Loved the place.

Nice, quiet campground with some privacy in between sites.

All the details on the booking website were described accurately, payment was easy, and we had no problems using the camping sites. The restrooms, camping sites, and storage containers were clean and ready. The recycle bins are a very nice and long-awaited addition - Thank you! For future campers, we recommend booking several different campsites to explore the park better. We did book two: Cottonwood and Rio Grande Village. Chisos camping was all booked. Later, we went hiking and saw "reserved" for the entire week with no signs of campers - it was sad. We suggest installing a deposit fee system, preventing people from reserving the camping sites and not using them without any consequences. Big Bend is real and beautiful, thanks for keeping it that way.

Quieter campground than I expected, clean bathrooms, awesome location - don't sleep on the Nature Trail! Loved our time in Big Bend.

This would have been a much better experience had there not been a big metal roll off container pretty much on my site. Very disappointing. I hiked up to the top to see the sunset which ended up putting me in a better frame of mind.

Great campground, super convenient to the Boquillas trails. Great sunset views from the very short and accessible nature trail from the campground. A couple of warnings-- no internet, and spotty cell phone coverage in this area. Make sure to gas up before you get there, because prices are steep at the local station.Night skies can't be beat here!

Great spot during the busiest week of the year at Big Bend. Just know that coyotes and javelinas are very prevalent and not scared of humans.

Nice campground with good bathrooms and dishwashing sinks. The nature trail is great for sunsets, and there's a few good desert hikes just down the road. You will absolutely not have service, but there is wifi 24/7 at the laundry/bathroom/campstore. You're not very close to the hikes in the Chisos mountains, but it's not HORRIBLY far and it's a beautiful drive to take as the sun is rising. My only wish is that we could've set up our tent in the grass instead of on the gravel pads in front of the cars. I don't know how frequently this is done, but they irrigated (flooded) all the grassy areas in the campground while we were there, so you couldn't set up your tents in the grass. We were there last week of February and the gnats were pretty bad but it's commonly windy at this campground which keeps the bugs down. Pretty quiet campground the four days we were there.

A must-see National Park! Plan to be here for at LEAST 3 days because the park is huge and there are so many trails to hike and scenic roads to drive down. Be friendly and say hi to everyone, some people have fantastic stories of what brought them here. Please observe quiet hours, some of us like to wake up at dawn, and listening to your neighbors drinking and playing country music over their speakers until 10:30pm is not fun (tent walls are THIN!) The hot spring is small and gets crowded, just FYI if crowds aren't your thing. Book your campsite way ahead of time!!! Same day availability is RARE and nerve-wracking to try and find. Emory Peak becomes rock climbing at the very end, be careful. Elena Canyon is brief, but absolutely gorgeous. Lastly, there is excellent wildlife viewing here! I saw two mountain lions, a road runner, some jackrabbits, and a million blue birds! Enjoy :)

We took Scouts from a Boerne TX Troop and Crew to explore the beauties of Big Bend in mid-January 2022. The Scouts hiked several trails, enjoyed the Hot Springs, and are excited to return. The Group camping site at Rio Grande Village could not have been better suited for a large group of Scouts, flat, grassy, and open. It got down to 18 degrees one night but quickly warmed to short-sleeve weather by early afternoon. Great time had by all!

Very nice campground. A lot of campsites have shade, and trees in between to give privacy.

We stayed at Rio Grande Village and soaked in the hot spring. We loved it! We also went to the fossil exhibit. (Very hands-on, which is great because my son is blind and he was able to participate. We hiked to the window, which I was skeptical about spending the time since the hike itself looked like everything else, but the view was unforgettable. We loved the darkness of the sky and could see stars we could not see anywhere else. Amazing trip! I do wish I had a 4x4 to do more scenic driving.

We had a great time and want to come back to see more! Boquillas Trail, the Rio Grande, Peregrine falcon, mistletoe growing on the mesquite tree--everything was wonderful! We especially enjoyed the ranger's talk on bird sounds the last night of our time there.

Don't despair if you aren't able to get consecutive reservations: many of the reserved spots around our campsite went un-claimed by the original reserver. The Camp-Hosts, on their morning rounds, were kind enough to let us know which sites they had available on each successive date and allowed us to roll-over to those. (Yes - we had to "hop-scotch" over to different spots, but it is possible to stay multiple days in Rio Grande this way. Spotted lots of Javelina in this area.
