I love this campground and area. Bummed the road to the hot springs was still not open and made it a long hike. Weather was great and the only downside was how rude the woman park host was.

One of the best campsites I've had the pleasure of being in. Proximity to sights right from the nature trail to the river and the canyons was most convenient. Clean well maintained facitlities and bath rooms. The village center a couple of minutes drive away with showers and laundry all made the experience wonderful.

I love this campground. The hosts were very helpful and pleasant. And the bathrooms were very clean. My campsite was nestled in the trees and had protection from the wind and lots of privacy. I love the Nature Trail being right there for an easy walk to the top for spectacular sunrises and sunsets or an easy stroll to the Rio Grande River.

Rio Grand is well situated to access some very of the most beautiful places in Big Bend. Having the camp store nearby was handy. The camp sites are small and a bit over grown. We had a difficult time with our 22 foot camper. They have placed boulders in each site which significantly reduces your ability to park a camper trailer or anything larger than a camper van. The pictures on the website do not accurately portray the campsites.

Love staying here always, and this trip has the added bonus of a daily visit from a coyote and javelina.

One of the nicest campgrounds we have been too so far. The camp hosts were so friendly and kept the place really clean. Definitely hike the Nature Trail if you are staying there.

I’ve always tried camping the Chisos Basin but can never get in, and end up in Rio Grande, never to be disappointed. It’s a bit from much of what get hike and explore but still has some great views nearby. I wouldn’t sell yourself short and think you won’t have a great time here, definitely worth the visit.

Nice level campsites , mantid which were empty because of the crazy new reservations system A lot of friendly campers, great trails but not manyGood down to the river Shower available for 2 bucks Very limited camp store but they do have fuel MUCH warmer in the day than Chisos, but same at night Some people gave me a hard time about using my generator (allowed)Wide variety of sites

nice location to Baquillas Canyon and River Road. A fairly large camp ground, sites on outer loop are generator free zones and are quiet.

We came in January when the weather is quite pleasant and stayed in one of the wooded sites by the river. We saw so much wildlife (we had Javelinas & a roadrunner and cardinals right in our site and wild horses out on the trails). There are not as many hikes out of RGV as Chisos Basin but they are great (we actually enjoyed doing some out of both areas). It was nice to have a shower too after a few days. We will be back.

We stayed at site 22 and it felt about as private as it could have given that it was right next to other sites. We were visited by a little squad of javelinas after we bedded down in our tent, but they were not very interested in us and moved along after a little bit. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely be happy to camp there again.

The guys were going to do a river trip and it turned out the maintenance man had been a river guide for many years. He gave us great information. Be sure to do the nature trail before sunrise and also before sunset to see the maximum beautiful colors over the Chisos and the del Carmens. The Hot Springs trail has a nice reward at the end, a dip in the hot springs themselves! Wear swimwear under your hiking clothes. Weve been coming to BB for 55 years-never run out of things to see.

Wonderful vacation with amazing sights. Although the wildlife sighting were few, they were memorable, including our first bobcat in the wild. Basin is a wonderful side ride to see the diversity of the area.
