Love Big Bend. Facilities are showing their age. Park staff and store staff at Panther Junction can be very rude. Thats not the case in Rio Grande Village.

Very noisy as tree cutting continues for all the giant beautiful and now dead trees that have been starved off water for years. Although in the Rio Grande with irrigation ditches, these once spectacular trees has been purposely killed. to revert the area back to what it once was. Luckily we didnt have to go back to the volcanic era. Noisy cutting during the day and big messes around all the time.

Nice simple camp grounds. We had 3 cows and 4 horses just grazing in empty campsites. Had a very nice trail to hike. Clean bathrooms. Showers 8 quarters.little grocery store and wifi at store.

Camp hosts were wonderful. It was delightful seeing the donkeys, mules, roadrunners, and javelinas strolling through the campground. Our spot was level. Easy quick drive over to the hot springs for a soak and then swim in the river. Camp store is convenient and provisioned with essentials. The dump station and water fill was incredibly clean and well provisioned. I can see that this place can get HOT since we were here in early March, so take this into account for your own time frame. We stayed the night prior in Chisos Basin Campground. Much cooler for temps and the views were of a more in-your-face spectacular-ness. I can highly recommend doing both for a long weekend trip!

Park is excellent, location is great, so close to the river and the mountains. Good infrastructure, drinking water available and clean bathrooms. Store offers basic food and drinks including camping supplies, food, RV parts, gas and propane. Paid laundry facilities and shower, and free wifi internet are a plus since most of the park is cell signal dead.

Nice Campground. Needed to turn around to park with the door side next to the picnic table, but other than that, everything was great! We were treated to a couple of packs of javalinas and a herd of steers munching on the grass.

The camp host was great. He checked in with us and made a recommendation for a bike ride out to the hot springs! We very much enjoyed it! The restrooms were very clean. We enjoyed our camping trip here. Even got to see some javellinas!

We enjoyed our stay! Our campsite was one that could be reserved just two weeks ahead of time and it did not disappoint. We were in the grassy area but had a couple small trees and a shade structure over our table. We pitched out tent on the grass without concerns about flood irrigation as it had rained in the days prior to our visit. Campground was clean and sites well spaced. Hosts were friendly and visible everyday.

Camp host not helpful. Recreation.com not helpful for added trips. Asked for camp reservations at Great Sands NP. They told me the campground was tent only and no RV’s. When I got to Great Sands I went through the campground. There were larger RV’s then mine camping there. My trailer is 20 foot. Very disappointing. When I call recreation . Com to ask why I was told that, they hung up on me. They have a monopoly on this service so there is apparently no need to provide accurate information. But if you want to camp in a National park you have to use this one and only service.

Nice shade ramadas for shelter from the bright south Texas sun. Plenty of interesting wildlife in camp including javalina, cattle and horses loose in the camp. Facilities were in good shape, restrooms were clean.

Rio Grande Village was a very quiet campground. People would be gone during the day and didnt hang around camp very much. Hosts were very nice, helpful and accommodating. Wi-Fi at the store was very slow so we used the ones at the visitor centers. We would stay here again.

Nearest cell phone service is around the Panther Gap Visitors Center (20 miles away), but that's a small price to pay.

The website itself is poor for reserving, needs a lot of upgrade. Also the camp site itself is not great for tents, maybe if you are bringing in campers fine. There should be differentiation between tent sites and camper sites so that the sites are better maintained. Also bathrooms are dirty and unkept. Covid protocols were well take care off.
