One of a kind campground with amazing views!! The views alone are worth it. There is some raccoon action at night, so keep your food locked up!

Site 12 is one of the best spots to book! Prime ocean views on a hilltop, no poison oak in the direct camp site, and very large amount of space it has to offer. Proximity to the restrooms and trash bins were very close, but not close enough to be bothersome. No shade or trees, so bring a pop up tent as it does tend to heat up during the day. There is a small tree with some shade but a bit far from the main camp site. Its also situated right next to the camp host (Jesse). Restrooms are vaulted toilets and were relatively clean, shout out to Jesse and the clean campers on keeping conditions excellent. Firewood is available for sale from the camp host for $15 each, plenty of supply available as well. As stated in the campground itself, no running water, so do bring your own.Overall, this was one of my favorite camp grounds. My party took a tour at other camp sites and most were either hidden, blocked by brush, contained lots of poison oak, very small space, or had no ocean views at all.

Beautiful setting !!! And kudos to the camp host... I have stayed here several times, and this was the best shape I have seen the campground. The host (I hope I get his name right... Jessie) was great.... it was as if he cared about the campground and our experience there.... Great job !!!

It was wonderful! Gorgeous views looking down over the cliff. Many of the sites have some views of the ocean. We hiked up the mountain behind us for a couple miles and had more stunning views. there wasnt any shade on the trail so it was very hot on our dogs feet. We turned around because her feet were burning. Not much to be done about that other than not walking midday.We enjoyed taking the little trail down to the rocky beach from the campground as well as driving a short distance to park and then enjoy the rocky beach and tide pools. We had no cell service anywhere near the campground. We probably wouldve had to drive back to Gorda to get some sort of cell service. We were able to send a few messages to family by connecting to satellite. Never done that before but its a nice option since we didnt know we would be out of cell service for our entire stay. Many of the sites are not level- especially the ones with the best views, so plan accordingly. Poison oak was rampant in the whole area. Every trail had it all over and many of the campsites. It was one of the main bushes. Its good for campers to know what it looks like, maybe have some sort of preparation in case you are sensitive to it. We chose to stay off a few trails because it was around so much and we did not want our dog touching it.

Great experience at Kirk Creek with friendly staff and an amazing view. Sadly, the tree at Site 22 had to be cut down prior to our reservation. Be prepared to battle the sun, as there is minimal/no shade.

Epic views, so nice having soft grass underfoot rather than dirt, especially with littles running around. Site 1 was spacious and pretty quiet despite being on the road side because of the highway 1 closure. Downsides are no water (including non-potable) and raccoons that got into our friends van (might have been left open) and decimated their food.

1.) The Racoons are definitely real. Ran into one on my first night and like five in my second night. They ran literally from the bushes on the right of the site into the campground. Just dont leave food out. Put your cooler or whatever in your car or stored away. The racoons will climb on your vehicle at night. 2.) Site 22 no longer has a tree and man, in late July, the sun is very hot and beating. 3.) Expect overcast in the morning that clears up in the day and may return at night. 4.) stargazing is fantastic from this site, you can literally see stars over the entire ocean. Best time to go would be for a new moon or meteor shower to get the most out of it. 5.) Its one of the only sites with a direct view of the beach below. Most of the coastal sites are on the cliff but are surrounded by brush. The wires protecting you from falling could be a bit better. 6.) It is probably one of the most private spots in the campground. No one to your right. One site to your left. One site behind you and its quite far. But due to losing the tree you lose alot of that foliage coverage. So some of the sites on the cliff exempting #9 can be more private. 7.) the bathrooms despite being pit toliets were a bit gross and needed to be cleaned out, not much care probably due to the private company that the campground is leaded out to. Should be back under the state and not be maintained for profit. Overall, great campground. People will definitely stop by this site to check out the awesome view and if your late sometimes they'll try to take it lol.

Beautiful campsite close to everything. The road not being open makes it now plentiful with rich wild life such as foxes, raccoons, squirrels, condors, and...ticks. Maybe being premethrin or check your clothes before cashing in for the night. And as usual poison oak is plentiful so definitely stay towards the center of the trail

The campground is in a wonderful location, perched atop the cliffs at the oceanside. The sites are decent sized. The camp host was friendly and helpful.Since Highway 1 is partially closed this greatly cuts down the traffic noise, which normally is loud since the road runs right by the campground. It's a good time to visit now.

Host Jesse was awesome. He was kind enough to drive around the campsite to let anyone know that whales were present. Super awesome guy! Thanks Jesse!

I have come to this location for few years now. The raccoon issue has gone out of control, the old trash system with aluminum bins should be replaced. Anyhow, it is nature and I can deal with crazy raccoons, but got there the first day and a bunch of RV came and one of them arrived at 7PM and powered its generated from 7PM till 11PM and again in the morning at 6,20AM ALL day. I am not going tent camping in a beautiful environment like this one to feel like I am camping on the 405. Put these RV in a separate areas and implement restricted hours for generators. The host did not intervene and the next door argue that their friends had a baby hence they needed the generator. Many tent campers around me left early because of this issue.

Great location, though difficult to get to from the Bay Area due to the 1 closure. While there, we had a lot of overcast despite it being in July, only could see the ocean about 3 hours per day. Camping spots are smaller than expected. Raccoons were definitely a nuisance as previously described. Keep food locked in your car always when not around. Lots of poison oak as well. Overall a good trip, but surprised at how popular and unattainable this spot is. Probably wont be back.

We love this campground so much. The sites are beautiful and the hosts were nice. I really wish the trail down to the beach was maintained because it used to be so nice to hike down there. Now its much too overrun with poison oak.

We had an amazing first stay here! This campground and site have been on our bucket list for quite some time, so we were over the moon that we were able to snap up a last minute cancellation (shout out Outdoorsy alerts!). The camp host was helpful and very kind. The bathrooms are pit toilets, and we didnt find them to be as bad as some of the other reviewers here. Unexpectedly, we had two days of full (and hot) sun. We had not anticipated needing an additional shade structure as we saw a tree in the photos for this site. Unfortunately the tree has been cut down since the last photos were added (I assume for good reason). We were counting on the weather being on the overcast/cooler side, and were surprised at how sunny it was! The area was rather dry and there is an abundance of poison oak surrounding the campsites and the trail down to the beach. Avoiding the poison oak is not hard, though. Just use your best judgement and when in doubt do not touch plants unnecessarily :) We also had one run in with a very ambitious raccoon. Overall we had a lovely time and will definitely be back!

Great location, with a beautiful little trail nearby that takes you to the water. Will be going back!

Lovely time as always at Kirk Creek. Some of the fellow campers were playing music loudly over speakers during the daytime, but as much can be expected at such a popular spot and it calmed down after dark. Was more concerned about the smell of the outhouses that was intermittently wafting over into other campsites.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
