I know this is a top rated campground so I gave it a five. For anyone coming from north of Big Sur; YOU CANNOT COME DOWN HWY ONE THROUGH BIG SUR DUE TO HWY CLOSURE BETWEEN BIG SUR AND THE CAMPGROUND. You have to go south inland to San Simeon and then backtrack up north. For us we didnt know that and so had to make a last minute change on the way and stay at another campground before the closure. Otherwise this campground is exceptionally wonderful.

We had a fantastic time at Kirk Creek, one of Big Surs best campgrounds with breathtaking views and immaculate surroundings. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Initially, we were hesitant about camping so close to the road, but due to the closure on Highway 1, there was minimal traffic mostly just fellow campers driving into the campground. Im unsure how it would be under normal conditions. Just a heads up avoid leaving any food outside, as raccoons here are a bit of a hassle and notorious for snatching up anything left out. Overall, it was a great site.

Beautiful campground. Especially nice because Highway 1 is closed just a few miles north so there wasnt much traffic passing by. No cell service, and no water , but the beautiful views and cozy comfort of the campsites made it all worthwhile.

Theres no debate that the setting is incredible. So many beautiful sunsets and starry nights. We love that many sites have grassy patches. The trail down to the water that we adored several years ago was completely overgrown, and essentially impassable because of poison oak. You can skip a big section of poison oak if you cut through the back of site 9 rather than starting at the trail head, but its still way, way too much for kids, dogs, or anyone not covered in long pants, long sleeves, and shoes.

Perched on cliffs overlooking the Pacific, Kirk Creek Campground offers stunning ocean views, clean facilities, and a quiet escape in Big Sur. Perfect for nature lovers seeking a serene getaway. Hosts Brent & Kirsten are incredibly friendly and welcoming, going above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. Can't wait to come again!

Great location and surrounding beaches like the one just below campsite #11 and Sand Dollar Beach. The raccoons are active so be sure to store any food away after dinner. I had paw prints on my car rooftop in the AM. :) Vaulted bathroom. Clear, sunny skies. Will definitely be coming back to check out other near by locations. Leave the place better than when you found it.

Campgrounds are gorgeous! We got site #1, which is right next to the entrance and the highway. Sadly, no trees on #1, and you definitely feel a bit exposed in this spot, but the large size of this site made up for these minor concerns. The sites along the coast (11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 22) looked the best because they had an unobstructed view of the water, but honestly they're all great.

Campground hosts are super friendly and chill. They have firewood for sale ($15/bundle) and the sign also said $5/1gal water, but we didn't inquire so I can't confirm if it's always available - make sure to bring you enough of your own!

No issues with other campers. Bathrooms were smelly, but hey - they're bathrooms. Make sure you know what poison oak looks like and still DON'T TOUCH ANY PLANTS! We saw a surprising number of fellow campers touching and brushing up against the poison oak. Raccoons are VERY... uninhibited... and will snag any bit of food you leave out after dark, even if you're sitting right next to it.

The beach is an amazing perk and great for beach combing - not much sand to lay out on. Sand Dollar Beach would be better for that.

Trying to come back here as soon as possible!

Camp Hosts Mar and Shua were welcoming and super helpful during our stay and provided excellent satisfaction during our stay at this remote and stunning beautiful location. Thank you!

We love this campground. The views were beautiful, and the grounds were clean. It was easy to buy firewood from the campground host. There is zero cell service, which I actually enjoy for a few days. If you're traveling with your dog, I recommend bringing a fine-tooth comb, since there were ticks in May (none when we were there last July though).

Beautiful area. Camp hosts were amazing, view was beautiful. Wood was available.
15 minutes north wifi for sale if you need service. 45 minutes south full cell service.

Beautiful hike in the campground down to the ocean.

Too many children.
