Thank you Katie for switching us to a level campsite! Lucky #13. The views were the most beautiful I have ever seen. Compared to even Hana in Maui

Kirk Creek Campground is easily the best campground with a view on the entire West Coast. Perched on the cliffs above the Pacific, every site offers stunning, unobstructed ocean views that are hard to beat anywhere in the United States. The hosts and staff are exceptionally friendly and professional, and the campground is well maintained overall. Bathrooms are kept clean, trash is managed, and the grounds are tidy despite the high traffic the area gets. One important issue to be aware of: several campsites are so unlevel that it can be extremely difficult to properly level a vehicle. I had to stack my truck camper on eight leveling blocks using a jack just to get my fridge to work. If you are bringing an RV, camper, or van, be prepared for major leveling challenges depending on your site. Also, poison oak is out of control throughout the campground. Its in many areas around the sites and paths, so be cautious when walking off the main areas.Despite these issues, Kirk Creek remains my absolute favorite campsite in the United States. The ocean views, peaceful atmosphere, and remote beauty make it an unforgettable place to stay.

I like camping and I've loved camping at Kirk's Creek for many years. Over the years the services have dwindled; sinks in bathrooms have gone, water at certain sites has gone, the trail down to the beach on the north side has not been restored, and, worst of all, a Sunset magazine article rated a campsite at Kirk's Creek as the number 1 site in all the USA. So, now I can't show up and get a site without a reservation - something I never had to do before. So, what had been a simple, relatively unknown site has been inundated with all kinds of RVs, filling up the campsite, but nothing is being restored to the minimal service it did have. In summary, even though it is very difficult to get a reservation, I will continue to make the effort - 35 years and counting...

Beautiful views and very peaceful. Im not a big off the grid camper, butI liked everything about this location. Wish I would have know to bring pants I was afraid of some of the trails because of the poison ok.

Amazing views with more space and privacy than surrounding spaces. Trees provide some respite from winds.

The campground is being fairly well maintained. The outhouses are clean, and the garbage cans are emptied regularly. There is lots of poison oak which the Forest Service needs to cut back. The campground hosts run their generator at 7 am each morning, which is against the rules of the campground. It would be great if tent pads with wood frames and sand were added, as most of the campsites are not good for tents.

Very nice campground, beautiful views everywhere. No running water but the vault toilets were pretty clean and the grounds were well taken care of. Nice and helpful camp host as well

Beautiful campground! Camp hosts are so helpful and super friendly! We had a great stay. It gets windy so make sure your tent/equipment is durable. No wifi for like 30 min north & south of the campground so don’t count on it. Bundle of wood is $15, they said they prefer card (they have a card reader). Bathrooms are vault but were surprisingly clean. No showers or running water. Nearest water is at a fire station but can get contaminated, so just bring your own. Campground has an easy trail down to the beach, really nice. Have fun!

I wish the amenities were at least the same as they used to be. There used to be sinks in the bathroom, water at many campsites, you could always make a fire being careful, BBQ food, and sadly of all, the north trail down to the beach is no longer available.
I've been bringing my kids for almost 30 years, and to see the deterioration of the campsite has been hard to see. For the first 15 years we never needed a reservation, but because Sunset Mag. rated one of the sites as the best in the country everything changed. The site they chose wasn't even the best in the campsite. What would
bring these things back? Donations, a little work, and a little love.

No service, no flat spots...but the views and private trail down to the beach were pure perfection and we hope to stay again soon!

Amazining views at every campsite. Loved every bit of it! The little hike to the creek and the beach was amazing as well! Only downside was the raccoons that seem to bombard campsites surrounding trash can areas. There were 5 trash cans hanging next to our site. Due to this, we had raccoons basically following us around to the point of us either feeling stuck in our tent or stuck in our car. Not ideal situation when camping with the fire ban!

Very nice campground. Bring plenty of leveling blocks. Some sights will require them.

Fantastic location right on the cliffs. You really get the "Big Sur" feel. Simple campsite with no frills-- just how we like it. We pitched our tent in site #5. Nice view of the ocean and creek. Quite a large site and decent privacy from others. Two hikes accessible by foot right across the street from the site. Overall, the campsite is clean, quiet and we will definitely be going back.

This campground is on a very privileged perch, what has to be one of the most spectacularly gorgeous spots in all of the United States. It would be hard to even suggest that any individual campsite is less than beautiful.

Be aware that on weekends most sites will be at capacity, with a half dozen campers. Thus, the oversubscribed pit toilets may have the mound of doom reaching towards your nether regions.

This is a great campground! Only issue I had was how expensive the firewood is. $15 a bundle for firewood is too much. It’s the most I’ve ever had to pay for firewood.

This spot is absolutely stunning! Beautiful panoramic views of the ocean from all campsites. Highly recommended.

Great campground, we have come back through out the years, would love to see the poison oak scaled back a bit, but just keep your eyes peeled, and cover up on the hikes to prevent exposure. The raccoons were less intrusive this visit which was nice.

Incredible views, well maintained sites that were clean and well manicured. The hosts were outstanding, welcoming and professional, they did a great job.
