My new favorite coastal campground, incredible views and sunsets. A hiking trailhead across the road ( hard hike, no mountain bikes), my favorite beach 5 miles south: Sand Dollar Beach where I surf fished and caught some surf perch.Super nice and helpful camp host, bath rooms are vault toilets but were clean ( lighted at night). Also good base camp for bikers who want to ride Naciemento Ferguson road. Hearst Castle is about half an hour south. The campground and trails are dog friendly.Note that there is no water at the campground.

We were in Site 28. Great views of the ocean. Very quiet place. The host Jessie (from our home town of Lompoc) was very friendly. We will definitely return.

Amazing views and each lot has plenty of space. Was not bothered by animals - just keep your food inside your tent/cvan.Local keeper friendly

Put toilets were better than we expected. Camp host was friendly. We skipped the trail to the beach because of too much poison oak, so beware if you have kids! And our top top: To avoid the aggressive raccoons that like to steal food, eat dinner and get food away before dark. That means locking your food in the car. If you do smores, keep the marshmallows and fixings on someones lap! The raccoons got out neighbors potato chips and almost got food from our car when I literally walked to the side door from the open hatch for 10 seconds. They move in quickly!!

Great location, though difficult to get to from the Bay Area due to the 1 closure. While there, we had a lot of overcast despite it being in July, only could see the ocean about 3 hours per day. Camping spots are smaller than expected. Raccoons were definitely a nuisance as previously described. Keep food locked in your car always when not around. Lots of poison oak as well. Overall a good trip, but surprised at how popular and unattainable this spot is. Probably wont be back.

Beautiful campground with stunning ocean views. Each campsite seems to have great views, you cant go wrong with selection. There is a short scenic hike down to the beach that you can access right from the campsite. Easily accessible off the PCH and you feel safe knowing other campsites are occupied around you while still maintaining a sense of privacy. Would 10/10 recommend this was our best camping experience yet. Only negative was that there was no running water (adds to the whole true camping experience) and that the bathrooms were pretty disgusting (but I was told by staff that it was due to the recent closure of part of the PCH so it is what it is).

My favorite place to go camping in Big Sur! The campsite was beautiful with views of the ocean and the camp hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming! Have been here 2 times already!

Very quiet and comfortable. I was satisfied with my stay for 3 days. The downside is that the toilet is not flush and there is no running water. However, the environment is so good that all other shortcomings are offset.

We came upon this incredible campground 18 years ago and have wanted to return. We finally made it! And it is as beautiful as we remembered. Admittedly, our 35' fifth wheel is a bit on the large size for the campground. The roads are narrow and while it is fairly open - there are rocks and occasional curbs which make it more challenging in places. This also made backing in to spaces more challenging. Remember that the length stated on the website is trailer AND tow vehicle space. Most of the spaces have a great view, as it is nicely laid out and sites are reasonably spaced. Hosts were congenial and helpful. Note there is no wifi or cell service here or for about 30 minutes north and south. Poison oak is abundant, so watch yourself on the trail to the beach. We had site 6 which we fit in and had a great view. Make sure to come with water - there is none here.

Camp hosts were really nice! We stayed at site 16 with ocean views . Near restrooms but not next to it. Restrooms were clean vault toilets. At our campsite, ground is not level definitely recommend leveling blocks. Once sundown, be extra cautious of a group of raccoons. They went from Campsite to campsite causing havoc grabbing trash, entering vehicles even when you are an arms length away. A small bundle of firewood is $15 here. 3 bundles will last a good number hours for the night. Because of the moisture from the ocean be prepared to get your feet and your pets paws super dirty .

Been camping at Kirk Creek for 30 years. Love the location. Would like to see regular restroom with running water. Would like to see some camp site with trees for shade. All and all an incredible place to camp!

Kirk creek provides the opportunity for camping on the Big Sur coast with quiet and extraordinary natural beauty. The night skies were fabulous. The campground hosts were wonderful: always helpful and with good information. On the negatives: the bathrooms seemed overused. Perhaps signage telling people to keep the toilet with down would help with the odor and flies. And couldnt the campground hosts be provided with lime that would help with the smells? The raccoons were a huge problem. They climbed all over my car leaving muddy footprints and left punctures in my tent.Seems like fewer trash cans with bear proof handles are overdue!
