Great view, peaceful campground. Lots of critters, birds and squirrels during the day and raccoons at night. Store food and supplies properly to avoid a mess. Bathrooms had toilet paper but no light so bring a flashlight. Lovely trail to a rocky beach right off the campground near site 8/9. No signal and so peaceful and serene. Will definitely come back. Lots of privacy between sites and minimal camper noise. Campground was full during our stay.

In addition to this being a bucket list campground, the camp host Michael was one of the kindest I've ever come by camping. Such a personable and generous individual! Made our camping experience even better.

This place is a pain to book for because all of the sites are blocked the second they go up for reservation. Campsite was basically empty even though there were only 2 reservations available when I booked. Something needs to be changed with cancelation incentives. I want to camp here but it's nearly impossible besides dead of winter.

We did not have a positive experience at this campground this time compared to past stays:

1. No more water. Price per night is the same as Plastkett, which has water. Camp host says the high price is for the ocean view. If that's the case, sites without the view should cost nothing. Also, toilets are poorly kept, dirty and unbearably smelly. Price should be commensurate with amenities and services.

2. Why is there a three-night minimum requirement for us when, at two of the neighboring sites, different campers were able to stay single nights?

This is easily the most beautiful camping to be found in Big Sur, with high probabilities of whale sightings from your campsite at the right time of year. There are quite a few sites that are not level or long enough for even a smaller camper van or RV, and unfortunately you won't find out until you arrive if you have reserved one of them. The management of the campsite is not stellar when it comes to checking in, and most newcomers end up doing a fruitless drive around of the whole site before realizing none of the sites is marked with 'reserved', never mind a name. The young employees are polite and helpful but perhaps the resources are not there for them to do a better job of making sure people are getting the best sites available on any given day.

One of the most beautiful campsites ive ever been to. The views are incredible. Beware of the raccoons though because once it gets dark about 50 come out. Lock any food in your car and take your trash to the bins. Also there is no water so plan ahead.

Kirk Creek Campground is beautiful and wonderful--camping with an ocean view! It is a basic campground without all the frills, just how I like it. However, this is your warning that the raccoons here are bold little robbers and WILL jump inside your vehicle, even if you're in it, if you have a door or window open after dark. I had barely pulled in (after dark) and had my back hatch open, sitting inside the back part of my Jeep, when I reached around to the front seat to grab chapstick, and a raccoon jumped inside and stole my entire loaf of bread before I could stop him! Another camper had four raccoons rob him overnight, jumping in through his open van window. As long as you keep everything buttoned up tight when it is dark out and aren't afraid of raccoons (they will literally hang out right beside you at the campfire), this is a neat place.

The Campground Hosts were great. Very helpful. I'm giving this site a 5-star rating because of the beauty and location. It was so nice to be away from it all. I should note there is Poison Oak everywhere. There is also a family of raccoons that are big and smart, put your stuff away at night. Great stay for two nights in my opinion!

Beautiful views, every spot seems to have a perfect view of the ocean. Clean, and the campground hosts were helpful and even drove around to offer firewood for a small price if needed. Can see why this is a popular place to camp! Hope to visit again in future.

The views are spectacular and the campground was very nice and quiet. Only problem was the bathrooms, while clean the smell was really rough, I’m not sure how often they are “sucked” out.

What a place. Theres a reason it takes 6+ months to reserve a campsite. The mountain cliff/ocean views are breathtaking. The stars are stunning, the ocean sounds are therapeutic. The trail getting down is easy, yet adventurous. Campground set up is spacious (picnic, fire, trash bins, restrooms, firewood for sale if needed). There are raccoons (to be expected, youre out in the mountains), they are honestly really cute, super friendly (that being said, please dont feed the wild and/or encourage them to get too accustomed to humans). Beautiful time. The smell from the restroom is not flattering, so wouldnt recommend a campsite down wind. The drive there is so relaxing. Cant wait to go again.
