if know your funds are short. but clearing the trail to the beach of poision oak would be good. it is impossible to walk on it with out brushing against it. i happend to talk to other campers and a lot of them didnt even know what it looked like! and it is all over the camp site. (which is fine) but I wonder how many peo[ple unwittingly get infected.

Although we received weekly notices from recreation.gov reminding us that we had reserved a site here for two nights (and we made that reservation 6 months in advance) when we got to the campground, the contract camp host claimed to have no record of our reservation and said that he would act only on information from his employer not recreation.gov. They put us in our campsite for the first night and tried to boot us out the second night. We spent over two hours working to resolve the issue, finally moving to a much less desirable campsite. The campground is extraordinary. No cell reception; no running water; no electricity. Beautiful views of the north coast. Great hikes and bike rides nearby.

Super cool camp hosts , very helpful. My one gripe is the HWY being closed and it not being noted on the campsite as I am not a local . I still would have went , would have been nice to know .

Excellent friendly and informative hosts. Great time to go now while Highway 1 is closed just north of the campground. No traffic/noise from the highway! Unparalleled ocean views.

Kirk Creek can't be beat for its stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and the sunsets. Most sites are well spaced out and provide good views. It was very quiet due to Highway 1 being closed a few miles north of the campground. This campground is more suited for tent campers, car toppers, vans and small travel trailers, Class A's & Class C's. We have a 35' fifth wheel and it was a bit stressful pulling it through the campground and backing it into a hillside site, especially at night. If you want to disconnect from the world for a few days or weeks, this is the place.

Site 30, like most other sites, had a great view of the ocean. Unfortunately, the first photo here is a bit deceiving. I assumed that the tent in the photo belonged to site 30, but it's actually the neighboring site's (31). The second photo is more accurate of the space 30 has. There are also no clear markers to divide both sites in the middle so hopefully, you and your neighbors respect each other's space. There wasn't much flat ground to set up our tent in a way that didn't have us sleeping on sloped ground. I'd recommend a 2-4 person tent size (or even two 2 person tents for more flexibility). Short walking distance to the bathrooms and not so close that you'll smell them from the site either! Raccoons truly are active here and seem to target new visitors. We arrived in the evening and had one car door open to carry things out. After hearing a loud plastic crinkling sound, I turn my flashlight towards the car and see a raccoon jumping out with our chip bag! I chased him a bit and he eventually relented, threw the bag down, and scurried off. It felt as if he couldn't believe I'd have the audacity to go after him. They also got into our neighbor's trash bags when they were setting up camp.

Raccoons. As soon as the sun sets at Kirk Creek campground, about 7-10 raccoons roam the campground looking for food. Upon arrival, we were warned about this by the camp hosts but did not anticipate how invasive they would be (our neighbors found two of them inside their van). Our 1.5 yr old pit mix did her best to keep them away from our site but unfortunately, they left her unable to rest for the remainder of our time here. The campground offers amazing coastal views and a nice trail leading down to the rocky beach. We were lucky enough to spot humpback whales breaching while sitting next to our campfire in the morning. I would recommend to the owners of the campground invest in a better garbage disposal system, the raccoons have clearly figured out how to work their way around the outdated system they currently have.

Superb campground. Pros: Location/view. Most sites have an excellent view, very few are a little more limited. Easy access to trail to beach. Easy access to trailhead across the roadMostly decent smelling pit toilets. Cons:Limited tent space/flat ground in some campsitesResilient racoons. Did not care that we had two dogs in our site that would run them off. Whiffs of pit toilet when outside of toilets was worse than being inside the building. Would recommendWill revisit

First time staying at this campground. Next time we would like to have a campsite on the bluff. Enjoyed the walk from the campground down to the beach, particularly since the creek was still running.

I love Kirk Creek! It is the most beautiful campground I've ever been too. Bathrooms are also well maintained. The campsites are large enough that you are not in your neighbors space. We stayed at Campground 30 and we were able to put three 6 person tents on the site. Parking: you can definitely fit 2 cars in the space. Nearly every site had 2 cars in the spot. If you have more than 2 you can park right outside the campsite. There's a little parking lot there. Firewood: The camp host sells firewood, but if you are coming anytime after 7:30pm you will need to bring your own. We learned that the hard way and had to drive 15 minutes to the next (very small) town. Arriving late: We arrived at 8:30 and there was still light out. We had some friends get there at midnight and I was worried that they would close the gate and they did not. Overall I would 1,000% camp here again. Thus this being our 2nd time camping here. I would also aim for campsites #8,9, or 10. But really all of them have a great view!

Great location - particularly love the sound of tides during the night. Host is very friendly and provided us utensils that we forgot to bring. The reason I gave 4 star not 5 is because of the lack of water taps. The cleanness of the toilet is so so. But nothing can beat the view!

Never had disappointed when staying at Kirk Creek campground. Cleaning site, friendly and helpful host along with the stunning view in most of the site. My favorite CG in the West coast.

First time visitors! The views were beautiful, the surrounding hikes were fun adventures and the staff was polite and helpful! Truly a hidden treasure. The raccoons are a fun addition but they are definitely brave! We cant wait to visit again.

Beautiful views! No cell reception. Very quiet and relaxing. No sinks, no water, and septic tank toilets. The toilets were the only reason for the 4 star rating.
