This was our third time staying at South Ortona and every time is fabulous. Theres not a lot to do there but sitting at the river and watching boats and birds is very relaxing. We will be back.

We absolutely loved our stay at this Army Corps of Engineers campground! It was everything we hoped for quiet, peaceful, and incredibly clean. The views were stunning; we looked out over beautiful pastures and the river, and it was pure serenity.It was the kind of place where you can just breathe a little deeper and truly relax.We felt safe, the grounds were well maintained, and the whole experience exceeded our expectations.Well most definitely be back again already looking forward to it!

We have been going to Ortona for about 5 years now and its like our second home. We love it so much. Its so peaceful. The sunsets are so stunning. The Ranger and Joyce are so so nice and so helpful. One of the things we miss the most is the fishing pier. We are hoping it gets repaired soon. Its taking a lot longer than we thought. The recommendations that we have are that the bathrooms are in desperate need of remodeling and the smell in the water be taken care of. The water would never have an egg smell until the last couple of times we have gone. All in all this is still our favorite campground. Anyone looking for activities or restaurants to go in the area here are a couple of recommendations. Blueberry Bunch Farm you can pick your own fresh blueberries, 7 Mares is a good Mexican restaurant, Labelle Brewery, Dollar General Market has everything you need, Pelican Snowballs has so many flavored snow cones and Two Peas has fresh baked pies.

We had a lovely time at this excellent site! Beautifully maintained grassy site right on the river, very clean, peaceful with friendly and helpful host couple also staying on site. Nice flat concrete stands with picnic tables. So interesting to watch the boats going through the massive lock, the Corps of Engineers do an amazing job of managing this powerful waterway. So quiet and peaceful, we saw lots of rabbits and different birds, two gorgeous otters, a manatee going through the lock, and lots of fish, although the site fishing pier is currently closed. However, just across the river footbridge is a nice fishing platform, very popular. This is a super site for dogs, and our Havanese Beau loved it. Several other well behaved dogs on site with their owners and of course on leashes. Owners clearly picking up well after their dogs. Some nice trees on site although most sites in the sun. The site is surrounded by farmland or preserves and isolated so seems very safe and quiet. Nice clean toilet and shower blocks, and the RV hookups are well maintained and easy to use. This is traditional RV-ing at its best, grills and fire rings available as well as a covered area for gathering or family BBQ's. The river side of the site runs down to the fast-flowing water, so caution needed for young children. No play park for children, but lots of grassy space to run around. La Belle is about 10 miles away for shops and dining. This is the perfect spot for a quiet, restful stay. Enjoy!

This is my favorite Corp of Engineer campground to date. The many sites along the canal are well spaced, level and most all with a view of the boat traffic on the canal. The bathrooms are clean and well kept. Most of all I appreciate the camp host. She made sure that we were happy with our site selection and assisted when a change need to be made. She gets 5 stars for customer service.

It is a well kept quiet park, bathroom need alittle TLC. Flushing issues. Could have been cleaned better too. I chose to use my own shower and toilet for 2 weeks since no sewer. It was do able for the price!!

Great little campground. All roads are paved and sites are level concrete pads, most are back in, which is easy to accomplish. Half are on the water side. Both sides can easily see the water. The area outside the RV door is level gravel with a sturdy picnic table covered by a metal roof. All areas have grass and the landscaping is well cared for. It was so interesting to walk to the lock and across it and watch the operation. the restrooms were clean, though ours at the east end didn't have a means to dry your hands and it was shut down mid-stay due to plumbing issues. Only observation for improvement would be MORE TREES. Some sites are well shaded, but most are not.

Nice little campground. Quiet and peaceful. Only downside was that we could not fish due to the dock being closed until repaired.We will camp here again in the future

Cement Pad, found out after the fact could have gone to smaller site letting back of MH hang over the pad as long as jacks are on the pad.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
