Ortona South Campground in Glades County is located 39 min northeast of Lehigh Acres, FL with an elevation of 13 feet. There are a total of 52 campsites. The campground is open all year. 48 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 30 and 45 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. 49 sites have electric and water hookups. Fees range from $30.00 to $35.00. Some amenities include shower, dump station. Activities include biking, fishing.

We love this place! Its quiet and the sunsets are spectacular in March. Its a short drive to LaBelle where there are some good restaurants. We had a great dinner at an Italian place and a really delicious breakfast at the airport. We enjoy watching the wide variety of boats go through the lock. We have often seen otters, gators, and eagles. Very relaxing.

Super clean campground with really nice staff. Great location and beautiful views of the lock and the amazing rippling creek . We loved watching the Otters, the Limpkins and the Egrets. We will be back.

We enjoy the peaceful feeling staying here on the river, especially if get site looking over the river and the lock. There is always a lot of birds and other wildlife in the area. We find it a great place to unwind for a few days.

Very surprised and pleased with the level, scenic and somewhat private site (39). We were allowed to check in a bit early and the camp host was kind and funny.

The hosts Vicki and Joe were very nice. We love walking the road to watch the cows. Our dogs get into staring contests with them and usually lose. One morning I met the owner of the ranch on his rounds. What a nice gentleman. The sunrises and sunsets are spectacular. The grounds are well maintained. Watching the boats pass by makes for a relaxing afternoon.

Lot size was large. Very clean campground. Did not use the bathroom but based on everything we saw they must be nice. Lots of area to walk the dog. We had a great time. Camp host were very helpful with where to go to do laundry.

Liked all of Ortona lock camp, hosts were exceptional. Major disappointment was being locked out from access to the North side of the lock and beyond.

Beautiful well kept campground. The shower houses were very clean. The hosts went far above and beyond to make our experience all it could be. They were especially helpful with packages we had delivered to fix some issues with our vehicle. It's a tough reservation to get but well worth any trouble it may be. The wildlife in the creek wa fun, otters a few gators and birds I had not seen before.

This is a lovely campground. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The site was beautiful, clean and spacious like most COE campgrounds. We were very disappointed that the Army COE closed the lock to all visitors until further notice and without reason given per registration booth staff. Even the handicapped viewing and fishing area was kept locked for the duration of our stay. Sadly, because of the ongoing drought we couldnt have any fires, not even a propane fire bowl, yet the park was allowing open fires in the barbecue grills. Lastly, I dont fully understand why the dump station is constructed the way it is! Having to get on your knees to make the well below grade connection is very odd. This is a park we would definitely return to again.

A nice quiet retreat with large sites and abundant wildlife. The facilities are a little run down. The bath house needs renovating as the fan (no a/c) in the men's shower didn't work, broken shower tiles, and gout that was cracked and missing. One of the street lights was in stobe mode all night. The fishing pier has been closed due to damage from a hurricane and not slated to be repaired.

Overall have stayed many times. Did not like site 3 as too close together with other sites. Other sites we have stayed at here are more spacious. The bathrooms/ showers need work. Although very clean needs work on showers

This place is the best! Both sets of hosts keep the sites so clean & are so pleasant & helpful! The area is really nice along the river! The restrooms are always clean. A very quiet & peaceful campground!

Very nice clean campground. A dog run would be GREAT and there is plenty of space. Nice bathrooms & showers, grounds well kept. They recently closed access to the walkway over the dam to access the locks. We enjoyed walking across to the park and watching the boats.
