The campsites are great, especially the waterfront sites in the west loop. Concrete pads are great. The bath houses / restrooms are subpar though and the recessed RV dump is awful and needs to be raised to ground level.

Large, well kept sites. Quiet. Not kid friendly due to no activities but that's why we enjoy it.

So glad they opened up the gates by the locks again so that you can get a close-up to the boats going through. Rest station is OK. Spacious sites. Biting insects were pretty horrendous this November. Its my fifth time there and I will be back again.

A very beautifully kept campground with a view of the canal. The host was very helpful. You can tell the staff take pride in this place.

We had 9 days reserved in our favorite site #22. Because of construction Recreation.gov canceled 8 days with only a few months notice. This created a large hardship for us.

Well kept quiet park by the lock. We use this park to take a rest on the way to the keys. Everyone is nice and helpful.

Sites are very clean and level. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Not a good place for kayaking as you cannot put in on the campground side. You must drive around 15 minutes to the ramp on the other side of the locks. You can however cross the locks on the walkway.

No frill beautiful campground. Well kept cement pads. Nice picnic tables. Electric and water included. Half the site back up to the river. Nice to watch the boats go thru the locks. There is a fishing pier.

Great campground ! Spacious site with shrubbery between sites to create privacy between campers. Cant wait to visit again!
@FranF542 · Camped on Feb 7, 2021 at Campsite #22
Nice campground along the river. Some sites not on the waterfront have a lovely view of the open Florida prairie/pastureland behind the campground. There is also a nice variety of birds in this park including sandhill cranes, limpkins, egrets, herons, painted buntings, and mourning doves. It's a quiet, relaxing place to visit.

Shhh...don't tell any one about Ortona South.
The staff is SO NICE. The grounds are immaculate. The locale is great because you have the river/canal on one side and a cattle range on the other.

The cleanest showers and restroom in a park . Quite and excellent site preparation. The attendees very polite and knowledgeable. I would live there forever. If you want a peaceful camping experience this is it.
