Need to stock up since LaBelle (the closest town, which does have great shopping and restaurants) is about 10 miles. Camp hosts are excellent, friendly & helpful. Entertainment is peaceful relaxation watching the boats lock through, lots of birds, and saw an alligator & several river otters in the canal that cuts through the middle of the Cg. Excellent Episcopal church about 7 miles west, and LaBelle has a great library next to a lovely park on tthe river, nice neighborhood to walk.

Like most COEs, the spacing was great, the power and electric worked perfect, and the bathrooms / showers were clean. Hosts were friendly and helpful, and almost every spot had a water view. We walked down to the wood fishing dock and saw manatees feeding on the plants. Not a ton to do real close, but if you are looking for a relaxing stay, this would work find!

So interesting to observe barges, boats, seadoos, etc travel the locks. Fishing was Fun. Watched water otter play/feed in the running creek. Campers & camp hosts were enjoyable. Nice, quiet, and well-maintained campground.

This is a beautiful Campground in a lovely setting next to the waterway. Though no fault of their own, bring bug spray!

Excellent!
Staff is friendly, kind and knowledgeable.
The facilities are neat and super clean, included restrooms and showers.
And the best part, no loud people or music. You can really enjoy the environment.

We enjoyed our stay at Ortona South. Staff was helpful and friendly. The view of the Caloosahatchee river was gorgeous. We enjoyed watching the boats. We stayed 2 weeks. The A.C.E. campgrounds in general need to put a counter top or ledge near the sink in the restroom. The ladies room has two showers that are divided by a shower curtain. Something else needs to be thought about here because two people taking a shower dont have any privacy. We observed that the cleaning crew not being thorough w. cleaning the campsites. Fish and game need to come here and patrol. We saw lots of fishermen not abiding by the laws. Taking fish they are not supposed to. After the fishing pier closed, we saw someone take a campsite w. their truck temporarily and 4 guys started fishing behind our campsite. We were told by the host when we checked in that there has been some thefts of fishing gear.

Level cement driveway for rig and large gravel site were very much appreciated! Barking dogs were only issue but very quiet at night.

Lost electric twice, once for hours. Bike riders & walkers can't cross lock & dam. No reason given. No washer and dryer.
Beautiful sunsets and waterway. Good fishing.
