Need to stock up since LaBelle (the closest town, which does have great shopping and restaurants) is about 10 miles. Camp hosts are excellent, friendly & helpful. Entertainment is peaceful relaxation watching the boats lock through, lots of birds, and saw an alligator & several river otters in the canal that cuts through the middle of the Cg. Excellent Episcopal church about 7 miles west, and LaBelle has a great library next to a lovely park on tthe river, nice neighborhood to walk.

Like most COEs, the spacing was great, the power and electric worked perfect, and the bathrooms / showers were clean. Hosts were friendly and helpful, and almost every spot had a water view. We walked down to the wood fishing dock and saw manatees feeding on the plants. Not a ton to do real close, but if you are looking for a relaxing stay, this would work find!

We had a wonderful week at Ortona South Campground. The sites are large, well spaced, and offer very nice views. It was great watching the boats pass through the locks. The hosts were very friendly, efficient, and accommodating. Overall, it was a great experience.

This place is a great getaway from civilization. No road sounds at all. The park was interesting with the lock and dam system. You can go out when boats are coming through and watch how the lock works. The campsites we're all paved and very clean with a dedicated grill, fire ring and covered picnic table, although not many sites have shade. We saw plenty of wildlife including two birds we haven't seen before although we only live 25 miles away. We like biking when we camp but this park is too small to bike around in. If you're more adventurous you can bike off property to hwy 80 and go for miles but that's not for me. Everyone we met were very nice. I highly recommend this park for anyone who likes quiet camping and doesn't need something to do at all times. We will be back to this one.

Loved this Campground has been put on our top 10. Loved the cement pads and graveled sites and all the places to walk with the Dogs. We were able to watch the Boats coming and going very quiet and relaxing.Although, I do have mention the Bathrooms...HORRIBLE!!! Since this Campground does not have Sewer the Ranger/Camp Host need to be more diligent in cleaning. First morning after our arrival going to take a shower and thinking how awful it smelt (strong order of poop). All of sudden I realize that someone had pooped all behind the seat installed on the wall and in the corner of the shower. Mind you this had not just happened but could tell it had been there awhile. My Girlfriend said she had smelt it too but was in the other shower. Told the Camp Host and they said they would get right on it, didn't feel the need to check on their work. Next morning DISGUSTING as it was STILL there. Told the Camp Host again (their words thanks for bringing it to our attention). Next morning you could tell the Bathroom had been cleaned per say. BUT, the poop which had been there at least 2 Days I'm aware of and longer, was still somewhat there. If your going to do a Job (whether you get paid for it monetarily or by free camping) do your Job and do it thoroughly. Finally, had to take a shower in the camper because it was just disgusting!!!!

Lovely setting, nice campsites. I had a site on the canal and watched the boats pass by. Walked over to the locks and watched as boats moved in and out. Very interesting. Would certainly stay again.

So interesting to observe barges, boats, seadoos, etc travel the locks. Fishing was Fun. Watched water otter play/feed in the running creek. Campers & camp hosts were enjoyable. Nice, quiet, and well-maintained campground.

Staff is friendly, kind and knowledgeable.
The facilities are neat and super clean, included restrooms and showers.

We enjoyed our stay at Ortona South. Staff was helpful and friendly. The view of the Caloosahatchee river was gorgeous. We enjoyed watching the boats. We stayed 2 weeks. The A.C.E. campgrounds in general need to put a counter top or ledge near the sink in the restroom. The ladies room has two showers that are divided by a shower curtain. Something else needs to be thought about here because two people taking a shower dont have any privacy. We observed that the cleaning crew not being thorough w. cleaning the campsites. Fish and game need to come here and patrol. We saw lots of fishermen not abiding by the laws. Taking fish they are not supposed to. After the fishing pier closed, we saw someone take a campsite w. their truck temporarily and 4 guys started fishing behind our campsite. We were told by the host when we checked in that there has been some thefts of fishing gear.
