This was our first trip out in our recently purchased, 22 year-old RV, and the staff were understanding and helpful. We had a great stay and we left with restored souls. Both Carol and I should now be good for at least, the next few months of "rat race". We had less issues with the old, under-used RV than we planned on, which is a big 'plus'. I look forward to revisiting Ortona South soon.

They need to report that the main dock hasnt been usable for two years as it was the sole reason we booked there!

This location was very peaceful and super clean. The spaces are large and accommodating with lush grass. The bathrooms were clean but were not air conditioned. Half of the spaces were unavailable due to some kind of construction and the wooden bridge that leads to the water was closed due to damage. But honestly it was too hot to do much outside. I didnt really understand why it said the hours of operation were until sunset, yet many times the front gate was locked by 4 pm. Also, I had thoroughly read the information about mobility vehicles for handicapped visitors (electric wheelchairs, scooter, golf cart) and it stated they were allowed for necessary transport around the park as long as the person had a handicapped placard. My husband, a medically disabled veteran, was using a golf cart to dispose of the trash at the entrance of the park when the park host chased him down and yelled at him that THOSE ARE NOT ALLOWED HERE. I explained what the website stated and she rolled her eyes and said she was going to go call her boss. She never returned to verify the final verdict so I guess they are allowed. We were not speeding or horse playing. It isnt a huge park, but for people that have a different time walking long distances, they just want to feel normal and do every day tasks without being harassed. The park is clean and secluded. And the park host takes her job seriously, but lacked compassion and customer service. We would return if ever in the area again.

Ortona was very nice except for barking dogs in the site across from ours. The lock was interesting to watch.

We went for a weeklong trip, only to find out that there was no fishing allowed. The bridges and fishing piers were closed.

It was quiet and laid back. The option of crossing the control structure to the lock was especially nice.I am disappointed in that fishing the spillway has been cut off on the campground side. The lock side fishing platform is shoulder to shoulder so I couldn't fish during my visit. Otherwise the camping was very nice. It is one of our favorite places, other then love bug season.

This is a small, clean and wonderful place along the river near Labelle...The Campground Managers are wonderful; friendly and engaging. Bathrooms are clean as are the well maintained grounds. Been there many times and always enjoy coming back! I do wish that they would invest in a decent WiFi system...It's the 21st century!!
