Site 51 was fantastic. Close to restrooms. Paved site. Close to locks, which we enjoyed watching the boats go through.

We loved this park. Quiet, except for the charming cooing of doves each day.

Love this campground! We have stayed here several times in several different sites. It is extremely quiet and peaceful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are clean with nice hot water for showers. There are two circles of campsites, and the bathrooms serve 20-30 sites per bathroom. Each bathroom has two showers per male/female, and two toilets per male/female. We like sites 21-30 along the river the most. It is a little windier, but there's a better view of the water. Today I watched the manatees feed along the shore. Pretty fun! I've also seen alligators in the water. All the other sites are great too! We plan to stay here again.

Our stay at Ortona South Campground was absolutely fantastic in every way. The spacious sites provided ample room for our camper, and the level concrete pad made setup a breeze. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, we enjoyed the peaceful ambiance and felt completely immersed in nature.The campground's cleanliness, especially the bathroom and shower facilities, was impressive, contributing to a comfortable stay. Additionally, the easy-to-use dump station and well-maintained electric and water hookups added convenience to our camping experience.We appreciated the thoughtful layout of the campground, which allowed plenty of space and shade for our large dogs to relax in. The grounds were meticulously maintained, creating a pleasant environment for leisurely walks and relaxation.The campground hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome throughout our stay. Safety was never a concern, and we felt secure at all times.Exploring the locks and observing the diverse fish and wildlife added an extra dimension of enjoyment to our trip. And when the sun set, gathering around the campfire was the perfect way to end the day.Moreover, the campground's proximity to a store came in handy for any forgotten essentials, ensuring a stress-free experience. Overall, Ortona South Campground exceeded our expectations, and we already booked our next stay!!

One of the cleanest, we'll run sites I have stayed at. Fishing is very good ??.
Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet well maintained campground.

Enjoyed this Army Corp of Engineer campground. Very helpful, friendly staff. The bath houses kept super clean. Each campsite is roomy & large. You have a concrete pad with electric & water (no sewer but does have dump station). You also have a crushed stone patio area with covered picnic table, charcoal grill and fire ring. Good space between each site with beautiful sunset/sunrise views. There is a nice walking dock you can fish from. Every evening around 6:30-7:30 a very large alligator comes to greet you at the one end of the dock. Don’t worry...you are far enough up for safety to just appreciate this creature and get pictures or take video. The towns of LaBelle, Moore Haven & Clewiston are close by for most of your needs. Fort Myers is 45-60 minutes away. We didn’t get there but heard Sanibel Island is a must to visit for beach and shelling with a friendly atmosphere. As most of the ACOE campgrounds, this is another one I will add to my favorites!!! We will definitely be back in the future when in this area.

Since we have started camping after many years away this and all the federal parks are our go to getaways .
Our federal and state parks are a resource
to be enjoyed by all.

The hosts were wonderful, everything was clean and enjoyable.
There is a combination lock after hours and if that could be changed with larger numbers, very hard to see after dark.
It was a great experience.
@RenaldD684 · Camped on Mar 12, 2021 at Campsite #51
Nice neat camp ground. No American flag was displayed at the area of the check in booth. There was a flag across the river at the locks but not at the camp ground.
