Beautiful, relaxing campground. Watch boats going through the lock and we saw manatees swimming by the dam. May visit again someday.

Another top notch COE campground. Not a lot to do there, but we like the peace and quiet. The lock is interesting to watch.

The bathrooms, and showers not working at one end. No sewer hookup at all? Otherwise, it was an ok visit. I heard Fish Fry was great!

The space around our spot was not too big (let's say small...) and it was very open. Beautiful view. A pity that the nearby restrooms were closed (drainage-problems?) so we had to walk quite a bit to take a shower.

This is a very nice campground. The campground is well maintained and the sites are spacious and level. We had no problem backing into our site. AT&T cell service and hot spot was good. We were able to stream on our tv with no problem. The dam and locks were pretty cool to see.

What a pleasure to stay at the Ortona South campground. This is one of the nicest campgrounds we've stayed at in the southwest Florida area. Clean, plenty of space, well maintained, great location, beautiful surroundings, river access for fishing (though we didn't) and incredible staff. If you want to stay at an ideal campground, book a visit to Ortona South. - LJ

Very nice park.Just spent 3 nights there.Unfortunately we wont be going back until About May,as that is the soonest we could find a vacancy.Sure would be nice if all the state and federal parks would hold back about 25 percent of the campsites for the residents that live in the state.The snowbirds hog them all up and force residents to use the camps when its blazing hot in the summer.

The campground is excellent. It would be nice to open the access to the lock. Maybe limit hours and days but have the lock accessible.

Very clean and well maintained. Great place to spend a few nights back on the grid after boondocking. Saw some fun birds on the creek flowing into the canal.

We always enjoy staying at Ortona South. The campsites are generous, with concrete pads and permanent picnic tables with roofs. It's always interesting to walk over to the locks and watch the boats go through. The only drawback is that the washers and dryers were removed; I really hope there is a plan to replace them.
