Still love the Ft. Pickens area. But the campground has gone down hill. The common areas such as the restrooms and showers really need to be refurbished. Plus whoever cleans them needs to raise their standards or be replaced. Also, the campsite parking was an issue. They don't want you parking in front of your camper if you're getting on the grass at all. I can understand when it comes to keeping the park looking nice but no one wants to park away from their site. Especially those that are handicapped. Widen the campsite entrance and that could easily be resolved. Like I said, I still enjoy the Ft. Pickens area. I always recommend it to others. But it's time for some updates and a little change.

I was a little confussed on checking in. The gate did not give me a map or directions. I stopped where the registration office use to be and saw a sign that was turned backward telling me to proceed to site.

We camped at E02 and E04 this week and enjoyed our time there. The Campground is kept very clean and maintained. The sites are each very different with some having overhanging branches or short concrete pads but it is all documented very clearly on each description before you make your reservation. The beaches there are beautiful and we enjoyed the walk there. The only reason for 4 star instead of 5 star was there is only 1 dump station for B,C,D,E campgrounds so check out day can be a wait. We went to A campground to dump as it is cleaner and less congested. Showers and bathrooms were kept very clean although no A/C. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

I wish that the campground had a store.

Love it. My only suggestion is there be a list of things going on in park. For instance viewing of the blue angels for practice or the snorkeling in the bay. Ect.

On E64 the electric power box was too far from the concrete pad hardly could reach it.

It was nice. Wish they had sewer at all sites.

Fort Pickens is one of our favorite campgrounds. You have access to the gulf, the bay, and the fort. Lot's to explore and learn about. One thing I will do next time is look more carefully at the site selection - some of the sites have shade, while others have more sun (there is a restoration project in progress to replace lost trees).
@DonitaM5748080 · Camped on Jul 9, 2025 at Campsite #E2
E2 is only partially shaded with all afternoon/evening sun on the front half. This site is longer than most. I had a 25 bus and a 2 door Jeep with room to spare. The showers/restrooms are not vented well for summer usage. Even the cold water is hot! Washer/dryer is in restroom building in C loop. Dryers do not dry well. Be prepared to run 2xs. Each machine is $2.50 a load.

Site was level and clean. My complaints are the parking was very limited and staff had issue with the angle the vehicle was parked on site off the grass. Dont expect the best showers as the facilities are very minimalistic. Also be sure to remember park entry is not included in site cost and you will be charged extra just to get in. With AT&T we had minimal phone/internet service and if planning on going during events on the island plan food and fuel accordingly as it can take several hours for traffic to clear so you can get out of the park.

Campground is small on loop a, worked well for us as we tent camped. Short walk to beach and wow, its just lovely. Island is very cool to explore but HOT. Showers need better ventilation. Noticed the vent shafts have about a 4 inch layer of dust and it really doesnt pull moisture or humidity out, so even after taking a shower its about 100 plus degrees in there and impossible to dry off. Maintenance needs to be done there. Other than that campground is quiet at night and easy to sleep in a tent. Site A04 is a designated tent spot with only water. If your tent is low enough it will fit under a large tree at spot and provide shade. Ants are TERRIBLE, be prepared to clean up any food bits or face the wrath of ant stings!

The campground was the most beautiful this year! The grounds were cut and the hosts were alert to campers concerns. We went to several of the Ranger led programs. The Rangers were interesting and knowledgeable about their subject matter.Having the Blue Angels fly the week we were there was a big plus!

We loved the campground! We enjoyed visiting the fort and riding our bikes on the trails, and the beautiful beaches and dunes. We went during Blue Angels performing in Pensacola beach. Will definitely go back!

Have camped here for 60 years and never tire of the beauty, wonderful trails, beach side and bay, fort, sunset, Blue Angels practices.... on and on. GREAT place to visit. Even better to camp. This time the bathrooms were not well maintained. Some showers closed altogether, many needed repair. Hot water wasn't available after peak hours. All shower stalls had mold, peeling paint and were sometimes nasty. The dump stations at the entrance to Loops B, C, D and E: the one on the right was locked out. A tall retaining wall has been added around both of the dump sites. It makes dumping very difficult. Everyone I observed had to manually pick up on the the black water and gray water hoses to get the contents to flow over tall wall, again and again. Very bad design. We went to the dump station in the A Loop and had no problems. First time I've even had anything negative to say about this park. It is a TREASURE.

We stayed here for 7 nights.Campground was packed!!!Staff and campers were all very friendly!!The only complaint I have is the showers or the bathrooms were not cleaned thoroughly entire time we were there.They partially swept out bathroom once,however they did replace toilet paper a few times.But if campers would clean up after themselves the staffs job would be so much easier.Overall had great time at beach,the fort,and fishing pier even caught some fish!! This is second time we've been there and definitely plan to go again!!!!

E65 is an excellent site. Shaded, good length on pad, mostly flat ground with green grass, and close to restrooms. The campground host, on our dates, was very nice. My complaints are lack of bathroom ventilation, vehicles parking on grass, and dogs running loose on our site and at beach. No one is enforcing the no dogs on beach rule.
@JamesP3218459 · Camped on Jun 29, 2025 at Campsite #C46
Campsites are short, with many having to park their tow vehicle in overflow parking due to restrictions on parking in the grass. Site extensions are needed improvements along with attention to the poor conditions of the shower houses. Beach access is good with somewhat available parking depending on the time you arrive. Overall a good experience with improvements needed.

A26 is a very nicely shaded site. Its short, but could fit our 25 skoolie and our Jeep sideways. My complaint is about the restrooms. Its so hot. The ventilation is terrible. Heat rises, why arent there fans blowing hard, and vents at the top of walls to let heat out. Very easy fix with little expense. Years of people complaining, and nothing done. The showers are like a sauna inferno. The campground host for A is a very nice man.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
