The campground is great but as warned when registering there are some low hanging trees. For larger campers, you may have to park your tow vehicle in the parking lot as both the vehicle and camper have to fit on the pad. The host in Campground A was on a power trip to say the least. I got in trouble a couple of times because my sister's car wasn't parked properly in front of my camper. The first time she parked it long wise and he came by and told me that it wasn't allowed because they have to get off in the grass to move it (mostly rocks with patches of grass). He was nice then as I told him no problem as it wasn't my car, but I would tell them to move it to the parking lot. The second time a couple days later she parked it at a slight angle to where she could get out without getting on the grass. A little while later here comes the host and goes into chewing me out about it stating that this was my third warning. I immediately told him that I would again get it moved. He kept going on and on and kept mentioning that it was my third time of being warned. After listening to him and telling him I would get it moved, I proceeded to tell him that this was my second warning and not my third. He then threatened to call the police and have us thrown out of the park and ruin our vacation. We then watched him go across the street and start yelling and finger pointing at another camper. He definitely wanted the power. I do know his volunteer term is up at the end of November. Anytime the park staff or Rangers came by they were nice and never gave us any problems. Like I said, the campground is great and we will be back, but hopefully this 1 particular Host doesn't get invited back anymore.

I have camped at Ft. Pickens several times over the years. The campground is still a good place to camp. However, this year it was like camping in a daycare. Rules and regulations weren't enforced. We had a tent camper set up next to us with 8 tents, some of the tents were on our site and several people, apparently you can park any place and direction you want. If you are going to have rules, they should be enforced the same to all campers.

The only complaint that I have is regarding the length and width of the pad. I did check for my trailer and van being too long but it seems something was off by several feet which caused me to park my van in the overflow area. Not a big deal. The showers and restrooms were clean and working great! The dump station was functional, and the site was otherwise as expected. The fort itself was awesome! Give yourself about a day to experience the fort and the batteries! Dont forget to see the National Naval Museum too! Its free!

In some ways I would like to lie and say things were horrible so that less people try and book the campground. Its not easy getting open summer dates here. But I cant lie we love this park and campground. Never an issue if you just read the site driveway size and keep your stuff within allowed limits. The trouble happens when folks think the park will adjust the rules for those that that dont play by the rules. As for bathrooms and showers. Yes its old block house with toilets and showers in hot humid sandy environment with no AC. If you are expecting temperature control bath house. Its not here yet. Which I love cause it may help keep it at least able to get an A loop site in summer. Hosts and rangers have always been nice and professional. Make sure to see blue angels practicing from the flight line at the museum.

The driveway is short but could have been longer if the undergrowth could have been trimmed back. A02. Had trouble keeping our vehicle out of the road. Easy access to beach. The best beach for littles is near the Ft Pickens ferry on the bay

This is a favorite campground which we have been enjoying since the days it was a Florida State Park. (Our first stay was in 1962. Can you believe it!) I rate this whole area from Gulf Shores, AL to Panama City, FL as one of the best beaches in the world. Be sure to enjoy the trails as well. No need to leave the Fort PIckens area for other activity, just enjoy the natural world here. If you are lucky you can enjoy the practice of the Blue Angels from the Pensacola Air Station.

What a wonderful location right on the beautiful white sand beach. Nice bike/hiking trail from the camp ground to Fort Pickens. Watch for the dolphins swimming right from the campground beach entrance.

This campground is the best, the people are great and you couldn't ask for a closer to the beach location. We go EVERY year. We can't wait to get there each year.

Beautiful site with direct access to the beach. Laundry room is convenient with pay range available so no need to bring coins. There is also a huge sink to do the dishes.

Bathroom are spacious, clean and water is hot and has good pressure.

My drawbacks: No playground, so bring toys, bikes, scooters or beach supply if you plan to travel with small kids. Also, weather is very unpredictable, so maybe be sure to be well equipped to face storms.

This campground is a gem. Pristine white sand beaches and emerald green waters. Absolutely love this campground. Always stay in A loop as it has the most space for each site.

Check in was easy and the park employee was very helpful. We saw an incredible sunset with an added bonus of the Blue Angels doing a fly by at the same time. The park was clean and quiet. Making reservations even a day before arrival was uncomplicated.
