Great location- short walk to beaches. Some sites are made for smaller rvs. Overflow parking is available nearby. Power pedestal is at the rear of site. Be aware of cord length. Quiet campground, fairly busy on weekends. We were at site E25. Highly recommend!

We stumbled upon this place and really enjoyed the campground. It was refreshing to see the camp host patrolling. The spaces were far enough apart from each other, level and it was great to have fire pits with grills. I only gave four stars because we had to pay for a site with hookups we did not need. The beaches were great, the Fort interesting and the town area wasn't far.

This was our first time camping in an RV and camping at a national campground. I think it was a really good experience. Fort Pickens is at the tip of a very long peninsula. The Gulf , Pensacola Bay, and the white sand are beautiful. It was quiet and peaceful. We definitely would like to come again.

The Gulf beach is a short walk and the Intercoastal is even a shorter walk. Also enjoyed a nice stroll to the fishing pier, where the locals and the snowbirds come each day (Kind of like Cheers, where everybody knows each other name). Keep in mind that the paved sites are not super-long, and there is no parking on the grass. You may have to park tow vehicles (or towed vehicles) a little bit away from your site.

The campground was closed due to high winds and rain, in doing so we received 4 emails about the closure.
After the rain had finished there has been no communication about the reopening.

My only complaint is the showers need to be cleaned regularly. You have no choice but to shower in there because you have no sewer hookup. There was mold on one of the shower curtains and it shower wasn't cleaned!

What an awesome campground!! We will be back. Hopefully the camp host thats there now, wont be when we come back. The older gentleman with a beard. I was made to move my truck to to overflow because one wheel was on the grass. However he drove all over the park on the grass in his electric vehicle. I explained that my wife if handicapped (oxygen and mobility issues) but he didnt care. The other host who was older and skinny was very nice!!! Not sure why the guy with a beard has an axe to grind with everyone, but seems to think it does not apply to him. The rangers are awesome!! We love everything about the park with the exception of the one host. He was even chasing cars down with his Amber flashing light. Who knows what that was about. Anyway, I would encourage anyone to go. Dont let one bad apple spoil it!!

This is the second year that we have returned to Fort Pickens. The facilities are well taken care of. We were there during the extreme cold and dump stations and all but one restroom was closed. Please make sure your rv and tow vehicle can fit on your site. Each site gives the measurements. There is no parking on the grass and very few overflow parking spots. Also know that. during storms and high tides that the main road in and out will flood and you will need to drive through salt water. And most important of all, the beach is AMAZING!

This was our first time at Fort Pickens. It is a beautiful park with the Bay and the Ocean accessible within walking distance. But the park really needs to get organized. They are experiencing some really serious chaos in how they are handling the size of the sites. Turning people who have traveled long distances away. Our experience was since we booked late we had to move durning our stay which was no problem. But what we witnessed was another camper with the same exact size rig trying to stay in the same spot after we moved out and getting turned away even to the point that a Ranger was called out on them. It made no sense. There is no consistency between what the webite states and what the personnel in the office are enforcing at the park. And the desktop and the mobile versions of Recreation.gov disagree. The park needs to expand the sites but until they can get that done they need to work with people who support the park when they pay taxes! Also, and this is major...the bathrooms are very disgusting. Peeling paint, black mold everywhere. The park does not provide sewer hook ups, so the showers are essential to guests. A little attention would go a long way. Enjoy your trip if you manage to be the right size for the right spot.

Inconsistent enforcement of vehicle parking.....dependent upon campground host in your circle. Should be consistent.

Beautiful park with white sandy beaches and miles of Bayfront water. The fort/prison is massive and thereโ€™s so much history to take in while visiting here. We loved that we were able to explore the fort at our own leisure and pace. The staff at the check in and campground registration were friendly and helpful. Just a wonderful experience!
