Wasnt what I had hoped for. The beauty of the dunes and the sound of the ocean nearby is the only reason for giving 2 Stars. The site has too many pads placed too close together. This means more inconsiderate people are sure to be a constant annoyance.To make matters worse, a late arrival (8 hours late!) started setting up his campsite at midnight. The sound of the ocean and the site, with its beautiful dunes was overwhelmed by the sound of tone deaf visitors setting up their site in the middle of night. Too many people! I prefer a more off grid experience and cannot imagine what a visit in summer would be like for people who like their privacy.

Wish it was a little warmer but it was a great Thanksgiving weekend at the beach.

I arrived in the dark and found everything easy to access. The Campground was totally free of trash and a short walk to the beach. My non electric B14 site bordered the dunes where I could also see the lighthouse. The Beach was quiet and the campground is close to beach vehicle ramp access if you need it. Bathrooms were spotless, trash cans empty. In November its pretty slow at the campground so everybody there had plenty of space. I could see this being a more challenging place in the summer with no shade, near hwy 12 noise/traffic and lots of sites close together. Thanks to the hosts and rangers who are working in extremely difficult circumstances to give us wonderful recreation areas like this. Your work is appreciated! I would love to return here in the off season really memorable experience.

Spent four days/three nights in our 16' trailer at site C14 over Thanksgiving week. Pad is paved and fairly level, with limited but barely adequate room for backing (would not want to try it with a large rig when the place is crowded). Water pressure was fair (sometimes had to supplement with onboard tank pump) and power was clean (no sewer hook-up; dump station at the marina across the highway). Weather started out cool but pleasant, turning bitter cold on Friday (30 degrees with 30 MPH winds: I call that bitter). Outdoor shower rooms were closed. Men's and ladies' rooms were not heated. Be careful walking your dog: sand spurs are pretty much everywhere. Felt very comfortable and safe while there. Easy if moderately long walk to the actual beach. Strand is very wide, though. Overall a pleasant stay, but, with our small-capacity combined black/grey tank, we really prefer full hook-ups. Even so, we were able to conserve (as in not shower!) and were careful about collecting all grey water.

Had a great time. Went to the graveyard of the Atlantic museum. Very interesting look into history of the outer banks. Love how close the beach is from camp grounds and like the sand dunes.

Disappointed with showers. Outdoor ones were closed down and there were no indoor showers.

Good place to camp, just the way it is. Beautiful area for getting away to relax. Park personnel friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful if needed.

No wood fires allowed. Showers were shut down two days before we arrived. Nothing on the website about them closing.

Very nice campground. Already planning our next trip!

Nice campground in a gorgeous location. Well kept campsites and clean bathrooms with HEATED SHOWERS, although they are open to the outside and you get cold. Still that's much better than Ocracoke, that only has cold showers.

Nestled in the dunes with a short walk to the beach couldnt be better.

We love staying at Oregon Inlet and have been coming for many years. On the whole our experience was great and the restrooms were always spotless. However, on the road in front of our campsite #B23, there were two huge potholes. We stayed for ten days and didnt see anyone long enough to be able to tell them about it. They could have been filled temporarily with gravel and anyone like a host or ranger would have seen them. I realize that there are financial issues within the park service but feel that this is quite a serious issue and a friend of ours slipped down into the pothole while walking at night.

This campground was great. From here we got to see the Outer Banks from one point to the other. Nags Head, Duck, Wright Brothers Memorial, Hatteras Lighthouse, etc. Nice clean sites with power and water. We would definitely stay again. Also half price with our America the Beautiful Pass.

THE SHOWERS COULD USE AN UPGRADE TO INCLUDE NORMAL PREASURE.

Very nice campground, short walk to the ocean, plenty of space between campsites, a mother bear and her 2 cubs crossed the road in front of us at the Alligator River Refuge.just a great time

Campsites are small. The area next to the paved parking is not very level so it was hard to set up the site. Worst of all, the grass near the site was full of goatheads, small sharp burrs that the dog picked up on her paws and fur. We had to remove all of those and keep her off the ground unless we carried her to the road. We also had to take our shoes off every time we went in the camper so as not to carry them inside. The bathhouse was clean enough. The dump station is up the road near the bridge. It looks like a two side access but one dump hole is cemented over so its really on a single.

Clean restrooms, great location, loved the Marina, restaurant, dump station and gas across the street.The beach was just over the dunes.

Loved the location right on the beach. Tried to retake a shower but they are outside with half doors and no temperature control and you have to pull on a circular ring on a chain to get water and keep it down somehow while showering. Old!!!! I did not attempt this in November, just sayin!

The Oregon Inlet Campground is close to friends that I enjoy fishing with. I chose the electric and water available sites. The site was fairly level. Except for the 30 mile an hour winds blowing the camper the campground was quiet.

We had an excellent week of cool weather camping at Oregon Inlet the 2nd week of November. The on-line reservation process and check-in upon arrival went without a hitch. We had Electric and Water at our site, so we were very comfortable in the 5th wheel camper. (We did use the heat a couple of the nights.) We had one afternoon warm enough to sit on the beach. I really enjoyed hiking over the tall dunes to get to the beach; good exercise and a very pretty walk. (You do need to wear some kind of shoes though; there are quite a few sand burrs that are tough on the feet if you step on one.) We enjoyed several day trips while camping at Oregon Inlet. One morning we went to the fishing pier on the opposite side of the bridge. (A section of the previous Bonner Bridge repurposed as a fishing pier.) We also hiked around the Bodie Island Lighthouse, including walking trails at the back of the grounds. We spent half a day driving south further down the outer banks, with stops at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton, currently being refurbished, and then down to Frisco. We spent one afternoon hiking at Jockeys Ridge State park, both on the dunes the some trails back by the sound. The visitors center was also quite nice. We spent a day driving to the Alligator River Nature Preserve on the other side of Roanoke Island, and hiking a few of the trails over there. We actually saw a bear, but at quite a distance.My wife and I both vacationed on the Outer Banks as kids (camping), and again several times with our own kids (in nice vacation rental homes). It was very nice to get back there as a retired couple, camping at the same park we first camped at on Cape Hatteras when we were kids ourselves. If you don't need a plush private campground to enjoy camping, Oregon Inlet National Park Campground may be a good choice to check out.

We enjoyed this campground. It is just a short walk over the dunes to the beautiful beach. It is very clean and we Will definitely stay again if we are in the area. If you camper is bigger than 39 feet most sites would not work.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
