Spent four days/three nights in our 16' trailer at site C14 over Thanksgiving week. Pad is paved and fairly level, with limited but barely adequate room for backing (would not want to try it with a large rig when the place is crowded). Water pressure was fair (sometimes had to supplement with onboard tank pump) and power was clean (no sewer hook-up; dump station at the marina across the highway). Weather started out cool but pleasant, turning bitter cold on Friday (30 degrees with 30 MPH winds: I call that bitter). Outdoor shower rooms were closed. Men's and ladies' rooms were not heated. Be careful walking your dog: sand spurs are pretty much everywhere. Felt very comfortable and safe while there. Easy if moderately long walk to the actual beach. Strand is very wide, though. Overall a pleasant stay, but, with our small-capacity combined black/grey tank, we really prefer full hook-ups. Even so, we were able to conserve (as in not shower!) and were careful about collecting all grey water.

Sites could use some improvement- pad was eroding and uneven by >4 from left to right for our trailer. Full hookups would also be nice but we understand we booked the site with just water and electric.

This campground is simply amazing. Generously spaced camping spots and a short walk to the beach. Rangers and hosts were very friendly and helpful and were present each day up keeping the property.

Great first experience in the area. Showers in the campground were very lacking in design, basically a public restroom stall sat on top of a dune, little more than an outdoor shower with walls and a roof. Was however a wonderful experience. Would recommend to any other first timers to plan on using the shower in the RV, and purchasing an OSV permit for the beach.

We enjoyed the closeness to the beach and central proximity to the dunes of the south cape and activities in the north. The Wright Bros museum, Roanoke Island and the town of Duck.

Many sites were underwater. Our site could use gravel or something to raise level of a big depression. The showers need wind protection, better lighting, and a means to keep the water flowing. More hooks are needed at the showers. Bathroom lights were often turned off and dark in daylight (a host issue likely turning off the wrong switch). The bathrooms were not maintained very well. The bathroom roofs were not shingled. Otherwise the site was wonderful.

A great place to use as a Basecamp to explore the outer banks. As we were there in the winter showers were not open and two restrooms were being reroofed.

We just relaxed at the campground. Walked to the beach and marina everyday. My husband fished from the shore and I looked for shells.

We were not expecting the ruts on the beach from trucks and suvs, very hard walking!

I wish all the sites had power and water! Overall it's an awesome place to camp! Nothing like being super close to the beach.

It is beautiful there and nice. Rangers were real friendly and helpful. The beach was peaceful and not crowed. You could go for walks and go out fishing. It was wonderful! The showers could have been a little warmer. I h ad a boat with me and boat ramp was just across the road. I have been going here since 1969 and it just keeps getting better.

Nice place. Very narrow roads and site pads. It would be extremely hard to back in any larger rig (ours was a 35' 5er) if others are already there, as their vehicles would be in the way. Myself, and everyone else I had seen back in, had to encroach on others sites to make it in. There is absolutely no avoiding driving on the grass.

Nice to have Water & Electric at a National Parks site, with sanitary dump across the street. Easy beach access, reasonably spaced sites. Not overly noisy at night, considering proximity to the highway. Just far enough away. All the staff and volunteers were most helpful & friendly!
