I camped here a LOT as a kid, & now I'm taking my kids. I can't recommend this campground enough. Compared to others, there's space, privacy, shade, & beach access. This will always be my go-to when I visit the OBX. Also, site P018 is an EXCELLENT site with plenty of the above.

Loved my night at Frisco Campground! Very quiet with very clean restrooms and easy access to the beach at Site P008. The live oaks and vegetation make this site quite private.

This is the only public campground on the OBX that has truly shady campsites. When booking, look for those because there are also many no-shade spots. Facilities are basic but clean. It would be nice to have a ranger or someone to who could answer general questions. Rangers drive through a couple of random times a day and theyre easy to miss!

Stayed one night. Nice clean campsite. Facilities well maintained. Wildlife (racoons,deer,and birds) very active in the camp during day and overnight hours. Bugs were noticeable but not overwhelming. Walk to beach is a little long. I only made the trip once. Son made it twice. Nice area for 4x4 beach, if youve got one.. Overall very happy with stay. I will visit again if the opportunity presents itself.

The campground was very nice and clean. Had a great experience there only one problem had a lot of ticks on my site.

Campground was clean. Bathrooms clean. Showers only had cold water. Campsite was close to stores and restaurants but far enough off the main road to not hear any vehicles. Check-in was easy.There was no phone service and no parking maps - make sure to have your reservation/map already saved on your phone or printed.

Tent site is down a mild slope but man, is it private! Theres a bit of a foot path that leads to the restroom if you dont feel like going up the slope. The surrounding trees offer a lot of privacy as well. I only gave 4stars cause the grill is in the most inconvenient place

Great camp spot with plenty of shade. Short walk to boardwalk and bathrooms. Cold showers were fine. We were here for memorial day weekend and there were ticks and spiders, so bring your bug spray. We had a great time and are already making plans to come back!!

I stayed at Frisco national campsite for about a month this time at multiple campsites. As normal, my stay here was great! I even looked forward to the cold showers. Can't beat the price.

Great place to stay! Super convenient with beach ORV access at the entrance almost as close as it gets, a gas station, convenience store and tackle shop all within about 2 minutes.Not to mention all the great local restaurants are not too far!

Frisco campground is a beautiful spot. I love that there are campsites with some privacy - a rare thing at the beach!

Absolutely beautiful park. Very peaceful with rabbits, deer, and fireflies. It would be amazing if someday there were hot showers and just a few more amenities, but ultimately we knew what we signed up for!

Nice quiet campground with well spaced out sites. Our site, #P10, was paved, level and more than long enough for our 33 motorhome. The beach was a moderate walk over a nice boardwalk and then over some sand dunes. The beach itself was wonderful. We did not use the restrooms or showers. We would definitely come back!

Even though the showers were cold, the beaches were beautiful, sun rises as magnificent as the sunset, and close to some wonderful restaurants and a gem of a grocery store...Connors. good separation between sites and a breeze that never quit. Loved it

Its a beautiful place, but there we just sooooo many ticks. Each time we came back to the campsite we were constantly picking them off of us and were each bit a couple times. We went May 3-4 and cut our stay early after one night, site B1.

Hated the generators on other rigs. Otherwise great.

This is a wonderful campground. There is elevation change that open up great dune and a few ocean views, there is good privacy at many sites. One of our favorite NP Campgrounds.

Come there every year around the beginning of May. Love to hear the ocean at night and to see the stars so clear and bright. Hatteras Island still holds great charm after 40 years!

Late April. Close to bathroom and shower. Came here last minute because Cape Point campground was infested with bugs that we couldn't enter our tent that we had set up in the day time. The cell reception (Verizon) was so bad that I couldn't even book my reservation at the campground. I had to leave the campground back to the main road to book my reservation. Slept in RTT so a good spot but for tent camping I'm not even sure where you would set up. There wasn't much room at all. The bugs were less here. No biting flies but lots and lots of moths at night.

Had a very good time. The Ranger Sue Sweeney was very helpful and friendly. This makes a big difference!

Stayed here for two nights in mid April, in an 18' trailer. Our site was small, and had a slope, but was clean, surrounded by vegetation, and relatively private. The five minute walk to the ocean is great. The cold showers aren't so great, especially since there's no place to hang clothes or put soap/shampoo, but I guess that's part of the experience (and with no dump station on-site, we didn't want to fill our small gray tank).Overall, would return.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
