Nice place very quiet not many people but far from the beach, then the beach is a row of trucks as far as the eye can see.thats not the fault of the campground obviously. I spent my days on Ocracoke.

Clean, well maintained campground in a beautiful location with lots of shade and quick access to the beach.

Hello! I absolutely love the campground. It's just as I remember over 20 years later. Clean, love that it has showers, regular toilets, etc. The only thing that was really upsetting is the fact that the beach is flooded with ORV vehicles now. I have nothing against them at all and think off roading on the beach is super fun, but for tent campers like us looking for something more private and rustic, it was super disappointing looking at a beach full of vehicles. Looked more like a parking lot when we just wanted to be surrounded by the natural beauty. If anything, it'd be nice if part of the beach was at least closed off to ORV, maybe just a section that spans the camping area for us who walk on foot to the beach. There was hardly even a space for us to put down a beach blanket and umbrella without being a foot away from someones car. Forget walking to find a place. Cars as far as you can see.

Very nice site with shade for the tent. the only issue was ants, but that was dealt with. showers were big and water plentiful.

One of my favorite campgrounds! Assume staffing shortages or layoffs of Federal Park employees may have had something to do with the conditions. Bathrooms were kept tidy but the showers on the E road were in pretty bad shape, cleanliness wise. Campground seemed relatively full. Had there been staff, onsite at least part of the time, there may not have been a site with 5 or more tents set up on it and multiple cars. Overall, will definitely come again but hope to see staffing shortages restored so that the grounds and facilities are cared for like they have been in the past.

The best part of this campground was the quiet and the stars at night. There are spurs in the sand, the sites are small and barely fit a 6 person tent, red ants were everywhere, and there was not a lot of shade anywhere. The proximity to the beach was very nice but the bathroom is stifling hot and did not smell pleasant, and the showers definitely would have been cleaner although they werent filthy either. Will not come back but if someone plans to really rough it then I think it would be a great site for the beach.

Great campground with excellent beach access. Location is good near Hatteras. Only complaint is lack of cell coverage. Have both T-Mobile and Verizon and had only SOS the entire time. We did find that you got signal on the beach (go figure). Overall, great camping experience!

Many nice campsites. Showers are 'cool' but nice enough.Suggestion would be for NPS to designate 'Tent only' or NO generator sections. Person across had a diesel generator running from 6:15 am until 10 pm, even if not there. We did mention to camp host and it got a bit better on how many hours they ran it.

Clean water, showers, and amazing sites right near the ocean. We come every year.

great location with many private sites, easy beach access via foot or vehicle.

Stayed in campsite D6, and we've been to Frisco Campground many times. This site offers a bit of privacy and the place to pitch the tent is sandy, though the sun hits it shortly after sunrise. This was fine for us but could be a downside for late sleepers. We have a strategy for this campground of choosing sites where the tent is up and exposed, for two reasons. First, if you choose a site where the tent pad is down in maritime forest, those spots are inviting for insects. Second, and most importantly, it is harder to catch a breeze through the tent at night. We've learned over time to choose a site where the tent is as elevated as possible. One year, we had a site where the tent was in a depression and the temps were in the low-80s overnight. It was like sleeping in a sauna.

The site was marked for me when I arrived. It was clean. The charcoal grill had been cleaned out as well. I noted that some overgrowth around my site had been trimmed back which was nice, allowing more room alongside my camper. Campground itself and communal areas were clean and fully functional and guests obeyed the rules. I had a great time.

Best place to camp on the OBX. Always a great time. Other than the cold Showers

Upon arrival to our site, we were clearing pine cones & sticks from our site to set up the tent. Looked down at our legs & we were covered in ticks - most with a white spot on them. Tried to find a ranger to see if we could change sites but couldn't find anyone. Left, went to another NPS campground & set up. Fortunately they were kind enough to give me a refund.

We love this campground! Bathrooms are kept clean, most campsites are tucked in with vegetation privacy.

I camped here a LOT as a kid, & now I'm taking my kids. I can't recommend this campground enough. Compared to others, there's space, privacy, shade, & beach access. This will always be my go-to when I visit the OBX. Also, site P018 is an EXCELLENT site with plenty of the above.

Loved my night at Frisco Campground! Very quiet with very clean restrooms and easy access to the beach at Site P008. The live oaks and vegetation make this site quite private.
@PatrickS396870 · Camped on Jun 3, 2025 at Campsite #F1
Campground is great as a whole, sites are spread out, nice bath houses/toilets & NPS staff is friendly. Lots of flora with little problem from mosquitos, however, ticks (lone star tick in particular) are absolutely a different story. My advice, If you visit is use repellant & If you have pets, use prevention and monitor daily. Time of year may have been a factor as this is the first time we have been to Frisco in late May-early June & have never had a problem in the past.

Camping at Frisco reminds me and my extended family that we humans are not in charge, nature is. To be in the wind, the sun and the rain by the ocean is invigorating and available for us who are not wealthy. Thank you National Parks.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
