Overall a good camping experience. We were disappointed with one representative that was rude and gave us 30 minutes to pack and leave without first asking questions. My daughter had tried to book/pay for the site but was unable do to lack of internet availability. I had tried to pay This man showed up at our site and stated I see you did not pay for last nights camping. After my daughter had told me she was unable to register/pay I tried to pay with cash and found that was not an option. We later had a pleasant encounter with a ranger who understood our dilemma and stated that it sounded like we had likely encountered a volunteer. Might I suggest more direct supervised training before encounters with the public.

What a great find! We were in site P066 and had a little view of the ocean. It was quiet and peaceful, and we will absolutely be back!

Beautiful campground with well-spaced sites that let you enjoy the environment. The facilities are well kept: clean bathrooms and showers, no trash around the grounds. Our site had a little sheltered spot in the woods for tents, which was perfect. My only quibble would be the lack of hot running water, which is fine in the summer but a little uncomfortable in cool weather.

October is definitely a good time to visit Frisco Campground and the Outer Banks but beware of the burrs in the grasses! Our site driveway was not very level but we were able to move over to the next level site because the campground was not busy. It is Definitely a plus to have flush toilets and running water but it would be helpful to have shelves and hooks near the sinks for personal washing. The beach access was walking distance close.

We thought The National Park CG at Frisco was very nice. The close proximity of the drivable beach to the CG is great. The bathrooms and shower house were well kept. I do feel that with the advent of power banks and solar power, gas generators should be more limited or restricted in these primitive campgrounds. Also in this CG there is a sign at the entrance that states "Registered Campers Only". Unfortunately locals use this CG as a walking path and the local HS even uses it to train for crocs country running. This disturbs the solitude of the CG and the sign at the entrance should be enforced. Campers are paying to use the CG and shouldn't be bothered by random people walking, running, or driving through. Just common sense.

Very scenic campground! Some sites have more privacy than others. It seems you can either have privacy + shade + bugs, or no privacy + wind + direct sun + less bugs. Camp hosts were very friendly. 5-10 minute walk to a beautiful beach. You can hear the waves crashing from the campground.We stayed in b012 which was about a 100 Ft walk down a sand path to a cleared site covered with trees. While beautiful, private, and magical, the bugs were unreal. Bring bug spray for you and your pets!Cold showers but at least they were clean. Bathroom facilities were good.Water had a weird taste to it; we ended up buying bottled water. Overall great experience and great location on hatteras.

This campground is very quiet - so quiet you can hear the waves in the farthest sites. Camp hosts were great and checked in if they saw us sitting outside. The mosquitos are no joke and were competing with the birds in size. :) Thermacells provided not protection and sprays provided limited protection so be prepared. Tavern on 12 was great for dinner. Frisco Woods Campground allowed us to load up water and dump when we left for $20.

A beautiful campground with friendly camp hosts. Most of the campsites are level with paved driveways. Solar showers would be nice. Lots is sand spurs. Ouch!

My 31 year old daughter and I camped for a week in the highest elevation under the oak trees. The shelter provided by the trees was perfect. We were close to the bathhouse which was very convenient. We created a memory that will last for a lifetime.

We stayed in site P67, which had fantastic views. The campground was very clean and well maintained, the beach is lovely, and there is a shop/gas station quite near the entrance where you can get all the essentials. Just remember to bring lots of bug spray!!

Great beaches. Mosquitoes were ferocious in late September

Great campground for us! Walking opportunities from campground (on trails and on the beach), decent sites with protection from sun & wind at many sites, clean restrooms, showers. Sunrises and sunsets from the beach access at the campground. I never saw anyone working at the entrance kiosk the entire 4 days we were there, but someone was working at the campground since the reservation tags were put on campsite posts.

Love Frisco campground have be camping there for forty years!
@RobertH1222975 · Camped on Sep 19, 2025 at Campsite #A3
The campsite at Frisco is the best on the Outer Banks. Each site is notched into the vegetation so you almost can't see your neighbor. This is not the typical "parking lot" campsite like some on the Island. For the price you cannot beat the views and nature!

We appreciate the private setting of each site along with it being very clean and well maintained.

Avoid crowded summer time which has many biting insects and noisy generators from neighboring campers. Nice campsites with running water rest-rooms which is a nice feature.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
