Frisco Campgrounds are well kept, maintained, and usually have very friendly camp hosts. Cell coverage is sketchy, it comes and goes. I visit Cape Hatteras for the surf fishing and use Frisco as my home base.. During this stay the weather was rather chilly and windy so I spend more time than usual at the campsite. I had the chance to meet and spend some time with the camp hosts who went out of their way to make my stay and the other campers stay enjoyable. A real shout out to them and thank you.

Cockroaches galore!! I like the privacy of this site, although evey single vehicle leaving the Campground, because of one way roads, has to drive by it so the road is quite busy. I have been staying at Frisco Campground for at least 10 years now and several times at this particular site. Unfortunately the last two times at this particular site I had to deal with an infestation of cockroaches. They were in the legs of the picnic table, I found them crawling on the steps of my camper, and when I picked up a propane cylinder I sat on the pavement overnight, about 10 scattered to the surroundings. Be advised!!!

I really enjoy staying at the Frisco campground. The campsites are always clean, the showers are nice and the bathrooms are very well serviced. I also impressed how campers here abid by the rules and pretty much leave no trace. It's like every one knows how beautiful this place is and keeps it that way. The views are really good the higher you go up into the dunes. I have a few favorites that have 180 view of the ocean and mostly all campsites have there own unique things going and no e of them are the same. The host/staff/volunteers are always so nice and helpful. I highly recommend this place if you plan on visiting Hatteras Island. And I dont think I've ever meet unhappy camper in my life but I'd there is such a thing. I say camp here and you will be Happy you did. Happy Trails and Safe Travels my friends. Peace

We like the Frisco campground area very much overall. However, there are two issues which are problem not only here but in many other parks. The first is dog barking ! Amazing how inconsiderate campers can be not controlling their dogs in a location where folks are looking for some peace and tranquility. The park needs to be more pro-active in clamping down on dog barking.

The second issue has to do withy the loop P road. Since virtually all vehicles must use this road to exit, there is alot of traffic at times. But the real problem is that a lot of people are driving too fast! The speed limit is 15mph and we had cars going by out site well over 30! Very annoying and dangerous ! It pains me to say this because I generally do not like the use of speed bumps, but I believe they should be placed at several points around the 'P' loop.

Hope this helps, Thanks

I continued to book at Frisco due to the more private nature of the campsites than those at other National Parks owned campgrounds on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, and was offered excellent customer service by Ranger Michael whip helped find unique and interesting sites that offered natural amenities that I was looking to explore (I grew up in WNC and had never seen a wax myrtle, a loblolly pine, or a live oakthose are all indigenous to ENC, and he guided me to sites that featured not only marvelous views, but also differing experiences of the local ecosystem, which I, as a native Mountain Region North Carolinian, am unfamiliar with).Unfortunately, I only had the opportunity to meet one other Ranger while staying in Frisco Campground (another WNC native whose first National Parks experience was at the SAME PARK AS MINE and she stated led to her pursuit of work with the Parks Service), Ranger Savannah. I verbalized my concerns and sadness about the unkempt, visibly uncared for state of this North Carolinian National Seashorewhere there are poorly maintained bath houses with water leaks, sinks that would not turn off once pushed to initiate flow for handwashing, drinking water that SMELLS METALLIC, holes in plexiglass of shower house roofs that have been left for long enough to allow damage to interior beam structures, and a harshly demeanored camp host (with a hurtful and political statement flag posted to her site marker).Ranger Savannah hit the nail on the head when she said it really does make a difference when people care about the park they work in. She verbalized leaving our home state at the seasons end for better opportunities, and I wish her luckbut later I would witness her texting while driving a National Parks vehicle, with the tires literally driving off of the roadI agree with Ranger Savannah. Our Park in WNC IS cared for by its staff. I am dissatisfied with what I have found passes for care in ENC

I received abhorrently poor customer service from the camp host, Sandy, whos domineering presence and terse disposition while checking to ensure I was going to be out of my site on time OVER AN HOUR EARLY TO CHECK-OUT, *while I was literally breaking down my setup* made me feel truly unwelcome. While walking my dog throughout the campground the night before checkout, I discovered her site that is the campgrounds designated camp host site. She has posted ON THE POST THAT SIGNIFIES HER AS THE NATIONAL PARKS HOST TO ANSWER QUESTIONS OF VISITORS TO THE PARK, a heinously loaded **political statement** flag that made me feel true FEAR due to traumas I have experienced in my life, and also is deeply hurtful to many of my diverse community of friends and fellow Americans. I VALUE, ADVOCATE FOR, UPHOLD, AND understand the *significance and importance* of the first constitutional amendment. I am GRATEFUL that I do not hold the same beliefs that many of my closest friends doit helps widen my understanding of humanity.HOWEVER, the camp host position is a VOLUNTEER role that receives *tax-payer funded* HOUSING opportunities. The presence of that flag on that post reflects the stance of the National Parks Service, and as a true LIFE LONG LOVER of the parks who GREW UP IN THE VERY COMMUNITY WHERE THE PARKS SERVICE BEGAN (due to the tragic devastation of deforestation) I am HEARTBROKEN that this passes for hospitality and care of what I believe is a TRULY SPECIAL PLACE.The potable water also smelled poorly hereI filtered with my backpacking filter to be safe. There was a leak on a shower house that has obviously been broken for a LONG timemoss and structural damage is visible. A true shame to experience. America deserves better. We pay for better with our taxes

Truly horrific customer service by the camp host, Sandy, who harassed me over an hour prior to checkout with a domineering and hostile affect. She sped around with her golf cart and poor attitude, and literally stated that “[she] hated people” after I made a joke about needing a break from being in the public (I am a critical care nurse that has served as an airway specialist in a major metropolitan area since before and throughout the COVID outbreak, and have chosen to return to my home state of NC to try to decompress and serve my home community and also decrease my anxiety that has rendered me potentially disabled due to PTSD).

Ranger Michael was the ONLY National Parks staff member who treated me with courtesy as I utilized the Frisco campground (sites are better suited for a life-long backpacker and tent camper like me than the other more RV oriented campgrounds offered via the National Parks service). He offered insight about the local vegetation and fauna (I am a native of Western North Carolina, and had never actually seen much of the flora on the east coast of my home state…I nearly minored in Biology at UNC Chapel Hill during undergrad, and have a lifelong interest in the plants of my home state).

The bathroom facilities were visibly neglected, with stains on all sinks and cobwebs around every corner. I have stayed at National Park campgrounds including those at Acadia, Sequoia, and my home park of Great Smokey Mountains…and these are CLEARLY poorly cared for.

I had to ask Ranger Michael if the water was truly potable, as it smelled and my dog refused to drink it. (I still used my backpacking filter for my drinking water).

I love the National Parks and have all my life, and I am devastated by the poor quality of hospitality and care being shown to MY STATE’s National Seashore (one of only two in the USA).

Who knew camping at the beach could be so peaceful and private? Easy access to the ocean from campground expertly designed without disturbing the stunning landscape. Having a shower, albeit cold, in a NPS campground is a real plus

Weve been to the Frisco campground several times and each time has been an awesome experience. The rangers are knowledgeable and friendly, the site was beautiful, and the bathrooms clean. We will be back!
