Cockroaches galore!! I like the privacy of this site, although evey single vehicle leaving the Campground, because of one way roads, has to drive by it so the road is quite busy. I have been staying at Frisco Campground for at least 10 years now and several times at this particular site. Unfortunately the last two times at this particular site I had to deal with an infestation of cockroaches. They were in the legs of the picnic table, I found them crawling on the steps of my camper, and when I picked up a propane cylinder I sat on the pavement overnight, about 10 scattered to the surroundings. Be advised!!!

I really enjoy staying at the Frisco campground. The campsites are always clean, the showers are nice and the bathrooms are very well serviced. I also impressed how campers here abid by the rules and pretty much leave no trace. It's like every one knows how beautiful this place is and keeps it that way. The views are really good the higher you go up into the dunes. I have a few favorites that have 180 view of the ocean and mostly all campsites have there own unique things going and no e of them are the same. The host/staff/volunteers are always so nice and helpful. I highly recommend this place if you plan on visiting Hatteras Island. And I dont think I've ever meet unhappy camper in my life but I'd there is such a thing. I say camp here and you will be Happy you did. Happy Trails and Safe Travels my friends. Peace

We like the Frisco campground area very much overall. However, there are two issues which are problem not only here but in many other parks. The first is dog barking ! Amazing how inconsiderate campers can be not controlling their dogs in a location where folks are looking for some peace and tranquility. The park needs to be more pro-active in clamping down on dog barking.

The second issue has to do withy the loop P road. Since virtually all vehicles must use this road to exit, there is alot of traffic at times. But the real problem is that a lot of people are driving too fast! The speed limit is 15mph and we had cars going by out site well over 30! Very annoying and dangerous ! It pains me to say this because I generally do not like the use of speed bumps, but I believe they should be placed at several points around the 'P' loop.

Hope this helps, Thanks

Truly horrific customer service by the camp host, Sandy, who harassed me over an hour prior to checkout with a domineering and hostile affect. She sped around with her golf cart and poor attitude, and literally stated that “[she] hated people” after I made a joke about needing a break from being in the public (I am a critical care nurse that has served as an airway specialist in a major metropolitan area since before and throughout the COVID outbreak, and have chosen to return to my home state of NC to try to decompress and serve my home community and also decrease my anxiety that has rendered me potentially disabled due to PTSD).

Ranger Michael was the ONLY National Parks staff member who treated me with courtesy as I utilized the Frisco campground (sites are better suited for a life-long backpacker and tent camper like me than the other more RV oriented campgrounds offered via the National Parks service). He offered insight about the local vegetation and fauna (I am a native of Western North Carolina, and had never actually seen much of the flora on the east coast of my home state…I nearly minored in Biology at UNC Chapel Hill during undergrad, and have a lifelong interest in the plants of my home state).

The bathroom facilities were visibly neglected, with stains on all sinks and cobwebs around every corner. I have stayed at National Park campgrounds including those at Acadia, Sequoia, and my home park of Great Smokey Mountains…and these are CLEARLY poorly cared for.

I had to ask Ranger Michael if the water was truly potable, as it smelled and my dog refused to drink it. (I still used my backpacking filter for my drinking water).

I love the National Parks and have all my life, and I am devastated by the poor quality of hospitality and care being shown to MY STATE’s National Seashore (one of only two in the USA).

Who knew camping at the beach could be so peaceful and private? Easy access to the ocean from campground expertly designed without disturbing the stunning landscape. Having a shower, albeit cold, in a NPS campground is a real plus
