Beautiful campground - set in the dunes on the outer banks. The surrounding area is quaint and supplies are plentiful. The bathroom clean and the sites small but cozy. There was a lot of shade for an ocean side camground and a lot of privacy. Would stay there again!

I really like this campground bc it has all the essentials without over doing it. Its a campground and not an over commercialized theme park geared towards corporate profit. Thankfully there are still a few left. Please continue to maintain it without ruining its timeless character!

Frisco is one of the best of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore campgrounds. Although it's a bit of a walk to the beach (Ocracoke is closer), the size of the campground and number of spaces - many nicely shaded by coastal maritime woods - enhance the outdoor experience. Easy biking to Frisco Beach, Sandy Bay on the sound, and Hatteras Village. Bugs are inevitable but less so in the shoulder seasons...bring a screen tent or picnic shelter. A Sun Shower is a good idea too. Suggest bringing a Britta pitcher or other water filtering container, as the tap water sometimes has an off-putting color/smell/taste.

Thanks to Sandy and Amy the camp hosts and all the staff for making my stay a very relaxing experience. The grounds are always well maintained. the Frisco campgrounds is a beautiful place.

We absolutely love the natural setting & distance between sites in the dunes at Frisco, NPS. The boardwalks or ramp access (4x4 ORV ONLY) allow easy beach access. The ocean here is typically warmer but Be Aware of strong currents. Close proximity to the Gulf Stream = surf fishing. Bathrooms are clean, showers are not hot water but refreshing after being out in the sun all day. A store across from the entrance road is convenient for groceries/gas/post office/outfitter supplies. The Frisco airport is adjacent to fly in on a private plane but its very quiet in the campground as the airport is not heavily used anytime weve been. Just a few miles away are the villages of Buxton & Hatteras (Ocracoke ferry landing) with more supplies/restaurants & OBX charm. *It is important to note that parking for RV units at most businesses on the island require unhooking your TV first! Newly repaved parking pads for all sites in the campground are not all level & some are severely sloped... fine for tent sites, not MH or TT. Weve made it a point to mark up our site map for particularly preferred future sites. Some sites are well shaded tent sites, some open for screen houses. P loop is important for MH or TT air ventilation ...no generators 10p-6a. Use the satellite map image to guide your reservation choices. Evening breezes are lovely. Long sand stakes for ALL tents are a Must! BTDT. The staff are Exceptionally helpful & kind!

Showed up and the guard at the entrance was very pleasant. It was evening and the passing storm made way for a beautiful sunset and rainbow. Headed back next week!
