Peaceful, quiet, clean bathrooms, fantastic moon shining on the midnight surf.

This is my favorite of the Park's campground. The Rangers and volunteers are always helpful and the sites weel tended and clean. One quibble: the recycling container at the exit was not operable, or at least I could not unlatch it though I pushed very hard.

Really great campground with interesting sites, nice amenities, and easy access to the beach. Bring bug spray though, the mosquitoes are thick.

Beautiful Beach, “UFO” to visit for fun photos. Pop”s restaurant is the place to enjoy good food and just relax, The campsite my husband and I reserved was quiet and secluded. My only wish is to be able to have a campfire on site. We have made a fire on the beach before which is nice, but my preference is a campsite fire!. Get out and enjoy the great outdoors at Billy Mitchell’s Campground!

Beautiful Beach, UFO to visit for fun photos. Pops restaurant is the place to enjoy good food and just relax, The campsite my husband and I reserved was quiet and secluded. My only wish is to be able to have a campfire on site. We have made a fire on the beach before which is nice, but my preference is a campsite fire!. We loved our trip to Frisco campground! We visited mid-September, and stayed Tuesday-Tuesday. We are a family of 6. We really enjoyed the quiet, family atmosphere. It did get busier over the weekend, but then emptied out again on Sunday afternoon. Our spot was F7. We had room for two tents and a canopy. We could not see any other tents or campers from our site, as it was nestled up a little path away from the parking spot.Bathrooms were clean. Be aware of cute little green sticky tree frogs everywhere! Haha! In the showers, my husband would do a quick check for our girls before they showered. Showers are not heated, so that was a little rough. But thankfully the temperature was still hot every day so it wasnt too bad. It was a little too far to walk to the beach. We did a few times, just to walk on the boardwalk. But it wouldve been really difficult to take enough gear to stay at the beach all day while walking. Bikes wouldve been great here, as it was a bit of a walk to the bathrooms and showers. It wasnt really an issue, but bikes just wouldve been nice. Make sure to purchase an ORV permit to drive on the beach! That MADE the trip so nice! We brought a 10x10 canopy, and just kept our cooler and chairs in our SUV. That really enabled us to enjoy the beach every day. We took the ferry to Ocracoke on a Friday. We had to wait less than an hour for the ferry, then the trip over was about an hour. The ORV permit is valid there as well. We had a very short wait for the ferry back to Hatteras. At this time, many restaurants and stores were understaffed and had unpredictable hours, so that was disappointing. But overall it was no big deal. There is a market on the main road near the campground where you can get ice, firewood, and some food items. But there is also a Dollar General is you drive out about 10-15 minutes. That really saved us some money on snacks, drinks and ice!We definitely want to return! Great trip!

Convenient park right on the ocean. Easy walk to see the sunrise and a beautiful view of the lighthouse. Well maintained boardwalk and bathhouses.
