We had a nice stay at the campground. The staff was good at communicating changes regarding our registration and eventual cancellation. It was unclear which bathroom buildings were open and that the shower buildings were permanently closed.

We love staying at Oregon Inlet and have been coming for many years. On the whole our experience was great and the restrooms were always spotless. However, on the road in front of our campsite #B23, there were two huge potholes. We stayed for ten days and didnt see anyone long enough to be able to tell them about it. They could have been filled temporarily with gravel and anyone like a host or ranger would have seen them. I realize that there are financial issues within the park service but feel that this is quite a serious issue and a friend of ours slipped down into the pothole while walking at night.

The campground is tight. There are campers in the RV section with very little space between them. One person ran their generator on a timer from 6 AM to 10 PM, even though they were not there for 2 of the 3 days we stayed. Sandspurs and cacti abound, and if you don't know the site well, you will likely end up with nearly no space for kids to play as there is little grass. The facilities were okay, not disgusting, but not clean. The camp hosts showed "not on duty" the entire time we stayed, so no help there. The beach is nearby, so I suppose that's something, but if you are looking for some quiet and space to enjoy yourself, look else where.

Oregon Inlet was fabulous! Uncrowded, clean, and right across the dune from the ocean.

Mike's better half says: We spent 12 of 14 days here, the first 2 days having been cancelled d/t closure because of hurricane Idalia. The location is excellent. We made excursions 8 of 12 days, both north and south. We bought a 10-day beach pass and used that for the other 4 days of our stay. That part of the trip was great, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Some things we did were shopping, dining out, climbed Bodie lighthouse, watched a reenactment of the lifesaving station, Wright bros museum, climbed Jockey's Ridge to see the kites. Overall, the campground itself was nice, clean with friendly rangers and hosts visible daily, a ranger station and a bathroom/shower for each of the 3 loops. Some of the campsites are beautiful, with large flat, grass covered lawns. Others, such as #23B are not. This site is carved into a sand dune on 3 sides. The only level part is the paved area where you park the trailer. Stepping out of the trailer puts you in a sloping pit of sand which is covered with weeds and sandburs. Sandburs are small and extremely painful to touch, let alone step on. It was so bad that within the first 5 minutes of arriving, our 2 mini schnauzers each had at least a half dozen burs stuck to their feet and face, they were NOT happy. Although we had brought lawn chairs and a screened tent, we did not use them because the only place we could have used them was next to the road, and even then, there were sandburs growing in the little patch of grass that was available to us. While I fully recommend staying at this campground, I do not recommend this site to anyone, particularly if you have pets or children. If you have pets, invariably they will encounter some sandburs because the wind blows them around from the dunes. We finally limited our walks to C loop where the sites were covered with nice grass and fewer chances of getting burs. Lastly, bring bug spray, the mosquitos are ferocious at dusk.

Although sites are close to one another the campground has an amazing beach.

Had a great time, the folks at the front desk are wonderful. Bathrooms are very nice, showers are a little bit too open to the general public. Easy walk to the beach as there are multiple paths from the campground. I would definitely stay there again.

Wife and I had a wonderful time, the staff were very friendly and helpful in making sure we got everything we needed and helped us to switch campsites when we realized we were not in a spot with electric. Be sure to bring a tent designed to withstand high winds!!!!

CG was only about 25% full in early March. B23 was level, no blocks needed for my small Class C. I didn't use the bathhouse. Dump station across the road was clean and easy to access, take the first left after turning into the side road. There is a small dump station sign pointing that way. There were hiking trails to the beach right from the campground.

The campground is good, the burrs are not. The rangers or hosts drive across the grass constantly with their golf carts that of course pick up the burrs and redeposit them only making the problem worse. Also at most of the NPS campgrounds it's a no-no to park on the grass, but here at Oregon inlet they don't pay any attention, extra cars parked on the grass, dollies parked on the grass and again the volunteers or rangers driving golf carts all over the grass which all helps to redeposit burrs all over the place. Close to the beach and that is nice.

Very nice campground. Bathrooms were okay, Showers could use some light, as there was none, so if you wanted to shower in the evening, you had to do it in the dark. A little tough getting to the beach, but it was enjoyable. This was a great launching point to get to Kitty Hawk and to Fort Raleigh. Not a far drive to restaurants either.

Overall good camping experience, but needs more bath houses. The Host could be more visable to check on guests. We stayed for over a week and never saw the host once. The location is excellent of course with easy access to the beach and the beach access road. Be aware that a $50 pass is required now to drive your 4x4 onto the beach.

Camp site very nice. Very close to the ocean and the sound. Trucks can ride beach with a permit equipment needed shovel, electric pump and rope. Very nice beach. Sound is a great place to kayak.

This is a nice campground in a very interesting area. In the last couple years, electric and water have been added to some of the sites, which makes it much nicer. We have been camping here for about 5 years and will be going back.
