Disappointed with showers. Outdoor ones were closed down and there were no indoor showers.

We had an excellent week of cool weather camping at Oregon Inlet the 2nd week of November. The on-line reservation process and check-in upon arrival went without a hitch. We had Electric and Water at our site, so we were very comfortable in the 5th wheel camper. (We did use the heat a couple of the nights.) We had one afternoon warm enough to sit on the beach. I really enjoyed hiking over the tall dunes to get to the beach; good exercise and a very pretty walk. (You do need to wear some kind of shoes though; there are quite a few sand burrs that are tough on the feet if you step on one.) We enjoyed several day trips while camping at Oregon Inlet. One morning we went to the fishing pier on the opposite side of the bridge. (A section of the previous Bonner Bridge repurposed as a fishing pier.) We also hiked around the Bodie Island Lighthouse, including walking trails at the back of the grounds. We spent half a day driving south further down the outer banks, with stops at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton, currently being refurbished, and then down to Frisco. We spent one afternoon hiking at Jockeys Ridge State park, both on the dunes the some trails back by the sound. The visitors center was also quite nice. We spent a day driving to the Alligator River Nature Preserve on the other side of Roanoke Island, and hiking a few of the trails over there. We actually saw a bear, but at quite a distance. My wife and I both vacationed on the Outer Banks as kids (camping), and again several times with our own kids (in nice vacation rental homes). It was very nice to get back there as a retired couple, camping at the same park we first camped at on Cape Hatteras when we were kids ourselves. If you don't need a plush private campground to enjoy camping, Oregon Inlet National Park Campground may be a good choice to check out.

I would make sure to check what bath houses are open when you are there in the off season and then plan accordingly.

Fabulous HOSTS! Helpful in so many ways. The bldgings need attention, bathhouses need roofs.

Third time camping here but I wasn't as pleased with this site (C-25) as with others past. The usable space at the site for our canopies, chairs, tents, etc. was considerably less than most of the other sites with electric and water hookups due to "dune" vegetation being allowed to encroach. Then the grass at the site was way overdue for mowing; some grass stalks were knee-high. This seemed to be the case to varying degrees at other sites too, but ours was among the worst. Positives are the same as with previous visits: Great value (especially with senior pricing), clean restrooms and showers, proximity to the beach. We will definitely return but not to this site.

We love Oregon Inlet Campground. However, be prepared for all the sites being in full sun all day. There are no trees at all in the campground and the sites are pretty close together so there is no privacy between the sites like many other National campgrounds. The cell service and over the air TV works well for those rainy days and the internet also works well. Ramp 4 is right beside the campground so if you get your beach permit to drive on the beach it is less than 1/4 of a mile from the campground. Happy camping

We were in site C25. It was long enough to accommodate our 37 5th wheel and our truck parked across. Power and water pedestal was in great shape. Easy walk to the beach, but we could also hear the waves from our campsite. Convenient to Nags Head for food and supplies.

We stayed in both elec/water and non-utility RV sites. All were convenient to bath and restroom facilities. Trash was easily disposed of on the way out of the campground. We did not use the dump site across the highway. Sites are spacious and level. The campground had multiple accesses to the beach on foot through the dunes and a vehicle access ramp to the beach. There are no buildings near the park beach so you get a sense of the natural setting between dunes and the beach, except of course for the vehicles on the beach which weren't many in early April. But the campground is great and pet friendly (watch out for the prickly pear cactus for pets and humans). This campground has easy access to the rest of the Outer Banks both north and south including Roanoke Island and the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge to the north. An easy drive up to Corolla to see wild horses or Cape Hatteras to the south where you can ride horses on the beach. Restaurants, groceries, and fuel are not far in either direction. The Wright Memorial and this campground are two of the best parts of the National Park system. Enjoy!

This is such a jewel if you like nature and the ocean. The staff and hosts were so sweet and pleasant. It does not have any bells or whistles, there is no shade or protection from the natural elements, Showers and Bathrooms are available along with water and electric hookups. If you love the ocean and youre looking to unplug and relax, I highly recommend the Oregon Inlet Campground. Bonus we got to explore the shipwreck that ran aground during our visit. A place of tranquility (well at least while we were there).

This is a beautiful campground. I went a few days before Christmas and there were very few people. My RV site is C25 and is within walking distance to the beach. Actually all sites are within walking distance. It's only about 0.5 mile to the beach and the beach is like a private beach on those days. It was cold but the sun came out and we walked on the private beach, very relax and enjoyable stay. The washroom was also very clean. I will highly recommend this site.
