As always, a fantastic time staying at the Oregon Inlet Campground. The facilities are top notch and clean, the customer service folks are friendly and helpful, and the setting is without compare. We've been coming here for over a decade, and will continue to in the future!

The facilities are not meant for showering just basic bathroom, cold water. The spike ball grass burrs are a massive annoyance they're everywhere and stick to everything including you and your pet, your camping equipment, towels, etc and they hurt. So be aware that this is not for glamping. The weather was brutally hot & humid and thunderstorms dumped bucketloads for hours. Not the best outing for sure, glad to be back in New England. This OBX location probably best visited if you have A/C and hot water in an RV. Its located just before the Oregon Inlet bridge however and access to Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo not far and shopping, food, supplies in Nags Head close by. I lived in NC for 8 yrs so I knew the spot well just never camped there before.

I did basic tent camping in October. Check in and out is awesome. You literally just go to your site and then leave when your time is up. Bathroom is clean and basic. Trails to the beach are easy to follow. They clean the charcoal grille for you and have dumpsters for the rest of your trash. Be prepared for wind, weather changes and sand spurs. Its just apart of the Outer Banks and you need to understand this. Just about everything is hard to do when the wind is blowing & it almost always is. Sand spurs are basically spiky balls that are all over the ground. You and your animals will hate them so dont try to walk around barefoot or sit directly on the ground. They attach to just about anything that touches em and hurt like hell when the stick in you. It was bug free while I was there. To be clear, there are no camp sites on the actual beach. You will not see the ocean from anywhere on the campsite. You will have to either walk the trails to get to the ocean or drive your 4x4 to it. Also you cannot have a fire at your site. Not being able to have a fire while camping sucks but the conditions just cant safely allow for it. You can however have a fire at the beach, weather permitting. Beach fires can be a very magical experience and the stars on a clear night are amazing out there.

Your website said there were hot showers and this is why we made the reservation as we were tent camping. The showers were outside with I guess solar heating which was tepid at the most. Maybe in the summer the water would be fine but not in fall. The site was full of sand spurs. The photo on the website showed our site would be next to the showers which it wasn't. So we weren't impressed. We gave up our site after the first night.

Site are quite close together and next to road which has traffic through the night. Staff was very kind and helpful. Reaching out to us numerous times to coordinate a late check in, which we very much appreciated.

Was a great location. Convenient to local beaches and attractions. Campsite attendants were very helpful and friendly. Bathrooms were clean. Will be returning again.
