Interesting squirrel (and hawk) activity. The swimming area at the river was refreshing. The toilets could use more water pressure, as they tend to clog.

I understand that when one goes camping, the desire is to be one with nature; it is what I seek too. However, when you book a campsite, you expect basic things.I know there is not much that can be done in cases like this but there was a huge yellow jacket problem here. We ended up leaving early because it was so unpleasant to do any cooking/eating while being swarmed. We also had an ant infestation in the bear box making it impossible to actually store any food in there. This was a first for me. The site itself was alright but the ground was not penetrable by stakes. We were also unable to find anybody until our second day when, as we were packing up, someone came by to check us in. Location wise, this is very far south and you can expect a lot of driving to get anywhere. Definitely, not a good spot if you plan on also visiting Kings Canyon.

Great campsites located within the national park; it really saves you the drive everyday. Do lookout for indication of whether the campsite can accommodate rooftop tent camping or not.

Pretty noisy campground with little vegetation/barrier/distance between sites. Fine if youre looking to stay up and hang out with friends but not so great if youre seeking quiet for sleeping before midnight. Also the bathrooms have very bright aging neon lights on the outside without shades, so my site was still very light at night.

Lower elevation campground. Lots of grass grows that either needs to be moved or trampled on. There seemed to be no host during our stay. The bathrooms were in good shape with running water. You were able to access the river across the road, but not easily from the campground. It gets hot here, but overall it was nice.

Site 37. This site has great access to the water hole through Camp 14. Very little shade but big site. You can also walk past the high way to another water hole. Quick access to bathrooms. Over all great site. Unfortunately could not hang hammock, only one tree for support.

This campground is great for a RV that cant make it up the mountain (ours). Its about ~45mins up an extremely winding road to get to Sequoia NP main attractions. But its closer to town if you need supplies. The campsites are great for tents. Lots of squirrels, gophers, birds, & deer plus each site has a large bear box it store food. There are flush toilets, a dishwashing sink & potable water, no showers. Be sure to bring & use mosquito repellent. Lots of trees offer wonderful shade & tree-climbing for the kiddos. Not very flat so biking or scootering is limited. We enjoyed dry-camping in our 20ft travel trailer but the two sites (#17 & 18) we stayed in were extremely sloped so leveling was a challenge. It was warm during our stay so we either went up the mountain or to the lake during the day. Rangers were friendly & made sure the campsite were tidy.

The campground facilities are poor. Old cramped washrooms, relatively few truly flat spots in each site to pitch a tent. The campground does not appear to get much care considering it is in a very popular national park. Washrooms are cramped and old. One of the toilets nearest our site was plugged and inoperable for most of a day which is a problem when the campground is full. Overall it has the feel of an overflow campground for use only when others in the park are unavailable

The relatively small campground is great and the best part was being so close to the Potwisha day use area where you can enjoy in the river! Our site itself maybe wasnt the best due to so many holes and not that level but also not the worst in terms of accessibility. We were right next to the bathroom but that was not an issue. There were lots of marmots and two moles we got to watch in the morning and as animal lovers, this was a delight :)

TINY sites and not level at all. The angle of the spot is really hard to park in. No privacy at all, but fine for a 1 night stop over.

Our campsite (#7) was terribly small, barely enough room to fit our 3-person backpacking tent between the fire ring and the picnic table. There was no shade, and the mosquitoes were awful. Some of the other sites were much larger, but if I had arrived with a family of 4 and a large tent this simply wouldnt have worked. The bathroom was fine, and there was a sink outside it for washing dishes. We never saw the camp host and shortened our reservation after we found openings at other much better campgrounds in the parks.

awesome campsite

The campground itself has everything you would need. Just keep in mind this campground is at a lower elevation than others, so it is HOT in the summer. It was nice to be close to town with food / brewery though.

GOod site. As others said it is pretty hot here so try and find a spot with shade. The spots on the right are up against a hill so even ground is tough. The best sites are 18 and 20 right along the river. There are some generators going though from a couple of RVs. Overall good with clean and plentiful bathrooms.
@RobertM1452522 · Camped on Jun 1, 2025 at Campsite #40
Great access to then park, but very little shade. Be prepared for HOT tents. Also was disappointed in the upkeep of the grassy areas.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
