Wish the bear box was not in direct sunshine

This is a great, little campground at the base of Sequoia National Park. It's right on the Kaweah River. The sounds of the river at night will lull you right to sleep. There's a great, but strenuous hike to Marble Falls within the campground. It's a 3.7 mile hike in. We only went about 1.5 miles into it, which was just about right for an hour-long hike. There's a short, 510-minute hike, to the swinging bridge over the Kaweah River directly across from the campground. It's a neat spot to grab an iconic photo. The visitor center was about 10 minutes away and the drive to the Giant Forest was about 45 minutes. It's a challenging drive, especially for the faint of heart or if you have a large vehicle. But it's SO worth it to see the General Sherman tree, the largest tree in the world, and all the other giant sequoias. Take the Big Trees Trail hike. We went in mid-February. It was absolutely spectacular. The weather was perfect for the hiking and sightseeing.

Best camp spot. Spot 16!! Low traffic and serene

This was such a cool spot we were right next to the river with an easy path down; if it hadnt been so cold, we would have cracked our windows at night to sleep to listen to the sound of the water. It was a bit challenging to get our small (24 ft) RV level, but manageable. It is worth noting that, if youre coming with a large camper, even getting to Potwisha on those narrow, winding roads may be challenging. We were there with friends who had a sportier van so we were able to get up to the museum and catch the shuttle there, but I would not have driven our camper up those switchbacks we saw a few people doing it and it seemed quite dangerous.Sequoia as a whole was amazing although it was busy, we only needed to hike out a short distance to totally lose the crowds. Absolutely recommend.

It's a beautiful campground with plenty of space. Some sites are larger than others, though. We loved spending a couple of nights there. Plus, the restrooms are very clean!

We visited October 2024 and had site 16. One of the most beautiful campgrounds we visited. No or extreme weak cellphone service.

The place was good, but when we arrived at our reserved spot there was other people in our spot, so we paid for nothing. But overall good campgrounds!!

We were on site 16 a backend site which was fine for our teardrop trailer. The bathrooms were ok but you have to climb up a hill and then move over or around big rocks to get to the stairs for the bathroom. We were there four nights and never saw a campground host or an attendant in the booth entering or leaving the campground. When we got to our site the first day our name wasn't on the site number. There's not much to do at this campground except wade or swim in the river when it's not too swift or high. The grass at our site was waist high so we weren't able to use all of our site.

Great campground to visit in January when the park is quiet. Low elevation meant warmer nights while we went higher to explore the giant sequoia groves.

Good campground with clean restrooms. Spacious flat spots to pitch tents. Sounds of flowing river water throughout so you'll appreciate it if you like the white noise.

great location just inside park entrance. river runs along edge of campground. flat spots for tents and plenty of shade. picnic table, campfire ring and bear lockers come with each campsite. good hiking trail to Marble Falls begins by site#14. great waterfall with views of valley below. phone service with AT&T is spotty (1bar); TMobile nothing.

Excellent spot. closure at Hospital Rock into the Sequoias due to the damage to road in winter storms, but Marble Falls Trail was worth the views and you can just drive couple hours to Grant grove and see the Sequoias. Coming back in Summer to see General Sherman tree and do other mandatory hikes.

Campground was very nice and clean. We had a great stay except the road was closed to see the Giant Sequoias.
