I had an amazing experience staying at this camp ground for a long weekend. The check-in / check out process is very seamless and all the folks at the gate were extremely friendly. We stayed at the Non-Electric tent spot which was had a nice tree shade. The campground was very peaceful, clean and well maintained. The tent site was also very clean. While booking the site, we were unaware of the presence of showers on site so we carried our portable showers. Later found out, this campground has possibly one of the cleanest restrooms and showers. The hot water showers were such a relief on a muggy day. I would highly recommend this campground. I am definitely a repeat visitor.

I only stayed one night here but I loved it! The gate attendants were so nice and helpful. The site I had was very nice and well maintained. Somewhat close to surrounding sites but it still felt private. Bathrooms were nice (I did not use the showers but they were individual rooms). Only negative was my site was pretty narrow. I had a non-electric pull through and the best spot to level it got me pretty close to the picnic table (the base is made of concrete so no moving it) and I could not set out my main awning. Ended up putting my sitting area on the back side of the trailer. Again very minor, if really at all, negative but there are some limitations on site setup. Since I was there only 1 night I didnt do much exploring but Looking Glass Falls in the National Forest was about a 40 minute drive and definitely worth it!

We had a nice, large, flat site that was close to the bathroom; however, several other sites had to walk directly through/against our site to reach the bathroom. That is a weird set-up that I've never seen at any other campground and it is not mentioned on the website. The bathhouse was kept very clean but having extremely loud air dryers with campsites so close was sometimes annoying. With so many campsites in one loop, and only a few seeming to be RV only, having only 2 showers and 2 toilets is crazy. When it rained there was absolutely NO drainage on our site. Also, our site was one of only few on the whole loop that didn't include a bear box--which would be nice to have as the bears were out nearly every day we were there. The beach area was also disappointing. The "swimming" area (which wasn't actually deep enough to swim in) was very small. Hiking trails are abundant but also very crowded. Overall it's a beautiful park and location, and the staff was very nice. The weather just wasn't very cooperative while we were there.

Great campground, simple in the best way. It has your hook ups and walking trails but not all the extra fluff that takes away from, what I consider, camping. Theres the lake you can swim or fish!

Sites were very private and nice. Fire ring not in great location. Toilet needed a little maintenance so we fixed the flush valve best we could at time to flush the toilet. Workers were all very nice.

Even in the rain the campgrounds were great! Nice clean showers and restrooms. Well maintained trails and great location.

Very nice campsites. They are not overly huge but for the most part, comfortable size but what was so nice (at least in our loop) was that each one has trees/bushes on the sides so it makes it a little more private. It is not like your next door neighbor can look over into your site or camper. Noticed a couple 'double sites' which are nice if camping with relatives. We sometimes camp with our son and his family. Overall very quiet. The campground is very nice and we plan on returning at some time. Would be nice if there were no exterior lights at the bathhouse and/or had sensors on the inside lights. Some campsites (especially sites on the inside of the loop) are right in view of the bathrooms and have light shining all night long. Some parks have sensors for the inside llights that turn on when there is movement. (There are large side windows that shine on the campsite and stay on when a person does not turn them off before leaving the bathroom). Possibly a duller bulb for outside would help with the outside lights. With nice weather I like having windows and shades open all night but this allows the light to shine in the camper and makes it harder to sleep. It also prevents us from stargazing as you can't see the stars as well. We sometimes bring our telescope but luckily we didn't this time.Don't know how much usage it gets but a little work on the beach area would be nice. Wasn't super appealing but since we had rain and cooler weather we didn't use it; just walked down there to take a peek. Could only see about 4 feet from shore and then the water got very dark. Does it get that deep only 4 feet from shore? The beach area was a mix of sand and grass popping up. Very close to some breweries in Asheville such as Bold Rock (our favorite). About 20 minutes to downtown Asheville.We had major issues with cell coverage. Nothing on the first few days. No wifi coverage in the park. We did get a little cell coverage on the last day.

The campground has different loops. We stayed in campground . This was a full hookup so I was great for our week stay as we didnt have to move to dump our tanks. There is a bathhouse in each loop and we took numerous showers there. The set up is there are two shower rooms and the another two sink and toilet rooms. So you can take a shower in privacy and not have to worry about someone else coming in. Very clean and spacious. The lake is nice but the beach area is very rocky. They need to add sand to make it more usable. Lots and lots of trailers for hiking and bike riding. Many locals are there using the trails. The WiFi with ATT was one to two bars, enough to be able to stream with a booster. To many trees for not been able to use the Starlink connection

This is for site 53 only. We stay at Lake Powhatten 6-8 times a year. It's a tough backin for larger rigs. We have a 40ft. 5th wheel and it was slightly challenging. I am an experienced with backing into to tough areas. Not a skill issue. The site was quite overgrown which limited the usable space. As always there is no data and very limited cell service. Otherwise same as usual. Great trails. great place.

The onsite staff were awesome. So sweet. The sites and bathrooms were clean. The beach was beautiful. The trail map is not very detailed so i suggest looking it up on alltrails before you come. Make sure to download there is no cell signal at the sites. But you can find one at the beach.

While we enjoyed the park and the hosts ... it was very nice that it was FHU and one reason why we chose it.The main path for the loop is TOO narrow to back in one's camper w/o getting off the road. The main sign to the park is in the shadows of the trees and can't be seen till right upon the sign ... and the signs back out on the main drag could use better turn arrows for first timers.

Tent pads are always full of rocks and uncomfortable so I highly recommend some sort of sleeping pad if youre going to camp here. The surrounding hiking trails and sights are definitely worth the trip.

First let me say that we love this campground and stay here 2-3 times a year. Its hard to get a site on the full hookup Lakeside Loop though so be prepared to book early with the six month rolling reservation window in mind. I dont remember the exact number of sites on that loop. Low 20s? But two are host sites, one is tent only, one is a double site, and one is held back for fire service, etc. Limited supply equals high demand. The vast majority of sites are very private and youll often feel like youre the only person there. On most sites, the sewer hookup is at the back. And on some its uphill, making it impossible to use (water doesnt flow uphill). A sidewinder doesnt help because its only 9 inches or so high. So be prepared to use the dump station. If you dont require hookups, there are some beautiful sites on the other loops. Big John in particular has some great sites! The bathhouses are very nice and spaced to be convenient to most sites. The road into the campground has some tight, blind curves that might be a bit of a challenge for big rigs. Take it easy and youll be fine. The location could not be better for enjoying all that Asheville has to offer and it literally adjoins the NC Arboretum property. And theres a Blue Ridge Parkway entrance right next to the Arboretum entrance too! Keep in mind that only a portion is open at this time due to storm damage. Going north, its closed just past the Folk Art Center. Going south, its closed just a few miles (5-10?) past the entrance near the campground. Enjoy!

Its a pretty campground, but we had issues. The staff in sites near ours sped around the campground despite signs saying to go slow. We had kids riding bikes and it was dangerous with fast moving vehicles. We also had difficulty with the bathrooms. They were constantly without toilet paper and the doors kept locking requiring us to ask for assistance. Once they were unlocked, we were told we were the ones locking them in purpose. It was ridiculous.

We loved it. The only recommendation would be bathroom shower cleanliness. Although there seemed to be a lot of people there! The gentleman at the gatehouse was awesome!

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
