It was a great place to explore either hiking or biking.

Nice quiet campground. Plenty of space between sites and the bathhouse was clean. Well definitely be back.

This was an amazing campground, and we enjoyed our 3 nights there very much! As others have mentioned our sites sewer connection was uphill from our camper which was a bit problematic, but we managed it by walking the hose to drain it. The downside were the showers, which worked very well if you were the wall, otherwise not so much. It was pretty much impossible to actually shower. Maybe they don't stay on top of this because it is mostly RV's in this loop, but we don't have a shower in ours. All in all we enjoyed our stay.
Another thing of note is the people working the gate can't really answer any questions about the area so plan to get information somewhere else.

My new go-to park when visiting Asheville
I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel, long bed pickup and parked in site #38 Lakeside Loop, a FHU, BI site for $28/night with the America the Beautiful Senior pass (50% off the site fee but utilities were charged separately.) The roads and sites were asphalt and navigating was okay. The road was a little narrow so going around curves was a bit tight. This site was just off a curve in the road which made it harder to get into plus being an uphill push. It took me 2-3 tries to get the approach right. It was a lovely site once in there. It was plenty long for the rig and truck as well as being spacious. Nice trees for shade and there wasn’t another site really close by. It was a quiet campground even though it was spring break. There are lots of trails nearby for both hiking and biking. I didn’t have much connectivity at the site – texts would come in randomly and sometimes emails would show up but I couldn’t open them. There was a handful of OTA channels and no wifi. The bathhouse was clean with individual shower rooms and toilets (2 each.) The staff and rangers were very helpful when I had an issue with my front jacks. There is a great grocery store 10-15 minutes away and an outlet mall nearby. This will be my go-to park to stay at when visiting Asheville. I would probably choose site 36 or 37 on the Lakeside Loop or 21 on the Big John Loop.

Beautiful campground with lots of trails. Trees could use some trimming for big rigs but we were able to navigate in our 40 ft. class A.

Lake Powhatan is beautiful. The campground is very well maintained and has excellent trails for hiking and the lake itself is lovely for fishing and swimming. The staff is friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay again

Wonderful place to stay! Love the trails and the people there. Campsites are spread out enough so you don’t feel like you’re packed in. Also close enough that you can run into town if you’ve forgotten everything or if the fire was a bit hot when cooking dinner. Great place to stay!

The campground is well maintained with paved roads and sites. We camped in a 5th wheel on a site with full hook up. We enjoyed this park very much with its mountain terrain and woods, sites were large and spaced well apart. We hiked the trail around the small lake and enjoyed the shaded scenery. We enjoyed evening campfires and spent most days outdoors enjoying nature and fresh air. There are bike trails as well for the adventurous. We would definitely recommend this campground and would certainly camp here again. Note that it is only a short drive to Asheville and the Biltmore Estate which are both worth visiting.
