Even in the rain the campgrounds were great! Nice clean showers and restrooms. Well maintained trails and great location.

Close access to mtb trails. Sites are quite close to each other. Very quiet campground. Free push button showers are adequate. They are upgrading the water system. Plenty of spigots throughout.

I went swimming in the lake and it was 2-3ft deep in mud. I have been sick with a waterborne illness since that day. It has been 6 days now. There is not enough of a swimming area for fun. Not enough bathrooms and lines to get in. Too strict on leaving ANY items out at campsite. Non food items included. The camp guy came by while we were gone for an hour and out all our things in the bear trap. We were upset and thought out stuff was taken. Fortunately, I thought to look in the bear trap and our things were there. Still felt violated. All our food was in our vehicle. All reverence and respect for the bears. It is over ran by loud children, which leaves me no interest in being in the lake. In this small areas. There is a he of bacteria in this lake and unfortunately, there is something wrong. I have had waterborne illness in the past and this has been horrible.

Sites are very well-maintained. Tent pads are spacious (even for my giant tent) and well-marked. Only "complaint" is that the gravel pieces are very big, and uncomfortable, and the picnic table is not moveable. Other than that, it was as good as it gets!

Lovely USFS campground in the forest just off the NPS Blue Ridge Parkway. Bike the many trails around Bent Creek on USFS lands, take 2-3 hours time to visit NC Arboretum just outside the gate. Ride up the BRP to MtPisgah for hikes, have lunch at the Pisgah Inn Restaurant. So much to do! Public lands mean it is your land! Lets keep it that way!

We stayed at campsite #90 in the Hard Times loop. A couple of things about the location that is not evident from the reservation website - all the campsites at Lake Powhatan have level, gravel pad sites, so just know that if you are using a tent, it will be going up on gravel. Site #90 is the closest site to the bathroom in the Hard Times loop, as well as a water spigot. The site is very shaded; their appeared to be several spaces where you hang a hammock. The campsites are reasonably distanced from each other and the bathrooms are clean. The bathroom in the Hard Times loop consisted of two separate unisex spaces with one toilet and sink in each, and then two separate unisex shower spaces. Quiet hours are between 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. and those restrictions seem to be fairly well enforced. Probably not the best campground for people looking for a party place; more of a family campground. The campground has a convenient location close to greater Asheville, and we really enjoyed our stay.

Great campground, access to great trails and a small lake. Bath facilities are limited but kept very clean. We brought our dog with us and had no issues. Just wished that more sites had access to electricity.
