Beautiful campground with lots of space and greenery between sites. The sewer for our site, #39,was fairly high and the sewer hose had to elevated for proper drainage. Bathrooms and showers were separate and setup for one person at a time. Staff was very friendly and helpful. For things to do, check out Lexington Glassworks in Asheville and the town of Black Mountain. For hikers, the Lookout Trail near Black Mountain provides scenic views of the area

Lake Powhatan has become an annual visit for us. Close to friends in the area as well as access to some of the best stuff WNC has to offer, whether a tour of the local brewery or a ride on the BR parkway. I brought my bike this time and thoroughly enjoyed the trails in the area.

Great proximity to Asheville, North Carolina Arboretum, Biltmore. We camped in Lake Loop 39 with full hook ups. We did not use the bathrooms but they looked clean and maintained along with the showers This loop was wonderful with spacious private sites. Some sites might need extra help leveling. So many trails accessible right from the campground. We will return!

The staff member that greeted us was extremely friendly and helpful. The sites are large, (at least ours was), and gave plenty of space between sites with plenty of trees. We've stayed here twice and really enjoy this campground. Lots of bike and hiking trails nearby.

This is a nice location to enjoy the Pisgah National Forest and the Biltmore Estate. There is plenty of hiking accessible from the campground and since we came around Christmas, we also went to see the light display at the nearby arboretum.

Beautiful campsites, with lots of privacy, in a very quiet setting. Bathrooms/showers were spotless and the campground is very well maintained. Hiking trails are excellent, well marked, and interesting. Lake is very nice, too. Too cold for the beach, but it looked great. Park staff are all friendly and helpful. We'll be back!

This is an extremely nice campground. It is in a great area with lots of trails and things to do, and not far from town, so it is easy to get in and out.

Our experience at Lake Powhatan campground was wonderful. The sites are very private and very shaded. We were in the Lakeside campground loop which had paved mostly level sites with full hookups. We travel with ebikes and had a great time riding around the hilly campground and going down to the lake and fishing pier. We also loved the North Carolina Arboretum right next door to the campground. The Aboretum is a wonderful place to walk and see all the different regional plantings. The Bonsai exhibit there is incredible. The campground is excellently located near all the Ashville attractions. I will return when I have more time to explore.

Beautiful! The sites are nicely wooded and private. Wonderful campground to walk and explore.

The area is heavily wooded and feels remote but its actually close to a neighborhood and a few houses. It was cold during our stay so most sites were open on our loop. Some site loops were closed altogether as were the lake access roads. Cant say what the recreational part of this place looks like. Locked down is the phrase best used. Most everything was clean and tiddy. The water pipe heaters were installed at each site which was nice. We arrived after sunset so the place was dark without much lighting. Finding our site was challenging - maybe a “turn here” sign would have helped at our loop turn in.
Park maintenance engineers - please, widen the pavement on the first right turn at campsites 38/39 - Its not hard to find with all the tire tracks in the rutted soft mud on the shoulder.

We had a great time at Lake Powhatan. The park is very well kept, had private sites and was very natural which we liked. The big criticism I have is they NEVER answer the phone (tried for 2 weeks) and the mailbox was full. We were in a situation where we needed logistical questions answered before we drove all the way over there and couldn't get any. We just had to take a chance. It seems like they could find a better system for customer service.
