I was very disappointed camping there I stayed there two nights the first night when I took a shower and by the way I was in site number 51 I only had lukewarm water the second night that day I had spent the whole day at the Biltmore and when I got back at 9:00 someone was camping in my site I asked him do you know this is my site he said they told me that no one was camping here I said who told you the girl at the gate I said well where's your ticket for your windshield oh they didn't give me one so I knew he was full of s*** at that point so I said you better stop what you're doing and just hold up and see if I can get another site I went to a host the host called the manager and the manager came and gave me another site which took about 45 minutes and I was a little disappointed that they didn't go over and say something to the guy who was basically squatting the campsite which I paid for but they did not so the second night camping there in a different site I use the shower that next morning because I was leaving and again very lukewarm water the problem that someone took my site was they don't lock the gate they leave the gate wide open so when they leave at 8:00 someone can come in just like what that guy did and just steal someone's sight if you're not there I suggest you people get your s*** together and lock that gate so this doesn't happen again and give a gate code number to the people that paid for the site. I will never camp there again very poorly managed.

Campsites are spacious. Bathroom and showers clean and spacious as well. Provided sink to wash dishes with hot water. If needed they had a landry room all convenient located.Hiking trails were nice.

I love lake Powhatan! It is beautiful and well kept. There are mountain biking trails that you can access directly from the campground. I like the proximity to Asheville. Close enough for easy access, but far enough that you feel fully immersed in the outdoors. The staff that I interacted with were all exceptionally friendly and helpful.

We had a wonderful camping trip. All the sites are large and clean. The showers were very clean. My only suggestion would be to have better marked trails. But overall everything was excellent. We cant wait to return!

Site #51 is steep getting in and out of, so careful putting your rig in and out. Luckily we noticed the multiple DEEP ruts in the asphalt and took precaution. We had to build a bridge (so to speak) out of wood planks and stabilizer blocks under the wheels or we would have taken off the rear jacks and bumper. Others were not so lucky!!
Also there are electrical issues with this site. We did report to 2 staff at main gate that we recommend an electrician take a look at it. Hope they passed it on.
Otherwise, was a great trip! :-)

Very well kept sites that are nicely tucked into the woods. We really enjoyed this area and wish we had stayed longer. The staff upon arrival was extremely friendly and cheerful.

We very much enjoyed the campground. However, campsite 51 is a very steep site. though our camper is elevated pretty high, we still were unable to get into or out of the site without digging the jacks into the pavement. We were able to gradually raise the camper with pads on each side for a lenth of about 5 feet. WE were quicker getting out, but it was quite frustrating getting in. Just be prepared.
The BRs were great and clean. nice trails.
During COvid they are not selling firewood, so come prepared.
We'll be back.
