Clean, quiet campground 20 minutes from downtown Asheville. Friendly staff and hosts. Clean bathrooms, plenty of hot water for the shower. Cell service a little sketchy but made do with cell phone booster. Minutes from NC Arboretum and Blue Ridge Parkway. Easy access to some nearby hiking trails and a small lake. Spacious sites with plenty of shade trees. We will be back!

Small campground at the end of a road in the middle of Pisgah National Forest, perfect! Very woodsy, shaded spots, lots of privacy. 10 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and North Carolina Arboretum. About 20 minutes from Asheville and Biltmore. Lake is more of a pond, but trails everywhere!

Asheville is pulling together after Helene, but the campground is in fantastic shape (and most of the city is, also). Please come to Lake Powhatan and Asheville!

My reserved site was still occupied at check in time. I don't understand how this happens. The staff was great though and recommended changing to a site that actually was better than my original one. The trail system is wonderful with miles of hiking.

Swim Beach was not something I would go here for, the water is stagnant and dirty, and the water is so hot at the campground bathroom we cannot even take a bath, I mentioned that at the gate to fix but it was not, apparently they want people in and out fast .Overall my experience with the USFS sites is not that great, they are not very well maintained like the state park.

Great campground. Lots of hiking trails, nice little lake and close to shopping but you'd never know it. Wonderful friendly staff. A return stop for sure. Good cell service AT&T and plenty of antenna TV for rainy days

We had a wonderful 10 day’s camping at Lake Powhatan. We were in the Lakeside loop. Sites are nicely spaced allowing for a pleasant experience for all to enjoy their own camping time in the National Forest. Of course, the mountain biking is great. We also walked to the Arboretum to enjoy the exhibits there, an easy 1.5 mile walk from camp. The campground is well cared for by the staff on premise, would definitely recommend visiting this area.

I can not say enough about my stay at Powhattan. My site was cozy, clean and easy to access! The woods are beautiful, the lake amazing! The campground is beautifully maintained by a friendly, lovely staff. The bathroom/shower was super clean! I loved my stay and will be back!! Don't miss this area! You'll love the forest and the team that cares for the campground!

While I enjoyed the campground and amenities, I did not enjoy the screaming child that belonged to the Camp Host. This barefoot wild child rode his bicycle for hours yelling with another child much to the detriment of all the other campers. I spoke with two other campers who expressed the same displeasure with the situation, and all of us us had asked the children to quit yelling, to no avail. The Camp Host ( mother of wild child) was aware of the screaming, but stated the boys were just having fun, so obviously she was not going to remedy the situation. Because of this situation, we cut our trip a day short because our secondary site 46, was directly across from the second child whose family was occupying the double spot at 45. This family was boisterous and loud until late at night, not a situation we wished to subject ourselves to. Also, The camp host's site looked unkempt, not a favorable look for the campground. Positive things were the 15 minute drive to The Biltmore Estate and the 20-25 minutes drive to downtown Ashevillle. The hiking trails and beach at the lake were delightful and having the Arboretum just around the corner was an added bonus. I do wish you would add more full hookups or even just electric to the other loops to make it easier to camp at your lovely campground.

We enjoyed the park with all the trails with lots of birds around and the lake was enjoyable with the little beach. The camp site was clean but a little tight . The cell phone was realy poor around mmost of the park.

Well cared for campground just minutes from the heart of Asheville. We found the site in good condition with only one small issue (one of the plugs on the site electrical box didnt work).Even in the winter with no leaves on the trees the sites are fairly private. Definitely a well designed layout. The bathrooms were clean and the heaters keep them warm. We had no actual Verizon service here. We bought wood, they also had ice for sale. Both were pricey just as expected. We are looking forward to going back again soon!!

We had an excellent time at Lake Powhatan even if though we had two days of rain. We enjoyed the hiking, especially hiking to the NC Botanical Garden. This is a spot for you if you enjoy mountain biking. We've been to Asheville many times but this is the first time we've camped there. I don't think we will visit any other way from now on.

Sites wooded, well spaced, ours was paved w/full hookups. Lots of hiking trails, which are well used by community at large based on the number of cars at trailheads. Restrooms and showers need some maintenance. Would stay again on future trip.
