Great campground. Large spaces and private. Only complaint were the showers. The water trickled (and that's being nice) out of the shower head. Otherwise it was a great stay. Make sure you check if your site has water if not fill the tank up first.

Great hike from the campsite to Hard Times trail then down to the Arboretum and Bent Creek. Some campsites dont have water hookups even if they have electricity.

The space I had was excellent with a good distance between campers. The staff was friendly and the campground was well kept. This is my second stay and I will return. The location is great and close to resturants and stores. Now if they could only finish the work on I-26.

The campground at Lake Powhatan is lovely, with beautifully spaced wooded campsites, some with shore power. It's a peaceful way to visit nearby Asheville, where you can buzz around seeing the sights, and then return to your campfire at night. My only complaint: our final night there, some drunken yahoo spent about 45 minutes revving and roaring around the campground in his very loud truck at 4AM, quite deliberately waking everyone in a half mile radius. I feel the campground hosts should be a little quicker off the mark in calling the police in. Other than that we had a great time there!

The staff is so pleasant and helpful. The grounds are immaculate and the bathrooms are very clean. We have camped here for many years and the current staff is doing a great job. Keep it up!

This was one of our favorite stops. The sites were extremely well maintained. We love the privacy our site offered. Location was excellent. If we are ever in the area, we would surely stop here again.

Great place to camp especially in the winter. We went with our 4yo son in mid Feb and he had a blast. Convenient to Asheville and super convenient to Bent Creek trails for hiking and mountain biking. The bathrooms were heated and stayed nice and warm. The showers were also heated with hot water. And they were free! Firewood is a bit pricey at ~$10 a bundle, but Ill take that over having to use $9 in quarters for the family to shower.

The weather was miserable with heavy rain 10 of 14 days. Of course that was nothing you could control but the part you could have controlled, mud and nonexistent drainage from the tent pad made this by far the worst trip I have ever taken to a National Park. This is not the first time I have complained about the lack of gravel and poor drainage from the tent pads. One night I even found my flip flops floating outside my tent, the fire pit overflowing with water and burned wood pieces floating across the pad.Additionally, the showers on Big John Loop have virtually no water pressure. I carry a plastic tea container to the shower to collect the dribbling water to dump on my head. This is another complaint I have made many times previously, obviously to uncaring caretakers. Finally, who would have thought that the showers on Lakeside Loop, a full service loop for large RVs and campers, would have great water pressure.

We camp in Lake Powhatan in the spring most years as we travel west. The host were excellent. Restrooms and showers very clean and warm from heaters. Shower nozzles need to be removed and cleaned for better water flow.Staff very knowledgeable with the system , and need to know information .All hosts seemed to work well together. All this and more makes for a great camping experience

A beautiful campground with nice facilities and great hiking. I highly recommend hiking to the NC Arboretum. The proximity to Asheville is nice although we spent our 4 days just hiking the trails.

This is a great campground! The sites are spacious and separated by trees. It is conveniently located to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are lots of hiking trails and the lake is beautiful. We would definitely stay here again.

Love this place to camp and hike. Its a great location to the parkway, trails, and town. Great camp spots with lots of space. Great bathrooms and showers. Although for some reason there are less Host per section than years before and little less attention to maintenance as result. The small lake is great to cool off in after a hike but desperately needs dredging, the small swim area is murky and not very deep anymore.

This is a really nice campground-weve stayed there many times. Be aware that they do not maintain the roads in winter so if it snows or freezes, you will be driving on ice without sand or salt.
