The pictures dont do this campsite justice. They were large sites and were not crammed in together. Tons of shade and very peaceful.

This was a very peaceful place to spend some time. Staff was pleasant and helpful. I hope they're all okay and this facility isn't too badly damaged by the storm.

We only had an overnight stay, so didnt get to use the whole facilities. But the staff at check-in was great. Very wooded area, close to Asheville, but still in the forest.

Our site was a good size and very clean. My only complaint were in regards to the showers. We were in the Big John Loop. They were nothing more than a trickle down the wall. The water was warm and they were cleaned every morning but it would have been nice to have a proper shower after a day of hiking with 2 young kids. The staff at the front entrance were very friendly and helpful.

Fun place to be outdoors. We had easy access to several hiking and mountain biking areas. We took our puppy on several dog friendly hikes - many of which had a convenient and clean stream nearby to swim/cool off. The mountain biking was great - and there were many different levels so both of our (beginner and expert) biking itches were satisfied. We started our week at this campsite and came back at the end of the week because we enjoyed it so much!
We had a sprinter van and we had a regular campsite the first nights, then came back to a full hookup site the second time. Easy to do.

Great campground with lots of hiking/biking trails around. Staff takes great care of the sites and restrooms. Very very sanitary, always squeaky-clean. Close to the Arboretum -- you can access it for free through the back gate during the day and hike there.Knocking off one star (by order of my wife) for the low water pressure from the showers. You literally have to press yourself up against the shower wall to rinse off.

With little time to plan, due to Covid, many of the campgrounds in the area were booked up, by the time we decided that we were comfortable traveling before winter hit us. I made a reservation at Lake Powhatan, hoping for an okay/good camping experience, but ended up having a wonderful time! The grounds are clean and well kept. The staff was kind and friendly, and the campground had access to all kinds of hiking spots, was super close to the Skyway, and not far from Asheville- though, still very quiet, peaceful, and dark at night. The stars were amazing, and listening to the owls and birds at night was so nice, too.I'll most likely be returning in the future

Lake Powhatan Campground was a great place for our weekend getaway. Our 2nd to that location last year. We enjoy the quiet atmosphere and the camp attendants keeping facilities clean and organized.
