Nice quiet campground. Not a lot of privacy on loops A B and C. But was okay because everyone was pretty quiet (aka no kids). There are several hikes that start from the campground. We didnt go on any because dogs arent allowed. FYI you cant just show up and get a site, have to reserve online.

Had a great stay here at smokemont. Only downside was the burn ban which prevented us from being able to have fires which cut our evenings short.

By far my favorite campground in the smokies.

Really great staff and super clean campground.

Campground is clean. It has wide open space with stream flowing by. Also, a short and long hiking courses that you can experience. Also, it was quiet even during the busy hours. Its one of the best campground in the nation.

This campground is best suited for self-contained RVs. There are no shower facilities, no hot water, and no facilities for cleaning cookware. The campsites are too close together with no vegetation between sites. Although the campground was booked to capacity, at least two sections remained closed. Smokemont may be the worst campground I've ever experienced. It's in an excellent location, but offers little else. At least it was clean.

Took my gf here for her very first experience in a real campground, she was so giddy and loved it. We had elk come right up to our camp spot and after visiting all the sights, we had a hard time leaving. Shes pretty sensitive to noise when trying to sleep especially in a tent, but said it was the best nights sleep shes had in a long time getting to listen to the river.

Smokemont is an excellent campground very close to the Cherokee side of the Smokies. Very well maintained, quiet, and each site has ample space. On the morning we left, a group of seven elk wandered into the site and decided to stroll around, which was absolutely magical.

Elk were right outside our campsite (B004)! Amazing!!

Awesome campground. Close to several trails and horseback riding facility. Bathrooms were clean and there was a dish wash station which was a great touch. Campsites were a good size with good distance between your neighbors. Even saw some elk on our last day!

Entire place was very clean, staff was wonderful, helpful and polite.

A beautiful primitive campground with easy access to SMNP visitor center and the town of Cherokee.

Idyllic setting of quiet tranquil.

Close to the river, and bathroom. Great location in quieter side of park. A little close to other campsites and does lack a little privacy. But the proximity to the river makes up for it.

Smokemont is a wonderful campground. Great sites, great bathroom facilities, and great access to wonderful trailheads in the campground. The rangers are always helpful and informative.

Got to see elk in the river right across from camp site. It was amazing!

Noisy campers are always a struggle with how busy it always is, but I had a thoroughly great time. Bathrooms at the campgrounds were great. Plots were level and clean. I even had cell service most of the time. Not too far from a lot of the good hiking spots, and not too far from some great food in Bryson City. The fishing was phenomenal as well. You just gotta know where to look.

Great area to camp! Plenty of hiking trails right by the camp sites. Very well kept and maintained area. The park ranger was very knowledgeable about the area and was able to give us plenty of stuff to do for the weekend.

Wonderful campground! Woke up to 12 elk across from our site!

This campground was very clean. The space between sites was very nice. Nice access to clean restrooms. No showers. It was only a few minutes away from the Mingus Mill, Mountain Farm Museum and a NP Visitor center.

The campsites are large and level, and the restroom is really close by. However, during the time of year I visited (end of March), there isn't anyone at check-in and I had to deal with a site squatter. That really put a damper on my experience.
@RobertT9956944 · Camped on Mar 28, 2026 at Campsite #B35
It's a nice campground but there was no showers and no water from the drinking fountains. There was a dish washing sink though.
@RussellK132859 · Camped on Mar 27, 2026 at Campsite #C3
Well kept sites, easy in and out, clean bathroom, close to several trailheads in GSMNP, quiet at night. All good. Buy local firewood for use in fire rings as blowdowns are in short supply.

A lovely location, close to many things, beautiful area, nice and quiet, but it NEEDS SHOWERS.
@KevinM8804744 · Camped on Mar 25, 2026 at Campsite #B10
This campground is fantastic. I have been there twice in the last month and both times it was quite and clean. Its just a short drive to most of the iconic hiking spots so it makes it a perfect recovery location. I will be back again.

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.
