Very clean and quiet. Right next to the creek which was great and close to hikes. I went to the nightly talk and learned a lot!

We loved our stay at Smokemont. The camp hosts were very friendly and helpful offering suggestions of hikes to try. The bathrooms were well maintained, and it was nice to have a dishwashing station nearby. We enjoyed walking along the trail that crosses the creek and exploring the campground. The campsites are fairly close together, as other reviews mention, but it didnt bother us.We had two issues with our site (B007) - one was that it was raining when we came into camp, and our tent pad had a massive puddle in the middle of it. I saw another review mentioning a flooded tent pad at this site as well, but I wasnt able to switch to a different site. Luckily, we had a tarp to put down under the tent, which kept the water from seeping in. The second issue occurred on our second day - we ended up with a ton of red ants crawling all over our tent. I didnt notice a large anthill anywhere, but we must have managed to set up the tent on or near one. It was so bad that we ended up taking ants with us when we packed up camp.We hope to stay at Smokemont again, but maybe in a different site.

This is a very quite campground. The trees, creeks and tents around us comprised a very beautiful picture.

My only complaint is the surface of the square platform for pitching the tent is too hard for normal tent stakes. I have lightweight gear for backpacking, which I also use for car camping. A hammer would have been necessary to sink the stakes, but such heavy blows would likely have damaged or destroyed my stakes. Fortunately I also had my hammock, and my site had trees suitable for hanging. The itinerary for my trip needed to be flexible, and I was happy to reserve a spot online the same day after talking to the staff at Sugarlands. When I made the reservation I didn't notice any info on required heavy duty tent stakes, but that info is important for people like me with lightweight gear.

This spot is great for shade trees. For rainy times its NOT great because of gravity lol all of the water runs right down into the tent pad bc its not raised in the front only the back. Otherwise a nice spot.

This site is very clean and well set up. The fire pits and benches were clean and the tent area was level and even. Overall we had a great time here! It is also beautiful to walk around and there is a nice short nature trail on-site. We were also only 30 or so minutes from some great longer hikes and 10 minutes from Cherokee for things in town.

Really like Smokemont. The restrooms and grounds were kept in very good condition. The Rangers and staff are very friendly and helpful.

Wonderfully maintained campground with flush toilets and your usual campsite amenities (fire ring, grate, picnic bench, tent pad, etc.). The sites were a little closer together than we originally thought, but not so close that we felt crowded. Our site (B007) was level, partially shaded, and could easily fit two cars. There was a dishwashing sink just outside the restroom, which was a short walk from our site. Restrooms were clean and lit. This campground was a short drive (~30 min) from the Clingmans Dome turnoff and Alum Cave trailhead, which was a huge plus!

Cleanest campground bathrooms we’ve ever seen. Great location. Quiet despite layout of sites. Beautiful tree cover. Will definitely be back.
