Honestly one of the best experiences I have had camping in the smokies! The campsites were clean and orderly without being overly close to each other, and the public restrooms had one outlet, a light, and water which were all very helpful. It was near a river which was very peaceful and overall I greatly enjoyed my time there and felt very safe. 10/10!

Beautiful campground! Sites were big and well-spaced, and the tent pad was nice and flat. Bathrooms were on the cleaner side, as far as campgrounds go. Ice and firewood right next door at the stables was very convenient. We had a great weekend and will be returning!

Smokemont was beautiful, as always. The park staff isn't there much during the winter months, but when they are, they are very helpful and pleasant. This is a lovely, peaceful campground tucked into something of a valley in what feels like the heart of the range. The terrain shields the campsites from the stronger winds (though storms can still be scary). A creek with a strong current runs alongside the camping area. Its waters run fast enough to lull you to sleep even if you aren't at a creekside site. Overall, this is my favorite developed campground. It's clean, and, for the most part, other occupants are pretty respectful and considerate. However, it is important to note that, during the off-season, only one of the bathroom buildings is open. That means there is only one women's restroom and one men's restroom for miles. So, if you take up one of those rooms for half an hour so that you can use the electrical outlet to blow up your air mattress, you will likely tick someone off. Don't be that guy.

The campground was clean and well maintained. The crew that cleaned the restrooms did a good job and I found them in great shape each morning. Some of the campsites are a bit close together but that is typical of national park campgrounds. I stayed in Loop B which is a generator free loop. However, the dates the "generator free" rules begin for the season were not yet in effect. As a result, those who would like to enjoy quiet, had to listen to generators. While I realize the logic for the rules during the winter, it seems as if the "generator free" rules should be in effect before late April when I visited. There is also a 60 decibel maximum rule, which I don't believe was enforced. But overall, I liked the campground and will likely visit again.

We purchased wood from the campground & t we weren't able to get a good fire. We were disappointed that we couldn't use our Senior Lifetime Pass. We were not aware that we had to take care of that when we booked our campsite. This was our first National Park experience. We found the campground nice & well maintained. Thank you.

Nice sites, clean restroom. I enjoyed the trails around the campground and the proximity to the Blue Ridge parkway and overlooks in the park. Also very close to Cherokee but still quiet.

This was our first time in the Smokies, Im so happy we picked Smokemont. Accommodations for tent, non-electric were very spacious (we were able to put 2 6-person tents on the space with plenty of room for playing. The creek was very neat, I wish we wouldve stayed closer to it. The bathroom was very clean as well.

I always enjoy my trip to the Smokies and I tend to use Smokemont campground as it is closest to New Orleans. It would be really lovely if some showers could be added so that we tent campers can stay more than a couple of days without sleeping in a miasma of hiking sweat odors. But the nature side of Smokemont is wonderfully preserved. The sites are far enough apart to give some privacy and mitigate noise pollutions, and it's the Smokies!!!!
