Hard to figure out if the campground was accesible with closed area in the Smoky mountains, but really nice campsites between the trees and lots of people making fires at their sites.

Easily accessible campground with wooded sites, many of them pull-through. Appreciated easy access to washrooms and dumpsters. It was a quiet and peaceful stay.

Very well-maintained campground. Definitely go down the road to the horse stables and check it out.

I've been to Smokemont several times and it never disappoints. Beautiful, clean, well-kept campground, VERY quiet and peaceful, great place to relax.

Conveniently located, clean and operational bathroom facilities (NO showers), nearby trails and river, well stocked camp store (had firewood on a peak weekend!) and accepted credit cards.

Very well maintained campground and a great location. Conveniently located just up the road from Oconaluftee Visitor Center, the river trail into Cherokee, and not too far from Clingmans Dome and so many other beautiful hiking trails. Horseback and wagon rides available at the stables. The stables are where you purchase ice and firewood, and the price was low compared to most other campgrounds. All staff were friendly and accommodating, and the campground was silent during night quiet time despite being full.Highly recommended!

This is a beautiful campground. Like many people these days, I was sleeping in a van without hookups but also without a tent setup. I wish I'd figured out to book a pull in spot rather than the arc-shaped one, as I would've felt a little more snuggled into the campsite, slightly more off the road. However, I was glad I didn't end up in the RV pull through spots because I noticed those sites were really packed close together. I loved that there is a trailhead leading right off the back end of the campsite. Gorgeous area overall.

Great experience, perfect weather, friendly professional staff. B006 was clean and level. Good picnic table, lantern hook, and fire ring with cooking grate that I successfully used to prepare delicious pork chops! Keep up the good work!

Love this CG, especially section F, which was closed until May 15th...must have been due to lack of manpower, since the campground was full each night of my stay!

Lots of areas to walk dogs, and some good hiking trails start right from the CG!

We camped for 3 nights with our 3 young children. We saw elk every time we drive in/out of the campground, even in the river right by the campground. It was amazing! Loved being close to Cherokee to learn about the culture of the people native to this land. We hiked at Deep Creek, which was great for kids, and we stopped and had a picnic between waterfalls. We hiked a few miles from the campground looking for a waterfall, but never found it -- the kids were grumpy about that. We also drove to Clingman's Dome and hiked to the lookout tower, which was a little more steep/long than we had planned on (after a long day of other hikes), but it was beautiful (also crowded, but didn't bother us). Next time we'll bring bikes for the kids to ride around the campground. Wish there were showers -- 3 days of hiking with no showers was less than ideal. We had a lovely experience and highly recommend it to others wishing to explore this incredible area!

Great and simple campground. Bathrooms that were close to my campsite were shut off but the ones near the front are still open. Very clean and well maintained. The highway was closed the day I arrived due to winds/ice, but luckily it was open the next day. Most of the popular hikes are on the other side of the Smokys. The visitor center employees were very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. I would camp here again.

We decided to camp at Smokemont on Christmas Eve and we were lucky enough to get snow that day, so for Christmas day everything was completely covered in snow. The site we got (B6) was kind of awkward to park our 21 ft RV since it's in a corner, but once we got it in everything else went smothly. Part of the park was closed due to the weather, that includes some camping sites and bathrooms. There are no electric or water hookups so take that in consideration, also no signal at all for T-Mobile since you enter the town of Cherokee so be aware. Other than that we really loved the campground and we consider to come back any time soon.

Spots are a bit more spaced out than Cades Cove. Better views than Cades campground as well as well as a nearby river that provides nice ambience.

My family and I absolutely loved our time at Smokemont. The peace and solitude and mountain mystique were exactly what we were hoping for in a Great Smokies experience.
