Great spot for tent camping! Beautiful river, elk, fox. Everything but firewood sales.

Mostly very nice camoground. Good separation of generators from tent camping area. The loud leaf blowing on Sunday and Monday morning was most not so peaceful. To their credit, the staff -all off them at this campground are the best-nicest and most helpful of all the Smokies campgrounds. 5++ stars for them.

Overall it was a relaxing and peaceful. I enjoyed hearing the stream throughout my stay. Be aware, there is no phone reception in the campground but was able to obtain a connection down by the campground store/riding stables.

Great little spot! Staff very relaxed and helpful. Enjoyed it for a quick camp in and out. Nit glamping but effective for tent camping - no hot water.

Campsites close together and not very private. Campsite location is great - we were able to spend time at the river in campground and just a couple miles from visitor center to see elk/farm museum. Would go again.

As typical with National Parks the place is overcrowded.
However even though we were packed in too close for our comfort, all the other campers were respectful.
The purported “easy walk on a paved path” to Clingman’s Dome had everyone we encountered panting and stopping to catch their breaths. Maybe the thick white eyelined employee at the Visitor’s Center gets a kick out of under preparing visitors.

The campground is very nice. The staff is nice. The bathrooms are clean every morning. But The campers next to my campground were too loud after 10 pm. But it finally got quiet one or two hours later.

We visited prior to the regular season, before April 1, only limited loops and sites were available so late reservations were a bit tight. BUT, do it! The campground is super clean and quiet, the river is tremendous, and the Smokemont Loop hiking trail starts and finishes right from the campground, 5.8 miles and about 1300 ft elevation.

We loved Smokemont. Its in a beautiful setting. We hiked the Smokemont Loop right from the campground, did additional hikes from trailheads just 4 miles up Newfound Gap Road, and went to the visitors center just 3 miles away. Perfect location and setting.
One note: we couldn't initially figure out how to use the one threaded water spigot (which has two openings) so we struggled with a water bandit on one of the two unthreaded spigots. To use the threaded spigot, attach your water hose and pull down on the wide-mouth opening (where you hose is not attached) to disable that opening.

I visited during the "off" season so I'm sure this campground can get a bit noisier when all of the loops are open, but my experience was peaceful and quiet and the facilities clean. Being on the water added a nice ambiance. The stars were quite visible as well which is something I always appreciate when camping, though I imagine I could see them better because the trees were still barren.

No water points working in the whole campground and only one of the sinks for cleaning dishes but of course it was at the far end of the camp. They charge the same prices for both areas but only one of them has access to water. Hope you pick the right one. In addition they don’t sell firewood until April. Why wouldn’t you sell firewood in winter???? Of course, it was 28 degrees in March so we had to drive back to town to get firewood at the Exxon which charges 9 dollars a bundle. It is possibly the worst decision they made besides restricting access to water.

The sites are right next to each other and have no barriers between them. All the bushes and other shrubs are long gone so you will be watching your neighbors the entire time. All in all, I was very disappointed with this campground compared to most of the others in the region.
