Beautiful location and bathrooms were kept clean, neighbors werent too close or too noisy. Park staff were friendly and helpful. It is ridiculous that registered campers also have to pay the $5 per day parking fee anywhere outside the campground.

Loved the trails and the creek. The swimming hole by the bridge when you drive in is perfect for a rinse of since no showers here. And the stables an awesome experience for our kids. Great trail ride and wagon ride. Wed love to go back!

We stayed in site B36. It is right next to the bathhouse and across from the river. Love staying at Smokemont!

Unfortunately/fortunately we were snowed in at cades cove and could not get to Smokemont because of road closures. I would suggest anyone going to the area during the winter season to have a back up plan just in case 441 between Cherokee and Gatlinburg is closed. Seems to be fairly common during the winter months. You can get road updates on twitter @smokiesroadsNPS. this is about the only way I found to get any road info.

There were a few cars in front of us at check-in so we just went to out spot, set up and then walked over to the counter. Took about 10 seconds to check in with the nice lady. Bathroom was clean and everything was working great. We crossed the bridge and walked the nature trail, got to see some amazing views! Overall had a great time and can't wait to come back!!

Wonderful little campground! It was my first time camping since I was a kid, and really liked it. Beautiful creek that you can hear and fall asleep to. We even splashed around in it a bit, which was a delight!! Sites are close together, but didn't feel like we were on top of our neighbors or anything; plenty of room for privacy. Bathrooms could've been cleaner but hey, you're in nature!

Beautiful campground, nicely shaded, though not a lot of privacy between sites. The nature hike was lovely. Camp staff are very friendly. Short drive to Clingman's Dome.

This campground was pretty crowded, but very quiet. We got a spot by the creek and it was lovely. Bathrooms were clean but no potable water when we were there. The nature trail is short, but it is nice to trek around the creek and up a hill.

My husband and I went away for my birthday. Spent 2 nights even though it was freezing cold at night we had a blast. Beautiful scenery all around everyone was really nice... and you are not too far from town so when your wife forgets to pack the coffee no problem. Will be coming back in the fall with kiddos in tow!!

This place holds a very special place in my heart. 20 years ago my best friend and I spent a week here the summer after we graduated. It was the trip of a lifetime. Now I had the opportunity to spend a weekend with my wife at this beautiful location. The sound of the river lives in my mind.

I have been camping at Smokemont for over 20 years. I typically tent camp in the colder months anywhere between November to February. I also usually camp for two weeks. The campground has clean restrooms with regular toilets, sinks, hand dryer, power outlet (hair dryers and razors only) and they are heated in winter. There is a sink external to the restroom building with good drinking water. The entire campground is kept clean and they do a great job keeping fallen leaves blown off of the campsites. The only wood allowed is the bagged wood or collected onsite inside the campground. They do a good job of leaving cut wood on the grounds that had to be cleared for a reason. This permits the campers to scavenge it and spend less money on the bagged stuff. I have always found the staff and the rangers to be friendly and helpful as well. The trails adjacent to the campground are nice just for a morning walk or to so some serious hiking. The stream is beautiful also. All around it is my favorite campground. I like that it is very natural but kept tidy at the same time. Other fun things to do outside the camping are certainly the Visitors Center just down the road. Mingus Mill is cool. Cherokee and the shops are fun. Going over the top to Gatlinburg is always a good day trip. There are great sites and sights all along the way. Keep in mind the during the winter months the pass may be closed due to bad road conditions and you may have to go around via I-40 for that one. Also going to the Biltmore in Asheville is a usual stop for me. Not far from Cherokee is Bryson. it has fun shops and eateries as well plus the Great Smokey Mountain Railway. Check it all out!
